Biden's poor numbers reflect his performance as well as the public's opposition to the democrat's platform. The midterms will flip enough seats where the republican's control one and probably both houses. When that occurs, they will begin hearings on; Hunter Biden, Afghanistan, inflation, Covid response, "insert democratic failure here". Whomever runs will not be able shed the 24/7 negative coverage, Trump couldn't. I think the interesting discussion is what is going to occur long term in the House and Senate. As of today, the midterms will be a generational change from democrats to republicans. Incumbents are typically hard to unseat and republicans should have a comfortable majority in both houses after the midterms. Democrats should be very happy to see that there is no such beast as a “generic Republican.” There are only Republican humans with huge negatives in favorability ratings, and those Republicans are either named Trump or they have to publicly and embarrassingly kowtow to Trump to have any chance to make it through the primaries. I rather enjoy residing in states where I’m not fearful of lockdowns, mandates and an authoritarian local government. Stacey Abrams is about as strong as a contender that the Dems can put forth in Georgia and GA Republicans are obsessed with recycling weak, low enthusiasm candidates like Kemp & Perdue that generate zero excitement and make no attempt at going after the black vote… particularly the black male vote in/around the city.
