Quick Hits: Kelvin Benjamin New to Bills Injury List

DneRJezUwAAmJMv.jpg

The Bills injury list already has some prominent names. On Wednesday, LeSean McCoy and his rib injury was joined by WR Kelvin Benjamin.

“He’s got a little bit of a hip (ailment),” said head coach Sean McDermott.

Benjamin will be limited in practice today along with McCoy, Taiwan Jones, Ray-Ray McCloud, Taron Johnson and Phillip Gaines.

Benjamin did finish Sunday’s game, catching the team’s only touchdown pass.

Jones is trying to return from a nasty head scrape that required stitches after his helmet came off during a fumble play and he was struck by a Chargers helmet on his exposed head. Fortunately, he did not suffer a concussion.

Johnson (shoulder) and Gaines (elbow) are both trying to recover from their injuries in time this week to be available for Sunday’s game in Minnesota.

Benjamin is banged up and still no wide reciever additions.    I guess none of the available wide outs has a merit badge

The part to me that's frustrating, is that they don't even seem to be interested in bringing anyone in.

Meh, WRs arent important for a rookie QB or an anemic offence, I bet they spent all day yesterday scouring the waiver wire and street FA list for available Rotational D linemen...

I was thinking the same thing. The Cowboys just brought back Brice Butler, he is a decent WR. In a perfect world he would be a WR3 but he is better than most of what the Bills have.

This to me is a little insulting. Are we really to believe that you’ve taken any efforts to get there? If he said “that is where we’d like to be” I’d give a pass. This is where “we’re trying to get” doesn’t pass the sniff test.

They have definitely not allocated the requisite resources to have an even functional offense unlike the Vikes who have loaded up.

Look at the Minnesota offense in zimmers first 3 years.  They weren't exactly lighting it up out there.

Yeah, I' must have missed the part where they made any play whatsoever for Cousins.

Seriously folks, can we move on from the Cousins love-fest? It's over. Buffalo knew this was going to be a re-building season and they weren't going to pay for a QB who is ready to win now when the rest of the team isn't....that simple. This strategy was in play from day 1; rid the team of lazy, under-motivated poor teammates, Draft the QB, get young core players at key positions, eliminate the ugly Cap situation, and build up from there. Last year's aberration just happened to change fans' expectations. Cousins is a good QB, but he's not worth the money to a team who isn't ready to make a run at the title.

That article links to an ESPN article. Here's their excerpt:

The final four teams expected to be vying for free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins are the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Saturday.

That isn't a list he made, it's the teams expected to pursue.

Did we have available cap room to make a competitive offer?  Considering our roster vs. the other ones - one would think we would have to overpay.  Once you have an idea of what they are offering, do we want to overbid even beyond that?

Denver offers Elway and super bowl pedigree.  Minnesotas roster is the most talented.  What are we offering?  The once in a lifetime chance to be a part of the bills?

At the beginning of FA we could have made a competitive offer for certain. You seem to be trying to apply your assumption of his mentality as facts. We don't know what he would or would not have accepted. I'm just pointing out that we didn't even try to find out. If their offense is where we're "trying" to get, then maybe we should have, umm, tried.

You don't think they called his agent?  And his agent just said - no?

Diggs and Thielen - 5th and UDFA.  Cook in the 2nd.  Rudolph in the 2nd in 2011.  Keenum as a scrap heap pickup.  After they had a good year they were able to bring in cousins.

I've seen no evidence to support that notion.

And have you seen evidence to support your opinion?

Exactly. They were the 2013 Seahawks on offense. Just grab a couple Pro Bowlers in the fifth round and UDFA and fans will call you a genius.
