Not So Fast on a Huge Deal for Kirk Cousins says Andrew Brandt

Why the Vikings could be an ideal fit for Kirk Cousins

If Kirk Cousins wants to play for a team that will make a long-term investment in his talents, the Minnesota Vikings should be at the top of his list.

If the Washington quarterback wants to play for a franchise built to win now, his best opportunity, arguably, is in Minneapolis.

...if FRANCHISE QB's are such a coveted entity, amazingly sad how the Deadskins managed to screw this up if he is in fact a franchise QB......then again, Boy Danny Snyder and his gang says it all.......Scott takes the fall and Bruce Allen hides under his desk...Papa George would be proud.....SMH.........

If I were Cousins, I'd take less money to play for the Vikings with John DeFilippo already in place as the OC.

How big of a deal could Minnie give Cousins? A couple million a year over a 5 year deal might not make a difference. If the Jets would fully guarantee the deal and $10 mil extra, that might make anyone think ‘I can win there’.

George would have never signed him in the first place.  Too young.  He hasn't even gotten to the hill yet.

...not sure what makes me sicker....Cousins or Tesla/Musk..........just nauseating.......some of these diva QB's just need to shut up and play the damn game......guess I'm too much of an old school dinosaur to expect them to respect those that got the game to where it is today with their yaps shut.......at this point, I hope he gets his $30 mil+ and is a Haynesworth.....RG II 1/3 was another shallow mouthpiece........Kaep was more worried about his tats and poses, hitting the limelight too early which blinded him from recognizing what he was getting paid for....and now a current clown speaks up....

from the prolific DeShone Kizer as the Browns are primed to select a QB AGAIN:

“Name a college quarterback who goes into the game-plan meetings on Monday and throws his notes at the coaches,” Kizer said. “No one else game plans the way I do. No one else prepares the way I do. No one else knows football the way I do. No one else is as big as I am. No one else is as powerful a runner as I am. Pat Mahomes might throw the ball 80 yards and I can only throw the ball 72, but I guarantee he can’t throw an out route the way I can.

“No one else can do what I can do. And I’ve truly figured out in this (draft) process, if I can maximize all my potential in every aspect of the game – this is bold – I do have the ability to be the greatest quarterback to ever play.

jets have a nice little defense being set up. o line is weak but with a couple high picks they can get some talent around kirk. i'd be worried if they signed him

Yes. They would easily move to the second best team in the division. They would be the only team other than NE with a good, established QB.

WTF do you have against Tesla/Musk? You sound like someone who probably has a "Make America Great Again" tattoo on their forehead.

You can start a thread hoiwever you like to. It seems as if no one else had a problem with a damn embedded link.

I never look at these because I don't want to go to some twitter page and find the link there.  If I wanted to look at Twitter stuff, I'd join Twitter.

Yes indirectly it is there. In fact some people cannot even go to twit site.

It does not take you to a twitter site, it takes you directly to the MMQB article just as I stated.  https://t.co/Ym3DCdJYuJ is equal to https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/02/20/nfl-free-agency-2018-kirk-cousins-quarterback-market?utm_campaign=themmqb&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social  which is exactly the same thing that you posted.

Disagree.  If he's not gone by the draft--there's your tell...

Cousins's  record?  26-30-1.  24-23-1 the past 3 seasons.  Alex Smith 50-26 in KC.

The Glennon and Osweiler are why teams will take pause (especially Denver) when dropping big bucks on FA QBs.

He'll be long gone by the draft.  In case you've had your head in the sand, Washington has been a pretty crappy team except for Cousins, and he's been successful for several years on teams that lacked a lot of high level talent.  QBs that succeed for 3+ seasons tend to have ability that survives through their careers.  If Cousins doesn't turn out to be quite the "franchise QB" on a par with guys like Stafford or E Manning, he's also not likely to be the disaster that both Glennon and Osweiler turned out to be, either.

hope he goes to Denver. they will need a couple off seasons to get it together as a whole anyways. i would be more concerned if he went to jets. They can fill a ton of spots with that cap space. Perhaps build a complete O line just for Cousins.
he is hardly hot poo. He can play football.

 not for Buffalo

but i take sincere note about where he will end up

Cousins says he wants to win and money is secondary. If that is the case I kinda doubt the Jets will sign him as they tear apart their team to do so!

Captain Kirk is a very bright guy and he knows who won last season and who didn't. He also knows which team has a winning staff and roster will factor into where he goes.

Minnesota and Jacksonville would be firsts. Buffalo would be next in my eyes if they don't spend all those early picks to move up in the draft. Arizona is third and Cleveland, the NY Jets, Denver are last!  I highly doubt he goes to any of those teams unless he gets no other solid offers from the others.

If Buffalo wants him I think they have a solid chance without needing to empty the vault. JMHO

Why is denver last? They have the best WR corps out of every team you named besides the Vikings. Arizona has a much better run game than we do now so they wouls be ahead of us too.

I think you just want Cousins and are doing mental gymnastics to make it work.

Sorry bud, we are not signing kirk. We are trading up for a franchise rookie QB.

Edit: if Cousins goes to Jax, they instantly become a Super Bowl favorite.

Jets have a solid defense and a few good WRs that got hurt last year. With a few good draft picks and Cousins under center the Jets might become dominant so lets hope not.

So have he Jets.

Cousins can't carry an offense.

If he's not gone by the draft, he will be had at a discount.
