Are we ramping up to war with North Korea?

Recommended Posts

I'm always confused when situations like we have in N. Korea come along.

Can anyone explain why someone doesn't just shoot Kim Jong-Un in the head, throw his body in the Taedong River, and then go have lunch?

That's how many criminal Roman emperors met their fate, more or less, when those around them got fed up with their bull ****.

No need for wars, nuclear warheads, millions of deaths, and so on.

We live in a world where the people who actually call the shots disagree with the bolded. Hell, domestically we disagree with that concept. We're entering year 17 of perma-war in the US with no signs of it abating.

War is a business model.

It works like this. A criminal government is much the same as a criminal gang. They are all guilty of crimes and need the leader to unite them against the worst thing any of them could see happen, which is regime change. Criminal governments can't give up power because then they are targets for the wrath of the people. So no one in the government/gang would kill Dear Leader because their asses are in the same situation he is

Ever wonder why Putin has troops in Syria? It's because the fewer regime changes the better for all the criminals. Our invasion of Iraq freaked out many of these criminal leaders around the globe

They going to institute a draft for this, call up the snowflakes and easily-triggered to show them to be grateful for the free-ride they've been handed?

I don't want any ground troops in North Korea unless absolutely necessary. We've had around 7,000 soldiers die overseas since 9/11. The last thing anybody should want is to reinstitute a draft.

Air Force could recall up to 1,000 retired pilots after ...

President Trump signed an executive order on Friday that would allow the Air Force to call upon 1,000 retired airmen to return to active duty

no need to draft when you can do that

Of course, the Air Force doesn't have the mechanics or spare parts to maintain the planes they have, so those pilots are largely superfluous anyway...

The USS Michigan surfaces in Busan — for the cameras. The sub carries Tomahawk land attack missiles.

Stupid.  The Michigan's an Ohio-class.  Telling the world it's in Busan gives the Russians and Chinese a location on it.  Which gives them a chance to try to track it, which gives them info and experience on tracking our ballistic missile submarines.

Never mind the escalation of tensions when it's reported we're threatening North Korea with an Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine.

This is a complicated issue that has absolutely nothing to do with a "draft."

Military pilots are not "drafted."

The monster nuclear submarine the US sent to South Korea looks like it may be packed with Navy SEALs

On top of the Michigan as it arrived in Busan appeared to be two silos for SEAL Delivery Vehicles, the tiny submarines used to transport US Navy SEALs and their equipment for their most covert missions deep in enemy territory.

Nothing unusual about that.  When they were modified as SSGNs, it included converting two of the ICBM tubes to support SEALs, and a C2 suite for controlling special forces missions from the sub.

And yes, those are two dry dock shelters for SEAL delivery vehicles.  But the picture's from back in April...6 months is a very long time to be sitting aboard a submarine waiting for something to happen.

Call it what you will.

Who needs "a draft" when you can "call up" thousands of people.

I understand your point, but you are missing a major distinction.

That isn't your fault because the media failed to report it in many of their reports of this.

The "missed" difference is that this would be voluntary, whereas a draft isn't.

"Officials stress that returning to active duty is strictly voluntary, and the service does not intend to implement a stop-loss measure."

http://taskandpurpose.com/air-force-can-recall-1000-retired-pilots-new-executive-order/

All pilot positions in the military are voluntary.

All they did was change the number.

The draft has to be completely egalitarian, so EVERYONE, men and women, from ages 17 to 30 are put in the lottery system.

This will make the libs happy.

People who can't go to a lecture on Hamlet because they hear people die in it will LOVE the DMZ for a 1-2 year stint.
