Do you have any ties to your high school still?

I went to an all boy school, so reunions aren’t really a thing, but I have a couple of very close friends I always talk to. Then there a second “tier” of guys that we meet every few months to have a dinner. Usually 5-10 guys. A lot stay in connection for business reasons.   Now that I have a son that I’m going to force to go there, I’ve started donating money.

As did I.  Took my friend about 15 years to forgive his dad for sending him there ?

Was it mcquaid?  I’ve found you either love or hate that place.

No from Jersey.

I couldn’t stand my high school at the time. My tone mellowed out a lot over time but don’t think I’d ever send my son (if I have one) there

I went to my 10 year reuinion from St Joes years ago, it was kinda boring. I have skipped the rest, just missed the 40th this summer. Since I don't live in the area, I rarely get a chance to run into anyone. I did attend a St. Joes NYC gathering about 3 years ago where they were giving updates on the current school and asking for donations. I guess I just don't miss the people I knew back then.

Not a tie per se now but they are listed as one of the beneficiaries of my trust. I have no kids so it has to go somewhere.

I have an alternate suggestion if you are desperate for ideas on where to direct those funds! ?

Actually, this sounds a bit like me. I went to St Joes but lived out in Williamsville, so I had two sets of friends. (Hard to believe, I know!) I still hear from the neighborhood friends on rare occasions (in fact got a text last week), but lost all the St Joes guys that I was never THAT close to anyway. I did go to a football game there when I was back for the home opener, but that’s about it as far as current ties. I still attend when they do the traveling road show soliciting donations, and if there’s anything left when I die they’ll be included.  Hopefully they’ll have to wait a long time for that......

My parents left WNY about the time I left for college, so I guess that’s to be expected.

That’s understandable. It’s really one extreme or the other when it comes to schools like that, and I certainly understand both sides.

Class of 78, I probably know you, I had a brother that graduated 77, another in 80

I lived out in the sticks and spent 3 hours a day on the bus until I got a car. It was hard to get close to many kids in HS until I had my own wheels, but by then I had a girlfriend, so....  But yeah, I’m in the yearbook next to your gang!

I just want to make it to "you're how old??????"

OK, I’m game......you’re how old??????

Now you are free to do things at your own pace.

My mother turns 91 in a few weeks. It’s really amazing how well she’s doing. You’d never guess 91, and I just knocked on wood.
