Biden should do the following:

1) Guarantee a $1000/week payment to every American (or illegal alien...sorry, immigrant) over age 13;

2) Health insurance for every human, born or unborn;

3) Free college education for every person (age 14-78) with tuition forgiveness so long as they take 2 credit hours of “Patriotic/Democratic Theory”;

4) Every person plants a tree...in their yard, school or anywhere they want;

5) Defund the military...it’s just world police. Dumb

You sound like a sore loser. Are you? Snow flake

1. I believe that the US Student Debt is held by private institutions and may be subsidized by the Federal Government. If so, foregoing that debt is not solely the Federal Government's decision to make. And doing so would cripple a Trillion Dollar industry.  Not only that, what about the students who paid their debt.  Do we just tell them "sorry suckers"?  What about fannie and freddy mortgages?  Those are oppressive, too.  Why stop at student debt?  Why not, instead, focus on the institutions and the fact that tuition and room and board have risen astronomically.  Who looks at the books of the private institutions that are supposed to be "non-profit", yet have incredible unspent endowments.

2. A quick search shows that 56% of US workers have a retirement plan.  I'd say that a significant number of the remaining 44% are invested in the market in some other way, like SEPP's etc.  The market being a fatcat-only playground is a fallacy.  Perhaps the rich make more money, but that's because they have more money to invest.  You can't downplay the effect of the market on the general, non-rich population.

3. You said "red hot" economy.  You said Trump instituted his tax cut and deregulation plan during a red hot economy.  I just went back and looked at your post.  Like I said earlier, the tax cuts and sugar boost allowed Trump to institute his tariffs (also a source of tax revenue paid for by US citizens). There's more to it than just cut taxes and make people happy.  Even so, it didn't hurt the GDP.  It added $250Billion in deficit (which nobody likes), but it also brought corporations back to the US and likely increased the job base.

4. Infrastructure was most certainly on Trump's agenda with Congress.  He and Congress rolled out a $2trillion plan.  It didn't go anywhere, but you can't say it was never on the agenda.

The federal government has aided and abetted predatory practices by private lenders by guaranteeing these loans and preventing these student loans from being discharged through bankruptcy.   Furthermore, the federal government also allows for-profit trade schools and colleges that are nothing more than scams to qualify for federally guaranteed private loans.

I don’t disagree with a lot of this.  The whole system is a mess.

I still don’t think that student debt should be forgiven.

Good idea Shady - deferring student loan debt, restarting unemployment benefits and a moratorium on residential evictions for those who can't pay rent should all be reversed!!!

I think that wholesale forgiveness of student debt isn't the best idea.

I think that:

  • the federal government owes relief to those who were the victims of scam schools by forgiving their loans.  These schools lured in students by the schools' using access to federal guaranteed student loans as "financial aid".
  • all other borrowers should be given an opportunity to "work off" part of their student loan debt.  People in certain public service jobs should be eligible for forgiveness of up to 70% of their loans in exchange for working in those fields for up to 7 years.  I would include teachers and educational support staff working in public and private schools and accredited trade schools and colleges, most health care professionals, professionals working for local, state, or federal government in non-elective positions (including law enforcement and military), people working in mental health and addiction counseling, etc.
  • people who have been paying off their student loans but run into some kind of economic crisis and need to declare bankruptcy, should be allowed to have their remaining student debt included in their discharged debts.

If you address the cost issue for future students (through various means) what do you do with the current generation of people with crippling student debt? Do you support some sort of partial forgiveness or at least a lowering or eliminating of their interest rate? Or are you just fine with doing nothing?

I always talk about this issue with my dad who supports eliminating interest on student loans and means tested partial forgiveness. But I always tell him that it is probably not that much more expensive to just do full forgiveness. Due to the fact that the massive means testing needed would probably require a massive bureaucracy that would likely cost a lot of money and it would be both easier and more effective to just make the program universal.

1.  Cover up all evidence that they rigged the election.

2.  Kill off all individuals that have information on his Pedophile island across from Epstein's old Island.

3.  Eliminate the right to bare arms.

4.  Pass a 4 trillion stimulus and make 1.5 billion mysteriously disappear.

5.  Begin preparations to rig the next election.

6.  Continue watering down the population that knows socialism is not a good thing with individuals that don't understand socialism and the other things that the Dems support are what make the country they come from so bad or have completely destroyed it.

7.  Begin drafting the bill that will finally abolish the bill of rights and legalize the use of the fema camps they created for re-education and the elimination of people who resist.

Individuals that actually go to school for something legit have no issues paying back student loans.

Individuals who get liberal arts degrees and don't further their education make out fine as well.  They already have income driven repayment.

Individuals also do not use due diligence when choosing what to go to school for.  You shouldn't go to school to be something that doesn't have a good market forecast.

Why should responsible people keep having to pay for the irresponsible.

When the Rich make bad business decisions let em sink.  When people make bad investments in themselves let em suffer a bit.

The current Democrat platform is to lower the voting age to 16, but not be held responsible for your decisions until 26.

If they lower the voting age to 16 we will all be held responsible for their decisions immediately.  Leave to the Dems to try and get the most easily influenced individuals that are in the school system they control the right to vote.

You make it dischargeable in bankruptcy.

Otherwise, people will give in to the moral dilemma of defaulting on purpose just to get forgiveness or a modification they might not otherwise deserve.  People did that in 2008/09 with their mortgages.

Trump did that to the tune of $287 million he borrowed to build a skyscraper in Chicago: Chicago.

Why shouldn't ordinary people have the same opportunity?   BTW, the forgiven loan/mortgage amounts count as income, so these people who get these breaks pay taxes on these breaks -- except for Trump who avoided paying taxes on most of that $287 million.
