Predict the starting O-line

Recommended Posts

Ughhh depth... OLine seems to be the one area we have good depth at. What really makes Ducasse good depth is he can play 4 positions. Both tackle and guards positions. Versatility on the bench is huge because you can never predict an injury and having a player who could be plugged in anywhere is huge

I think we end up like this

LT- Glenn

LG- Incognito

C- Wood

RG- Miller

RT- Dawkins

OG/C- Groy

OG/OT- Ducasse

OT- Koundijo

Everyone else is cut

Groy is not better than Miller. Miller had a very solid/good season last year, and should only improve. He's a beast in the making

2 years ago miller was ranked around 60th for NFL guards...he sucks

last year he upped his game to almost mediocre. his pass blocking is horrible (33 qb pressures). decent vs run

the only reason your not noticing is because the guy to his right (mills) sucks more (57 qb pressures).

With Dawkins at RT, this could be the best O-line the Bills have fielded since the playoff years.

They also have great depth, and hopefully can look to trade some of these assets rather than cut. They would be wise to show a lot of Henderson, CK, and Lewis in the preseason for that purpose.

According to Pro Football Focus...

Most improved 2nd year OL last year. Gave up only 4 sacks, finishing with a 77.8 overall grade, 76.2 pass blocking,80.1 run blocking. That ranked him as the 29th best guard in the league. That's not sucking. He improved by leaps and bounds last year, and shoyld only become better with more experience. To say that Groy or anybody else is a better starter in this league is kinda ridiculous IMO.

Now put an upgrade at RT and he should be that much better.

Miller was ranked 60th by PFF his rookie year but was ranked 29th by the same metric last year.

Only 5 other teams had 2 guards ranked in the top 30. So I think it is pretty safe to say Miller doesn't suck. He is a very good run blocker, an average pass blocker... but there was an improvement in his pass blocking year 1 to year 2. If there is another improvement (even if slight) year 2 to year 3 he will be on the cusp of being a top 20 guard.

Agreed. If this works out like I think it will, we will have one of the better top-lines in the nfl. Not the best, but a damn good one. We might need to start thinking about a nickname for this group. "The Buffalo Rush, Buffalo Bulldozers, etc.". 1st attempt, I'm sure we can come up with better names.

I agree that Miller has some shortcomings he needs to overcome - particularly in pass pro.

But I see us lining up the same guys as last year with RT as the wildcard. I'm really hoping Dawkins - or anyone - can upgrade that spot. Mills was brutal to watch last year.

It is the one position where I am really content with our depth.

A top 8 LT

A top 10/12 LG

A solid starting C

An improving young RG

A decent lookig rookie prospect RT

Then:

A proven inside swing guy

A backup C who has started in the league for a playoff team

A back up "specialist" at LT (if CK's head is right)

A back up RT

They could legitimately keep 9 because there are other areas where we have paper thin depth. O Line will be our strongest group going into camp.

Hey it has worked for Dallas. I think our line was a top 10 unit last year. If Dawkins is an upgrade on Miller and Cordy is back at 100% it could be pushing top 5 this time.

agreed. best camp O Line in years

Maybe I just don't want to see it, because I've liked 'Curly' at Center since we drafted him. A career Bill who loves the team and city and is an inspirational player. BUT, with his 2nd severe leg injury which saw him miss the 2nd half last season, Groy didn't just fill in admirably, I believe he TOOK the position from Wood. IMO, he was close to flawless and deserves to start going forward.

Enduring, yet again, a wholesale coaching change and philosophy, perhaps one of them will excel better in the new blocking schemes we'll employ this year, but based on how our back to back League rushing titles was erected, it's Groy over Wood for me.

Otherwise, time is up for Henderson and CK, again, IMO.

Surprised to hear this. I didn't realize that Groy was so good. I didn't even see him out there (good thing I guess).

Maybe if we upgrade the rt the rg wont be so bad. Maybe

he really did great when Wood went down. Could be something to watch as he (Wood) gets longer in the tooth.

I'm wondering what it will look like if Dawkins isn't able to transition to RT

LT Cordy Glenn

LG Ritchie Incognito

OC Eric Wood

RG Dion Dawkins

RT Ryan Groy

OG John Miller, RT Jordan Mills backing up.

He isn't transitioning to tackle.... he played tackle at Temple. He would be transitioning if he moved to guard.
