Jets place a 2nd round tender on Robby Anderson

No way. The only way offering him a contract is to screw with their cap if they match

Yeah, exactly. The only way I see other teams offering is if they get bored with chasing other free agents and decide to try to be cute with the Jets to get them to pay a little more, but I could also totally see the Jets just being like "Alright, we'll take the 2nd round pick. Enjoy!"

I'd guess Robby simply ends up playing on the tender for $3 million or whatever it is.

Or we could have just drafted him like we should have done?? What is Kolby Listenbee up to these days anyway?

At a second round tender I think the price is probably too steep to be honest. He is the best receiver in the AFCE though.

He was a round 3 guy all day.

And Elandon Roberts was a round 4 guy...but what do you and I know?

yes. he's a proven performer on the field. it would both strengthen our roster and weaken the Jets.

The character concerns are why I'd balk at it.

the fact that 16 mill a year is even thrown around for this guy blows my mind! Even 11.7 is a reach. This guy really hasn't shown anything on a consistent basis to value him that high. NO thanks if he was a free agent I may offer him 8-9 at most.

Not exactly the type of guy McBeane would covet. Anyone remember this little news item?

"Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson was arrested early Friday morning in Florida and is facing nine charges, the Broward (Fla.) County Sherriff's Office confirmed to the New York Daily News.

According to a police report obtained by ESPN's Rich Cimini, a car Anderson was driving was clocked as 105 mph in a 45 mph zone, and he also ran multiple red lights. After he was pulled over, Anderson apparently threatened to sexually assault the officer's wife."

Does he even know the officers wife?

He'll be looking for starter money.

NIce creative work there OP. I read it and instantly thought no way am I giving up #40. Then I saw the creative effort in moving down in the second round. I still don't think it will work because the range of salaries to make it work is virtually zero. First we don't want to overpay (see what happened with Clay). But if we don't, Jets will match. So the small sweet spot for the trade is that our draft compensation has to be such that the jets think foregoing that is not worth the money paid to Anderson. Now moving down in the second makes the jets more willing to match which means we have to start overpaying Anderson to stop that.

Also, from a PR standpoint, no way can the Jets GM allow Anderson to walk to a division rival only to potentially be roasted twice a year for it. Especially with the cap space they are sitting on. The salary to Anderson would have to be truly egregious for the Jets to walk away and that will and should be unacceptable to us. But I applaud the creative effort.

That's what Sammy got and his stats are similar.

so do you actually think hell get 16 mill or are you playing devils advocate? Would you be on board with buffalo paying him 16 a yr?
