Now that they can’t use COVID to scare the public into submission, Democrats – from President Joe Biden on down – are working on Plan B. Shouting “Democracy is at risk!” every chance they get.

 

That’s become the default line for the left. This weekend, when CBS News reporter Bill Whitaker asked Vice President Kamala Harris about the possibility of Biden dying in office, her response was: “Let me just tell you, I’m focused on the job. Our democracy is on the line, Bill. And I frankly in my head do not have time for parlor games when we have a president who is running for reelection. That’s it.”

 

Notice the contradiction in Harris’ statement? If we have, as she says, “a president who is running for reelection,” how is it that “our democracy is on the line”? Aren’t elections what democracy is all about?

 

Let’s assume that Donald Trump wins the Republican nomination. (That’s a big assumption, since the first primary is still months away and because history is replete with presumed front runners not getting the nomination.) Let’s also assume that Biden is the Democratic candidate. (Another big assumption.)

 

Trump and Biden will have to campaign for the presidency, as will various third-party candidates. They will travel the country making their case. The press will spend a great deal of time covering the campaigns – mostly attacking the GOP candidate. There will be nationally televised debates. Voters will start paying attention as the election nears.

 

A little more than a year from now, millions of voters will cast their ballots. And, according to the rules laid down in the Constitution, the next president will be elected. That could be Trump.

 

Where’s the threat to democracy here?

 

Does Biden mean that Trump could once again win the presidency despite losing the popular vote?

 

That can’t be it.

 

Biden recently gave a speech about “strengthening our democracy” in which he said that “I believe very strongly that the defining feature of our democracy is our Constitution.”

 

Well, look it up. Article II, Section I of the Constitution establishes the Electoral College, how many electors each state gets, and their role in deciding the election outcome. The framers of the Constitution knew that this could result in a candidate winning the electoral vote while losing the popular vote, but set it up this way to create a more stable and long-lasting democratic republic.

 

The Electoral College, in Biden’s words, is one of the “defining features” of our democracy.

 

Is there concern among Democrats that Trump or some other Republican candidate will steal the election? Is that why “our democracy is on the line”?

That can’t possibly be it, either.

 

Democrats have spent the past three years telling the public that election fraud is a myth and that – even in the midst of a pandemic when states were making last-minute changes to election procedures – the 2020 election was the most secure in history. They can’t suddenly claim that widespread fraud threatens to cost Democrats the 2024 election.

 

So what’s left? What does Biden really mean when he says “democracy is at risk.”

 

That’s easy enough to figure out if you listen to him and others on the left. In that same speech, Biden said that “their extreme agenda,” referring to so-called MAGA Republicans, “if carried out, would fundamentally alter the institutions of American democracy as we know it.”

 

Really? How so? By cutting back the size and scope of the federal government? By slaying a regulatory Leviathan that strips Americans of their basic freedoms? By bringing entrenched federal bureaucrats to heel when they actively try to defy the will of the people? By reining in “independent federal agencies” that operate as an unelected, unaccountable fourth branch of government?

 

By making sure that the Justice Department no longer operates as the Democratic party’s enforcer?...

At least 45 Americans claim to have been injured in recent attacks in Iraq and Syria, more than twice as many as the Pentagon previously disclosed, according to a new report. The Pentagon initially claimed that 21 service members suffered traumatic brain injuries as a result of two drone attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia, but an additional 24 troops have since reported such injuries, NBC reported Monday, bringing the total number of injured troops to 45. That number may rise as more troops come forward. NBC News has tallied at least 38 separate attacks on bases housing U.S. troops in Syria and Iraq since October 17.

An internal State Department dissent memo that was reportedly leaked to the press accused President Biden of "spreading misinformation" about the Israel-Hamas war and claimed Israel is committing "war crimes." 

 

Axios reported that it obtained what it called a "scathing" memo that was signed by 100 State Department and USAID employees that suggested Biden’s continued support of Israel has made him "complicit in genocide" as the Jewish state continues to retaliate after Hamas killed at least 1,400 civilians during the Oct. 7 terror attack.

 

"Some of the memo's language echoes that of progressive activists in the U.S., whose anger and protests over Biden's handling of the war have rippled through the Democratic Party — and created a new challenge for the president's 2024 campaign," Axios reported.

Wouldn't be the first time.  Then Senator Biden in the run up to the Iraq War as Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee ran the hearings.  He wouldn't let anyone against it testify.  Then he voted for it and continuing resolutions.  The results of which were 1,000,000+ dead Iraqis.

This week, the president took a question from Steven Nelson of the New York Post— a reporter whom White House Press Secretaries Karine Jean-Pierre has refused to call on since May.

 

Nelson pointed to an Associated Press poll that found that nearly 70 percent of Americans, including 40 percent of Democrats, believe Biden acted illegally or unethically regarding his family's business ventures. 

 

“Can you explain to the Americans, amid this impeachment inquiry, why you interacted with so many of your son and brother’s foreign business associates?” Nelson asked. 

 

In no shocking response, Biden reverted to his tried and true defense mechanism: lying.

It was another colossal pack of lies at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in San Francisco last month, when Presidentish Joe Biden boasted he'd had "some of the most constructive and productive discussions" with Communist Chinese strongman Xi Jinping.

 

While the two smiled and shook hands for the cameras, in private, Xi had a chilling message for Biden that we're only now finding out about — five weeks after APEC ended.

 

The major point of contention between the two nation's chiefs was over Taiwan but Biden described the discussion as “clear-headed” and “not heated.” Furthermore, Biden said that after talking with Xi, he "expects no interference" from Beijing in Taiwan's election scheduled for January.

 

But behind closed doors, NBC News reported on Wednesday, Xi told Biden point-blank that Beijing "will reunify Taiwan with mainland China but that the timing has not yet been decided." Xi also reportedly told Biden he would "prefer" to take Taiwan peacefully but, hey, sometimes amphibious and airborne invasions on a scale not seen since World War II happen.

 

This is all according to three current and former U.S. officials who attended the "constructive and productive discussions" and spoke with NBC. While one of the unnamed officials claimed that Xi's "language was no different than what he has always said," it still stands in stark contrast to Biden's comments.

 

 

Xi also told Biden — and this was on the record in November — that "The US side should ... stop arming Taiwan, and support China’s peaceful reunification." The not-so-veiled threat of war is something we're only finding out about today.
