What is it that you don’t like about Boogie, my friend? Please go into detail, what are you seeing?

I like his length and his motor but I don't see how he wins off the edge at the pro level. He has average burst, a pretty pedestrian initial step and against bigger tackles who got the first punch in he is stonewalled almost every time. He was a really good college player and he overpowered college tackles but he will not have that same power advantage in the NFL. So if he can't win with speed, and he can't win with power, and he isn't (as surely even you would admit) a refined technician I just don't know how he matches his college success in the pros. I think Basham can be an NFL player, he will start in the league but the guy I see when I watch him is a slightly thicker Manny Lawson.

Surely you mean Shaq Lawson and not Manny Lawson, correct? I see him as being more athletic than Shaq. Obviously he isn’t Reggie White from a power standpoint but I do see him as being able to stop the run. Pretty good from a power standpoint in that respect, he’s clearly a LE. I think his first step is underrated. I like him a lot and he is my favorite pick at 30, but my gut feeling is he won’t be a Bill. We’ll have to agree to disagree my friend but I’m glad you liked the rest of my mock. 👍

No I did mean Manny. Yes we disagree on Basham but I like the next group of guys you took.

There is nobody that I am really "wishing" for at edge for the Bills. Kwity Paye is my #1 edge in the class but he will be gone. Then Rousseau and Jaelen Phillips I can see the attraction but there are significant question marks with both. I like Joseph Ossai as a raw, higher ceiling guy but I think he would be more comfortable in a 3-4...... I am not a big Ojulari guy or Basham guy. I suppose Patrick Jones in round 2 or Quincy Roche in round 3 are the two spots where I could see an argument that you can marry the value with the talent and the need. I totally get that edge is our biggest need, I have banged that drum for a while.... but this isn't the best edge class of the last decade by any means. I tried to find a late round gem I could fall in love with at edge as well this past week but not really had much luck. I actually think the Buffalo kid has some skills but again I think he is more of a 3-4 fit...

Jones and Weaver are interesting prospects out of Pittsburgh. Cover1's draft guy was on a podcast the other day talking about how they fit what Beane and McD like at DE. Will be interesting to see. I think the closer we get the more people are kind of questioning the Edge setup here.

I will say, I have seen some things that have Paye dropping lower with higher traits guys like Phillips and Rous. going before him. You see him as a fit here if he somehow gets down to 30?

If Paye is there at #30 he would be a serious consideration I would think. Agree on Jones especially fitting what McD and Beane want. I was saying the same somewhere else earlier in the week.

I think we'll get a unique look at what they think Epy can be this year in the first couple rounds. There isn't much to love at edge between picks 30-80, but then there are some intriguing prospects after that, might just not have much role in year one.

No trades made in this one. Went heavy on defense:

Round 1 (#30): Kwity Paye (EDGE - Michigan) -> Debated between Paye and Farley here but Farley's balky back worries me a little and I felt there would be better value later at CB than at Edge.

Round 2 (#61): Dyami Brown (WR - North Carolina) ->I just like this kid. Great vertical threat who can get deep and play in the slot or outside.

Round 3 (#93): Paulson Adebo (CB - Stanford) -> Good size and fit in McD's zone. Versatile and I find myself taking him in a lot of mocks.

Round 5 (#161): Robert Hainsey (OT - Notre Dame) -> Swing tackle. Adds youth and depth at the OT spot.

Round 5 (#174): Joshuah Bledsoe (S - Missouri) -> An infusion of youth at the third S spot and a 'Big Nickel' candidate.

Round 6 (#213): Israel Mukuamu (CB - South Carolina) -> Another guy who keeps showing up late and I can't ignore. I don't think he lasts this long. Great size and more competition at CB and another possible Big Nickel candidate.

Round 7 (#236): Khyiris Tonga (DT - BYU) -> Help for the DL at the 1 tech.

My biggest regret with this mock was not grabbing an interior OL and maybe a RB later. Going heavy at CB/S limited my options. Otherwise, I was happy with it.
