The Bills aren't showing they're desperate for a QB

I get what people are saying, but when you trade away Tyrod Taylor and are left with Peterman you would think there was a plan to add a legit starting QB. Instead they let everyone else sign QB's and got the backup with upside on the cheap.

This offseason was going well until they failed to get a starting QB. The Bills didn't have the guts to pull the trigger on anything. Visions of Darcy Regier for the Sabres.

I'm not exactly sure why. They ended up getting AJ McCarron on the cheap. They stayed away from big money free agency. They allowed a division rival to trade up for a franchise QB.

The question is why?

Maybe they will have a presser where he’s on his knees begging to let other teams pass on QBs so he can have his choice.

Ummmmm, there's a rush to judgment....

Here's a link to of QBs who've had rough starts that turned out pretty well...

Peterman is probably a career back-up and may never amount to much in the NFL, but already calling him a failure at this point - by indicating the Bills "can't" win with him as a QB is so incredibly premature, even the 12 yr old boy hyped up Viagra can't believe it....

The Jets are desperate and it shows.  They just traded a ton of draft capital to take the third QB off the board in this year's draft.  They have no idea who is even going to be there.  It's not like they have targeted their guy, they are willing to take anyone.  That's desperate.

I'd rather wait like Beane is doing and see how the draft shakes out, then make a move that makes sense when you actually know who is left on the board.  Do I wish we still had the 3 pick open for us to trade into?  Absolutely.  Would I want Beane to expend a bunch of valuable draft capital and trade into it right now before knowing who they are going to target and whether or not that QB(s) is going to be there at 3?   No way.

You act like they wont ever draft again after this year... Funny.

Maybe because he more than anyone else in the league has the inside track on the Giants with his ex boss being there?

The Giants aren't doing us any favors. But yes that pick could become available. My only hope is the Giants told the Bills to get inside the top 10 and then we'll talk. Beane can't really get inside the top 10 until draft day.

I'm just having a hard time believing the Giants will do us any favors. Maybe they feel they can get a better deal on draft day from the Bills.

If it doesn't pan out the coach  is out of a job if they don't get a QB that coach is out of a job.

As far as FA goes   They probably would have been interested in Cousins and the others got way more money than they are worth and none are guys you woudl want as a franchise guy.    They got the guy that is most intriguing to me in McCarron since we don't know what he is.  The Browns were willing to trade a 2 and 3 for him half a season ago.

They have been acting desperate for a QB when it comes to the draft, that has been since day 1 when Beane took over.  They dont say it publicly but its obvious what they were trying to do in the draft.  Unfortunately it may not work out for them.

Sure they will, that's obvious. And if they hit it may be well worth it. But if you think Beane is jumping off a cliff like the Jets GM did then you're not really paying attention to his method of team building are you?

Look at this roster and you tell me if we can afford to do what the Jets did and give away a boat load of picks for 1 guy.  I say stay at 12 and take a QB like Mason Rudolph.

Not that they will do us favours... but that we very likely have a better sense of their thinking (what they are doing with the pick, what it would take to buy it) than anyone else.  If there is a deal to be done with the Giants Beane more than anyone else in the league is best placed to do it.

Or how about the Bills dont take the leftovers and go after the guy they want.

If you believe this is true, then, IMO, you have completely misinterpreted the personalities and actions of Beane and McDermott...

Lots of people praising the Jets for doing the opposite, but what the Jets did was out of desperation, reckless, and stupid.  Trading up 40 + days before the draft, is stupid.  Beane and company are doing it the way you need to do it.  Patience.  The Jets move has "ownership involvement" written all over it to me.

I dont think it was stupid. The Jets knew the Bills were in the market and had the picks to get to the 3 spot. I'd imagine it came down to either making the move early or allowing Buffalo to jump into that 3 spot and take the guy they want.

Outside of overpaying Star he's been aces since taking the helm. Shedding bad contracts, acquiring  premium picks, creating cap space and comp picks for next season. I find it hard to believe his job would be in jeopardy if he decided to address holes in the roster and hold off on a QB. But yes, if he feels there is a "can't miss" QB prospect then he will do what he must. Everyone is assuming that to get his "guy" they have to get the #2. Who's to say the guy he wants is not there at 12 or later?

McDermott and Beane have shown to be good at trading away talent and adding draft capital. Are they capable of doing whatever it takes to get a franchise QB? That remains to be seen. So far no.

Passing on Watson looks even worse today.
