Look at the shelf life for most top WRs in the NFL, and you will see quite a large number start declining shortly after their 30th birthday. The most recent that comes to mind is Julio Jones. And once "Father Time" comes calling, it's over. Hopefully Diggs was dealing with an undisclosed injury that really slowed him down. WRs, like RBs, are known to drop off a cliff shortly after 30, so it seems a bit shortsighted to have a WR who’s 33/34 years old on the cap at over $24M/yr. He's no dummy, he knows it would have helped stretch the field and had a positive impact on his own game. In fact, it's no secret to anyone that's been keeping even a casual eye on the Bills. They had promising seasons that suggest that the future is bright for them, but one season of “better than expected” doesn’t mean they are locks to be stars. For example, Shakir’s strong 2nd half season would not prevent me from drafting another slot WR. Defenses dont go to the lengths to stop Diggs they go to stop other wrs. In fact, in the last 10 weeks of the season, Khalil Shakir had more receiving yards and touchdowns than Diggs—and it was Shakir who Josh Allen targeted on the biggest play of the season, Allen’s overthrow of him in the end zone near the end of the Kansas City playoff game.
