Maryland AG Releases Report Of Clergy Sex Abuse

 https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2023/04/05/baltimore-archdiocese-catholic-sex-abuse-report/

The found that over 600 young people — from preschoolers to young adults — suffered sexual abuse and “physical torture” by more than 150 clergy members from the mid-1940s to 2002.

The bulk of the report is “abuser narratives” that detail allegations of abuse and how priests, archdiocese officials and others covered up or mishandled the allegations. What emerges are common patterns and storylines of angry and anguished parents reporting abuse to no avail; abusers being moved or sent to treatment and then reoffending; church authorities not reporting abuse to law enforcement; and the devastating effects on victims.

Many of the victims were altar servers, choir singers or students. The report describes the toll the abuse took on them. One woman, who said Father Carl Anthony Fisher molested her at St. Veronica’s Church in Baltimore, attempted suicide at age 14 after her mother sought to bring her back to the parish, the report said. Another Baltimore victim, who reported that Father Joseph Davies repeatedly raped him as an altar boy in the 1950s, attempted suicide in high school. In one case, a man alleged in 2004 that Father Steven Girard had molested and later raped him a decade earlier, starting when he was in third grade in Lansdowne, Md. The man met with the archdiocese, whose records note that he was in “obvious psychotic pain” and had made three suicide attempts. He died by suicide a year later.

Few priests or bishops have ever been prosecuted or otherwise held accountable for abusing or mishandling abusers and victims.

What exactly does this have to do with conservatism? Seems like you're kind of reaching here.

Really? The heart of the pro-life, anti-gay movement was the Catholic Church, yet look at what they were doing?

And forget the abuse for a second, these pro-life people were covering up horrible crimes. Real morality there!

Attention all pedo clergy. Satisfy your pedo desires by dancing and gyrating in front of five year olds. Maybe lift the cassock and show a bit of thigh. It's all good.

And don't worry, the rest of the religious estblishment will cover for them and then go out and demonize gays and women

Who?  The flock?

Or the Church leaders that say almost absolutely nothing to challenge the LGBTQ Transurrection?  They barely want to talk about abortion.

I’ve been told (and it’s true) the new young group of priests are far more conservative and are actually going to do so.

Lol heart of the conservative movement.  Baltimore?  Yea Baltimore Maryland the heart of the conservative movement.

Yea the 50 plus percent of American “Catholics” that vote Democrat.  Real heart of the conservative movement.

Maybe make claims you can back up and verify before you post.  Think it through.

Progressivism has been rotting out Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopalian etc type churches for the past decade.

Im not exactly sure they are emblematic of conservatism any longer.

Regardless, this is disgusting and worthy of just as much, if not more, condemnation we give other groups who target children.. given they use the guise of the church to prey on them.

Ah yes Baltimore an epicenter of amorality, violence, drugs, corruption and poorly educated…  also democrats across the board.

as usual this story isn’t really supporting the narrative op wishes it to. just like racism, nazism, fascism all link directly to the party he obsequiously carries water for.

“Catholic”… who can’t even bring himself to call what happened in Tennessee a hate crime and makes abortion rights and trans activism pillars of his administration.

Emblematic of how progressives in the West have infiltrated and hollowed out Catholicism in many places.

Ok I see where you're coming from but will disagree. Catholics, anti-abortion notwithstanding, have largely been democratic throughout history and only recently have become split down the middle across political parties. I'm loathe conflate the covering up of child abuse which has been going on in the church for decades if not centuries with conservatism in the United States.

That's not even close to being true. The pro-democracy revolutions of 1848 were violently put down with the backing of the church

Again, it seems like you're reaching. It's quite clear to anyone reading my post in good faith that I've been referring to the US electorate specifically.
