According to them, the Ravens were about to sign Blount but now they are hesitating. According to them, the Ravens love comp picks and are in line for a 7th rounder next year if Ducasse makes the Bills. If the sign Blount, they lose that pick so now they are hesitating. They also talked about the "Patriots effect" where people are reluctant to sign former Pats because they believe their success is due to the system. The giants or other teams would of signed him already. Most of the signing interest information seems to be coming from his agent. NE had to wait till May 9th to use this rule. At least Blount has a contract if he signs the tender before July 22. NE seemed to know his value, why should they pay more than the have to. Blount had months of FA time but no bites. All he does is pile up the yards and TDs and he gets nickel and dimed like a roadside whore Well considering he screwed the Steelers last year it is fair. That screwing is on mind of many GMs IMO. They are essentially hamstrung from signing Blount now, because they can't risk losing a 3rd round pick based on what we do with a backup OL. Really quite fascinating. I'm sure he's a good enough coach, but let's not forget that he was a garbage failure and got canned by the Browns. Let's not forget that the Patriots were one of the worst franchises before they ended up backing into the best football player in NFL history. Since then, they've been the best team, their coach the best ever, all solid gold. And yet any player that has left instantly becomes irrelevant, coaches that have left have failed, and they've been a pretty poor drafting franchise. Having the single best player ever covers up a lot. They were garbage before, they'll be garbage again after. This too shall pass. There are a lot of fans that believe once Brady retires the Pats will immediately morph into the Browns and it will be a cakewalk to the AFC East title and all our problems will be solved. Those fans are living in Fantasyland. Brady could go down for the year tomorrow and that team will still hit double-digit wins. Brady isn't the sole reason that team wins -- right now he's the difference between a 1st or 2nd round playoff exit and a Superbowl (which is substantial of course). I realize any praise of the Pats triggers half of our fanbase (it turns my stomach too), but their front office is at the top of the league.
