I believe they could even structure it back loaded so his actual cap hits are LESS than that $13.5 and $10 million the first two years as well. That defense would be sick The AFCN might have the best rivalries out of all the divisions. Those four teams really hate each other, and they usually beat the **** out of each other as well. But we've pushed a LOT of money into the future already. Is Donald enough of a difference maker still at this point in his career to continue to do that? I"d like to think when Diggs and Von are done (and maybe a few other guys) in a couple years that we can reload with some younger guys who will want big contracts. I guess it's the "all in now" vs. competitive every year philosophy. If getting Donald wins us the SB, ore makes us far more likely to win, I'm good with it. I don't think Beane would feel good about giving up the draft compensation that the Rams would likely be looking for if they choose to move him. And I can't blame him there. As fans it's easy to sit here and scream "DON'T CARE HOW...I WANT IT NOW" all sounding like Veruca from the Willie Wonka movie. An Uber Eats delivery is late because Aaron Donald is helping an elderly Asian lady across the street with her holding his arm. Compare that to Von, who has played 12 seasons & is about to enter year 13. Obviously different positions, but considering Donald is considered by many to be the best DT ever, I'd be confident he could still be productive for another couple years.
