2017 NFL combine

Thanks for reminding me of the "43 is the Mike" fiasco.

I can appreciate that kind of specialized role on a team, but from what I've seen, it's a net negative. If a box safety can't hang with receivers and backs in coverage nowadays, they get abused. I liked Scott, but he was a liability in coverage.

I'm impressed with Peppers' straight line speed, but how do his other athletic measurables stack up? If he has the athletic chops required of a DB, I'm all for it.

JMO, but i don't think Peppers can be a traditional S. I think he needs to go to a team like Seattle where they can be creative with their use of him. He could be great doing that. But he doesn't seem to be a traditional FS. Perhaps he could get by being a SS, in the box type of player. Could be wrong though.

Not bad for what he is. A running back.

I think his best chance on D is as an attacking SS myself, he's not good in coverage, his eyes and movement needs to be going forward.

I like Seattle's approach as well. For years now, they've been drafting personnel better suited to 34 fronts and line them up in their various 43 schemes. Usually smaller than their opponents, but their athletic superiority usually wins. Plus, I like Carroll's insistence on teaching that rugby tackling technique. That should be a mandate for every team in the league. For a lot of reasons.

It's crazy how slow teams, especially the Bills, are to figure things out. Seattle is best defensive and tackling team in the NFL of the last 5 years. Why not teach want they are teaching?

Look at NE. Sadly, the most successful team of the last 15 years. They constantly spend draft picks and resources on multiple TEs. Why don't other teams??? So frustrating.

I have had alot if my friends tell me the same thing. He would be a better RB than anything.

Adjusting for weight, I honestly don't think he's far off being a similar calibre of athlete to Curtis Samuel. He's getting the 'baby Harvin' offensive weapon hype, kinda makes sense to class Peppers in that same class. Much prefer him with ball in hand.

As a defensive prospect, I just don't know what to do with him. If you essentially run the 4-2-5 as base, he fits that big nickel role in terms of dimensions but not sure he's good enough in coverage to match up to a slot WR. Might make sense as a nickel WLB but that's tough to value early.

I'm not forgetting Tate, Tate was solid. I just think Peppers is more dynamic at the position. I think he could break a TD or two possibly where Tate may not.

Valid.

I can't believe it's so hard to find good returners anymore. I don't know if it's just because of the rules.

Also, can we use Sammy as a PR? I like getting good players the opportunity to touch the hall as much as possible.

Cant wit Sammy. Too fragile.

I fear Sammy will be the next Bills receiver we will wonder what their career could have been with a good qb and/or staying healthy (Moulds, Evans, etc.)

Yet another reason not to pick a receiver high.

That is one of the funniest shows on TV. They do the exact opposite of what we always complain about with ESPN and places like that -they aren't pushing through the league's agenda. If a game is boring, they will say it boring. If a player is overrated, they will say that he's overrated. The brutal honesty, mixed with hilarious takes would be a huge improvement for the NFL. It is eary but it looks like Steve Smith may be the guy to do that.

I like ESPNs football coverage over NFL nets and not a huge comedy fan which is probably why I don't watch any sitcoms. I'd rather see Merril Hoge break down film than Deion's hot takes via facetime from the shower room.

Solomon Thomas with a pretty nasty strength/length ratio too: 30 reps at 33" arms

Really like this kid, if he is there at 10 I hope take him, we can get a safety latter.

Agree a million percent. It seems hard to go wrong with Stanford guys since Harbaugh got there. High character, smart guys. The best and most true college football program in the country.

Plus, Thomas can talk us up to David Shaw if SM doesn't get the job done. :)

Is that kinda like a porn"star" saying they hate sex?

They probably do lol

Thanks man. I've missed yall too.

where ya been man ?

Heard TJ Watt tested well, what say ye Bloksey ?

I haven't read through every post but any mention of Jordan Willis?

Guy has been a beast at KSU and destroyed the combine.

20 sacks in the past two seasons. 6-4, 250, 33.5 arms. 4.54 40, 1.54 10, 6.85 3-cone, 39 vert, and 10-5 broad jump.

That is Myles Garrett territory

I kinda expected him to run well. Explosion was a bit better than I thought but that 3-cone? I wish it showed up on tape consistently.

If it did, he'd be DE2.
