There it is again. McCarron wanted out.

It still doesn't make any sense. I believe that he could have said he wanted out because he wasn't going to start. That is debatable. But then he goes to a team where he has a far less chance to start and play than the Bills, and that is okay with him? They should have kept him. He is not the kind of guy to not try in practice or not be ready to play if and when called upon, or not to help Josh.

I posted earlier that he could stomach backing up Carr who is a legit NFL starting QB, but backing up Peterman who doesn't belong in the league and a green as grass Allen was not acceptable to him. Just my take on things to make sense of the situation.

Oh, I totally think that was it. That he couldn't believe that he was behind Peterman whom McCarron knew he was much better than. The point is they didn't have to trade him, and they shouldn't have traded him, just because he said he wanted out. Again, he is not going to be the guy to be a locker room cancer, it would ruin everything he has built up about himself his entire life.

We all know what McD thinks about Nate, and I think most of us believe this is his team a lot more than it is Beane's. But I would love to know what Beane and Daboll actually think about Peterman when McD isn't in the room.

Beane always says they don't want anyone on the team who doesn't want to be there, so they obliged AJM.   I can't see how anyone with football acument sees something worthwhile enough to keep Peterman in a valuable spot on the 53.

1. It cannot be, under any circumstance, that any player can just go to the team and say I don't want to be here anymore, and the team's position is "we don't want anyone that doesn't want to be here" and they accommodate him. That is just impossible.

2. That's what we would hope. But if I am Brian Daboll, I go to Beane and say, I know coach loves him some Nathan, but he just can't do it in this league. Do we both go to him together?

1. Highly dependent on what they discussed prior to him signing his UFA deal.   2. I would hope there is a culture for open and honest conversation that is very much valued even when it goes against McDermott's feeling.

We, as fans, suffer in many ways when our team sucks.  Dedes is just the latest example.

I don't like Archuleta.  He made too many disparaging comments in the last game they did.

1. There is zero chance they promised him the job. Or even the backup job. None.

2. We would freakin' hope so, but a) it doesn't appear they utilized it or b) McD said tough toenails, either of which is bad for our future. ;)

1. He had little bargaining power with the market dried up, but who knows what the conversation was.  2.  McDermott will be McDermoot if he makes many more decisions like what has transpired with Peterman.

They gave Peterman first shot with the ones. They gave him the first start. They gave him more time with the ones in practice. They gave up a huge amount for Josh and everyone on Earth, including Kiwi Aboriginals, knew we were drafting a QB #1. There is less than zero chance they promised McCarron a job. You're a reasonable person in this madhouse. You know that is true. :D

I wouldn't have, but I have no doubt he wasn't at all happy to sit behind Peterman and Allen.  Beane buckled for some reason.

AJ is a smart guy and been around a football fields and seen other QBs enough to know that Nasty Nate sucked and he would get his chance. If traded, he d probably get no chance.  Doesn't make sense.

Makes more sense to me that rookie GM Beane, thinking he's Ralphie's Dad at the Christmas tree lot, was thinking of all that cool stuff he could do with a 3rd round pick in March and forgot our line sucks and we got 2 QB s injured in PS.

This whole off sea son/season has been a series of shots to the foot.

Yup. Just dumb though. I don't even like McCarron but didn't like them trading him.

Certainly, in retrospect, it was a horrible decision.  I wonder what Beane meant when he said McCarron "wasn't what we thought he was."  I definitely read that quote and it seems to me they determined he was not really going to provide much in the way of "veteran leadership" to the young QBs -- particularly if he was 3rd string.

And, of course, they made the fatal error of believing Peterman's practice and preseason work would translate into the real games.

As long as Allen can recover 100% I'll be ok with a fresh start. The coaching staff can fix their mistakes and try to improve with the draft and free agency.

My expectations for this season were low but putting Allen behind that OL coached by Castillo was a disaster waiting to happen.

This is now a circus.

How long before McBeane botches this Anderson experiment?

To add to the circus atmosphere, how about this? Since Anderson has knowledge of just a portion of the playbook, if the offense is stalling, insert Peterman at strategic points to run parts of the playbook that Anderson doesn't know yet. But no sideline throws!

How Derek Anderson is Getting Himself Ready for Sunday

gzvcsxxs8phabsn5dbok.jpg

He was on a family vacation a week and a half ago. Eight days ago, he was signing a contract with the Bills. Four days ago, he was watching and trying to help Josh Allen against the Houston Texans. In three days he’ll be the starting quarterback for Buffalo in Indianapolis.

None of it surprises Derek Anderson. Thirteen years in the NFL has exposed him to just about everything. That exposure is also what got him the nod from head coach Sean McDermott to start Sunday’s game against the Colts.

“Derek is a guy that I’ve been around in Carolina. He brings experience, leadership presence to the table, and he’s worked hard in the last week or two, week and a half here to get himself up to speed,” McDermott said.

Anderson has been living in offensive coordinator Brian Daboll’s playbook for almost every waking hour since signing on Oct. 9th. He also knows he’s coming in without the benefit of an offseason conditioning program or the few thousand on field reps he would’ve had if he was with the team through the spring and summer.

Darius Leonard’s tale is not a love story. It’s not a story about staying true to your roots. And it’s not a story about drawing inspiration from the worst day of your life.

To put those kinds of limitations on a story about the Indianapolis Colts’ star rookie linebacker would be to do his story a grave injustice.

See, Leonard’s story is all of these things. To understand Leonard, you must understand the full picture. You must understand how he became the man he is. In short, you have to understand Lake View, S.C. – population 800.

“It’s the country,” Leonard said. “And I love it.”

Q&A: Jerry Hughes talks his unconventional path to defense, beloved Astros, and Revenge against the Colts

GettyImages-854241058-1024x683.jpg

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Three years after making him their first-round draft choice, the Indianapolis Colts dumped Jerry Hughes.

Texas Christian’s two-time All-American was supposed to hassle quarterbacks but recorded five sacks while starting only seven of 40 games. The Colts catapulted him to the Buffalo Bills for pedestrian linebacker Kelvin Sheppard.

That was 2013. Today, Hughes is among the NFL’s more dangerous edge-rushers. Sheppard lasted one season in Indianapolis and is out of the league.

Hughes has 4.5 sacks this year, putting him on pace for his highest total as he returns Sunday to Indianapolis for the first time since the trade.

Hughes also has been on his best behavior. Over his career, he has been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct nine times, roughing the passer six times, unnecessary roughness five times and facemask three times.
