SALENA ZITO: Colorado’s sleeper Senate race just got real.

“There is something going on here in Colorado politics that is not much different than what happened in Virginia exactly one year ago — a shift away from the status quo and the odds-on favorite Democrat toward his Republican challenger.”

You guys should be doing great. Historically that first election after a new president goes to the opposition. What's the problem with the GOP now?

People talking like Dems senate majority might increase. Wow, What a mess for Republicans!

The answer is obvious. Americans obviously like an ever present government, inflation, crime, and foreign wars way more than anyone anticipated. Go figure! 😉

If Trump had only talked his buddy Putin out of doing that awful war things would be better. Still, strange the GOP isn't polling well at a mid term election.

Is it the media?

Mike Lee is being pursued by Evan McMullin . Why would voters vote for Lee who literally tried overturning our constitution? What is wrong with these people?

McMullin also traced a series of emails after the 2020 election between Lee and then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows revealing Lee’s involvement in the coup attempt. As McMullin put it, although “Mike Lee has lied about his involvement, we now know ... that Mike Lee was at the center of the plot to overturn our republic — one of the most egregious betrayals of our nation.” Just two days before the violent insurrection, “Mike Lee informed Trump’s team that he was ‘spending 14 hours a day,’ on the effort to recruit fake electors and overturn the will of the people.” McMullin argued that Lee "didn’t just support the effort to end American democracy, he used his power as a United States senator to help plan, coordinate and execute the plot. By his own admission, he worked overtime to see it through.”

Of course Fetterman's health is a legit campaign issue

The reality is that Fetterman’s health is a legitimate issue. Voters deserve vigorous debates between candidates for office. And one should be able to respectfully express concerns or ask questions about Fetterman’s health without being labeled a hack or an “ableist.”

Not surprisingly, Democrats are circling the wagons. What is more interesting is that the national media’s coverage of Fetterman’s health has often been presented in the context of the “Republicans pounce” genre. This is to say that worries about Fetterman’s health are primarily voiced by Oz or his fellow Republicans as if only someone who is rooting for Oz would have any reason for taking an interest in the physical capabilities of a would-be U.S. Senator to perform their duties. …

Again, we should expect Democrats to circle the wagons. That’s what partisans do. But the moral incentive for the media should be to give readers and voters more information—while the financial incentive should be to root for the story.

So far, I’m not seeing much of either. John Fetterman owes the people of Pennsylvania a few debates.

Herschel Walker's new ad is like a cooling sip of water

5423eecf-c667-4ece-b495-da9c2d4b69c0-860

So, of COURSE… *winkwinknudgenudgesaynomoresaynomore*

RACIST DOGWHISTLE LYING REPUBLICANS POUNCE HOW DARE THAT BLACK GUY ELEVENTY!!!!

Or so you’d think from The Hill headline:

Quote

Walker in new ad accuses Democrats of using ‘race to divide’ US

It’s not so much an “accusation” in the ad, as a soft-spoken statement of fact.

Wasn’t that GREAT?! Just cool, calm, and collected. No shrieking, no grievance flags, no litany of slights, real or imagined. Just a simple statement of they said this and here is where I am.

Where Walker “is” right now is also what’s causing this shrieking eel fit of election vapors on the part of national Democrats. It wasn’t supposed to be this close. Walker is as flawed a HUMAN candidate as one could possibly find, for all his fame and fortune on the field. But he has one thing going for him that the Rev Warnock does not – he is “LIKABLE.” He is approachable. He comes across as the guy next door who’d bring a brewski over while you were grilling in the shadow of your garage door. Or ask you while you were under your hood if you needed another size wrench. That’s the vibe. As opposed to the classic Marvel villain-looking Warnock (to include his name), with his off-putting arrogance and swirling rumors of domestic…um…upset.

If women are registering to vote at a rate some our suggesting because of the abortion issue, Dems could sweep the country this November. I mean if Red Kansas voted overwhelming against abortion restrictions this means Texas and other places AT ALL LEVELS of government are up for grabs.

Fetterman’s 9/11 Abortion Rally Is His Most Disturbing Performance Yet.

“You really have to press play on the clip and watch it to understand just how bad it is because it is that bad.

This is not a man who is well enough to be a US Senator, and there are no signs that he’s getting any better.

In fact, I would suggest that he’s in worse condition now than he was a month ago.”

Fetterman will debate Dr. Oz on October 25

The pressure is on Democrat John Fetterman to prove he is up to the job for which he is applying. Fetterman wants to be the next U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, running to occupy the seat being vacated by Senator Pat Toomey, who is retiring. Fetterman suffered a stroke earlier this year. He has refused to debate Dr. Mehmet Oz, Fetterman’s Republican challenger. That changed today when Fetterman announced he will debate Oz in a televised debate on Oct. 25 in Harrisburg.

That date is very late in the campaign but I’m sure that was the intention. Choose a late date and then only do the one debate. One and done. Fetterman is still slowly recovering from the stroke and is having verbal and articulation issues. Though he is a giant of a man who will tower over Oz, he will be no match as a debater for Oz. It’s understandable that Fetterman doesn’t want voters to see the contrast between him and Oz but that’s the breaks. Voters are entitled to see them both and listen to their answers to questions. Fetterman is a seasoned politician, he knows it is expected of him.

ACTUAL Pennsylvania news.

But in a new development, the Philly Inquirer has reported that Fetterman shared the alleged results of a cognitive test with them, but when the Inquirer pressed to see the actual data and talk to the speech therapist who tested him in order to independently verify the information, Fetterman’s campaign again balked

Pennsylvania Democratic Senate nominee John Fetterman’s campaign said Thursday that cognitive tests show his brain is working normally for a person his age, after his May stroke.

The campaign shared the outcomes of the tests with The Inquirer after they were first reported by the New York Times. They did not provide any documentation of the results, or make available to the media the speech therapist who administered the tests.

[…]

Determining someone’s ability to return to work is more nuanced than just looking at test scores. Clinicians also consider how the stroke occurred, how the patient is recovering, and what responsibilities they have at work, said Temple’s Croll.

“Overall, there’s no one way to interpret the scores that patients get on these assessments,” she said.

A doctor the Times spoke with had a similar thought process, stating that though they found the alleged test results “reassuring” the results also “don’t preclude the possibility that his performance is lower than it might have been before his stroke.”

As I said before, suffering from something as debilitating as a stroke is unquestionably challenging to deal with, especially when you’re in the middle of a political campaign and you’re obligated to make your case to voters ahead of Election Day.

But as we get closer to November, the race between Fetterman and Republican nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz is tightening, an indication that the Oz strategy of questioning his ability to serve and pushing back on Fetterman’s “carpetbagger” claims might be working, perhaps because a growing number of voters are coming to the conclusion that it’s very troubling that Fetterman and his team haven’t been more forthcoming with answers regarding his health and making the doctors available, even as they “share” alleged health information and test results that haven’t been confirmed by the medical team themselves.
