Well this will be interesting.  Bernie played mostly nice with Hillary in the debates in 2016.  She was such an easy target, he could have hammered her on so many things but he mostly chose not to.  Even after he learned the thing was somewhat rigged against him, he only complained mildly.

Now Bernie's getting ganged up on again by his adopted party that doesn't like him.  Joe will be another sitting duck in the debate and one that represents the corporate and party Democrat establishment.  All the things Bernie rails against.  Let's see if Bernie who has not a damn thing to lose at this point of the campaign and at his age will let Joe have it the same way he gives it to the right.

I'm guessing he won't do that to his old friend Joe.  He'll toe the party line of the party that is ***** with him again.  In the end that makes Bernie a wuss that when the chips are down won't fight for his supporters.  We'll see but that is my guess.  He backs down.

Ha! Trump pimping for Bernie!

Trump's not an idiot.  It's hard to scream socialism when every other country has various types of single payer.  What's crazy about the exit polls in every state in the primary on Super Tuesday Democratic voters supported single payer over a public option.  They even added the caveat you'd have to give up your private insurance and they still favored it.

Voters bought the Biden is more electable narrative line, hook, and sinker.  It's a huge mistake. Burisma, the Iraq War vote, NAFTA, career politician, and going senile gives Trump a lot to work with.  It will be like 2016 all over again.

Bernie would be somewhat off brand if he makes personal attacks outside policy but he might as he's in desperation mode.  I wouldn't even agree to a debate if I was Biden.  There's zero upside in it for him.

I keep hearing the left leaning folks talk about the Iraq War vote vote.

I think the only people who care about this don't account for enough votes in this matter. Hillary voted for it...hell, she explained to Code Pink why she voted for it. It''s not the reason she lost.

Biden has two problems, the biggest of which USED to be Burisma, but somehow, sadly, has become his age. Rhetorical flourish has turned to dementia. If he freezes on stage during the debate, he could be running again Chester A. Arthur, and he'd lose. He's a massive liability, and he needs to bow out...even if it means running Bernie.

He is gonna lose it on stage for sure. What happens if he drops out, do they have some kind of redo primary, or his running mate takes over? Or does Killary step in?

It's just one of many reasons that point to poor judgment.  Same thing with Hillary.  Trump ran as an isolationist pounding the point ad nauseum that the Iraq War was a disaster and the Dems decide to run two candidates that voted for it.  Brilliant job guys.  Trying to run a bland "electable" establishment candidate against an incumbent is a death wish (Dole, Kerry, Romney).  At least they weren't going senile.

...as ignorant as I am and probably bigoted as well, I will never back off my assertion that Wolfowicz and Pearle were THE two biggest orchestrators of the Iraq war, solely for the purpose of protecting their Motherland......Hawks with their claws exposed and Bush took the bait............

It doesn't matter.  Biden's going to win Michigan big and this sucker will be over by the time the debate even happens.  Biden will have a majority of delegates and it will be a normal convention.  The media will try to hide his mental decline but it will become obvious over the next six months.  Bernie will campaign for him because he's an adult who sees the bigger picture, but good luck energizing the base to turn out for him come November.

I'm sure the Trump Team will agree to this if (when) Biden ends up being the candidate and the two do debate.   Prolonging the inevitable. At some point, the population-at-large will learn that Joe Biden has cognitive issues.

"How about this. We'll have them seated for the debate, so Joe can nap when the camera is not on him? Let CNN know, and we'll get 1 minute intervals between camera shots on Joe. He'll be fresh for the duration then! If CNN won't agree, maybe we can give Joe some cocaine?"

Does the "bigger picture" include campaigning for someone with cognitive issues for President of the United States? One would think that if Bernie were to do that he would be putting his partisanship and/or bias ahead of his country.

The media has the Soviet model to refer to when shielding Biden but will require some tweaking to make it passable here.  Don't be surprised if the media pushes for a pre-recorded "debate" to isolate Biden from the world.  Trump would be a fool to agree to this but the network gets the last word on how things are done on their medium. The narrative will be that nearly all Americans do not get to attend a debate to see it live so why does it matter if it is prerecorded?  If Biden were to be elected I would expect direct access to him to be nearly impossible.  This would set the stage for a de facto government led by any number of people.  At its worst this government could take on a "Patterns of Force" type tone with a strong man (or woman) effectively running things.

THE FIX IS IN:

DNC Changes Debate Format — Bernie Staffer Says They’re Protecting Biden.

According to the Democratic National Committee, the next debate — which is all but certain to be a head-to-head matchup between Sanders and Biden — will allow both candidates to be seated and take audience questions. This would be a dramatic change from the previous debates, during which the candidates faced questions from the moderators and stood behind lecterns for several hours.

“The DNC has changed the format for the next debate, where Joe Biden would have had to stand at a lectern for two hours and answer questions from professional moderators, to one where both men will be seated and answer questions from the audience,” tweeted Common Dreams senior editor and writer Eoin Higgins.

At the first presidential debate this fall, maybe Trump should come out on stage carrying a chair for Biden.

Honestly, I'd guess ratings. How many times do they need to have the same debate with the same issues and the same answers?

Doing something different may help their tanking debate ratings.

I think I'll tune in to see them sit instead of stand. -)
