They've been waiting for a QB to take them to the next level that Smith never could get to. The poise and readiness were the big factors with Mahomes and he's starting to squash those. I agree, he is going to take that job at some point during the season. If he plays like Wilson did in his 1st season we will not be getting good return on that trade. The point is that it's much easier to look poised and ready in the preseason against 2nd and 3rd string vanilla defenses and no game tape where DCs will find out and exploit tendencies and weaknesses to game plan against.
