You must not have noticed Elston screwing up as soon as he went in for Hyde on Sunday. McDermott chewed him out.

He’s a hitter though and filled in admirably when Poyer was hurt. Elston was really productive in the SEC as well. That’s the kind of young guy that you want as a reserve. He has some ability and some upside.

Meh. Had all season to make some sort of impact and convince the coaches/FO to think he's worth keeping and he failed.

We disagree here. He played well in his opportunity. There are guys that are much more expendable players on that team (see: Tolbert, Mike). Pitts is worse, Thomas too and so is McDermott off the top of my head. Elston has absolutely showed more than any of those guys. There are others too.

You must think McDermott and Beane have no idea what they're doing or how to evaluate talent - especially at safety. Which is odd considering the Hyde/Poyer acquisitions.
