Retirees go to these states because they’re on a fixed income and don’t have to pay tax on their SS. The downside to that is you have a population that doesn’t care about the state itself, schools, etc. They don’t want to pay for anything. Lots of college kids. Half of them don’t end up staying there too long. it’s not like people are moving there because they like Ted Cruz and DeSantis. Lol. That’s silly. Raleigh has the research triangle which supplies a bunch of new jobs for young people. HC is another big one in the states since the population is old as dirt. We have half of the top beaches in America. The past 6 months our beaches have been full of northerners, so I am quite sure you don't travel to go to a disaster on vacation.
