They just dont make the news because bad news sells. Warrick Dunns Mom was a police officer killed in the line of duty. And man, I really, really warmed up to Watson at the draft. Donating money after a tragedy is not the same thing as utilizing first amendment rights to ignite conversations to spark social change. I think the people protesting deserve praise for taking risks and putting themselves in the line of fire to fight for what they believe is right. Just like Watson deserve praise for reaching out and giving to help those in need. PS: Is someone going to start the Kapernick giving thread because he's given more money (millions) and time to kids and the local communities than many athletes today, including Watson? Or is this just going to be hypocritical and only praise Watson because he hasn't fought for equal rights and against social injustice? Crazy how some people still want to make him a villain even though the only thing he has done is put himself on the line to fight the very real social injustices across this country today. I agree that the focus isn't on the issue enough, i think the owners wanted to do something so not to lose their players. The division is coming from a President that suggested the NFL strip its players of their First Amendment Rights. And make no mistake about it, its a "look over here, instead of over there" move by President Dump who has done this non stop since campaigning. And that is also only true this past weekend. Prior to this weekend, the players were protesting against social injustice and tragedies like what happened in Charlottesville. Most importantly though, the players this past weekend, the owners, and the NFL in general stood by each other to take stand to support their fellow players rights to peacefully stand up for what they believe and against the injustice they feel people still endure. Yet, for the most part Kapernick is still somehow maintained a Villain role, yet he does more off the field for kids and the community than most athletes do over all the professional sports. And he did that long before his protest started. He's never been a trouble maker on or off the field either, yet here we are still seeing him as an unfair villain all because he wanted to take a stand for people who have been wronged, hurt, or killed unjustly. Literally standing for his fellow Americans who suffer. But the media and so many people want to PRETEND he is protesting the flag or how HE is being treated, and that couldn't be further from the truth. The reason for that is that he would've been a Buffalo Bill because I don't believe in passing up a franchise QB when we have a chance to draft one. Watson was my top choice in this past draft.
