He's not breaking the law.

Only Schiff says he is. And Schiff is a proven liar.

Do you make it a habit to continue to believe people after they've proven themselves to be liars and traitors to the very republic they swore an oath to defend?

The law requires a whistleblowers allegation be turned over within seven days, it has not happened. Where is the allegation?

The ACTING official ate it. Why? Why is he breaking the law.

This is all a pattern, cover ups, stone walling, law breaking. This is Trump.

1. Yes, he was on government salary, if that's what you mean by "resources"?

2. No. And I'm shocked, shocked that someone would suggest a politician did this!

3. Ukraine provides dirt on Biden, and they get Trump's favor and that $250 million in military aid...

So essentially, it's not a problem for Trump to use Federal resources to dig up dirt on a political opponent?

Ah, Schiffy. You have no legal authority, oversight, or entitlement to the material. The President can declassify anything.

My "favorite" part?

Uh huh.

The question of why a "whistleblower" is monitoring President Trump's phone  calls (or  other communications) with a foreign leader is a good one.  Our intelligence community at work.

Unprecedented?  Drexel Burnham Lambert wasn't that long ago.

My guess is that the unprecedented refers to charging a run of the mill trading desk and only up to the MD level with RICO.

Schiff lost all credibility. Those who still believe anything he says only have themselves to blame.

What's hilarious though is the concern now about whistleblowers when Clapper refused to hear multiple whistleblowers re: the FBI/USIC/Clinton emails...

When you're only outraged when one side of the aisle does something dirty, then you're not very principled.

Old news. That was many years ago.

Well, I guess someone was using government "resources" to ask the president of Ukraine to investigate Biden....

Quote

President Trump in a July phone call repeatedly pressured the president of Ukraine to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden ’s son, urging Volodymyr Zelensky about eight times to work with Rudy Giuliani, his personal lawyer, on a probe, according to people familiar with the matter.

Rubber glue arguments DR? That’s your best bullet?

Blinded by your crusade.

Still think there are paid agents of the Deep State here?

It's not rubber vs glue. It's real corruption vs smoke.

Clinton, Obama actually colluded with the Ukraine to spy and defame their political opposition. This isn't hearsay or opinion, it's proven fact. Biden actually offered a quid pro quo to get the heat off his son (and for his son to profit in the millions).

Trump didn't do any of those things. But the left has kicked over the hornet's nest now and they won't like where it leads. Digging into the Ukraine exposes an entire rats nest on both sides of the aisle (the neocons/McCain faction got dirty there, the Clinton faction got dirty, Nuland and the Neocon/Neoliberals launched a coup under false pretenses, Biden got his beak wet there, Soros and his org got dirty there -- not to mention OC elements from both the west and east).

This will turn, like Russia, into a case of massive projection by the most guilty parties.

Now there's a pretext -- not just for a federal investigation, but for a media one. Which, if they don't do it will look bad, and if they do, will be worse for the DNC and Biden's chances in 2020. They're literally ***** -- not stuck, ***** -- between a rock and a hard place.

And you don't find that troubling at all?  How is this investigation furthering the interests of the US vs harming a political opponent?

In one felt swoop, Trump is risking everything that has been building up for the last two years.  Yeah, Biden will go down, but at a very high cost to Trump.

Trump is on the verge of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.   So much like the Trump everyone was expecting.

Why do you insist that I don't think it's troubling?  I responded to your question--you asked if I found this behavior legal or ethical, and I said NO.  I think it is entirely unethical.

I think it shows Trump's true nature, which I believe you and I agree on....

I disagree. This isn't Trump trying to harm a political opponent -- he's shining a laser pointer on the continuing the disclosure he's been unrolling for going on two years. The Ukraine is the nexus point for a lot of shady ***** that the western intelligence services and their establishment cut outs/proxies have done the past 5-10 years. If he can shine a light on the corruption there that lines up all the enemies of this country into one barrel: the neocon/McCain establishment, neoliberal media establishment, the Obama machine, the Clinton machine and foundation, the Soros machine and media cut outs, Putin, not to mention Russian OC and our own. What Joe did in the Ukraine was pure corruption for his own enrichment. He did it in broad daylight knowing the media was in his(Obama's) back pocket and he'd get away with it. He put self over country, money over service, and abused his power to do so.

That's not political -- it's criminal. Exposing it is for the good of the world, not the detriment -- even if it hurts Trump politically (which I don't think it will).

The politics though are there, undoubtedly, but they are secondary to the primary goal of disclosure. I would argue the politics here are actually great for Trump ultimately rather than bad. He (likely) would prefer Warren to Joe because it allows the campaign to be socialism v capitalism and Trump wins that in a walk. Shining a laser pointer on this story now accomplishes the task of booting Joe from the race quicker than waiting until SC. Trump still beats Joe, but if he's the candidate it's backed by the old establishment and their dirty tricks vs Trump's disclosure abilities. Trump still wins that, because Joe has more skeletons left to reveal if he really wants to, but it's a more dangerous road due to the IC/Establishment's lack of compunction about escalating a backdoor coup into outright violence.

Your explanation doesn't differ too much from Comey and CO's rationale against Trump.

Take a step back and read it from a deferential angle.

How?

Trump didn’t violate the law. He didn’t ask anyone to investigate a rival for a quid pro quo.

The entire premise of the story has already changed from “he asked for a quid pro quo”

to “he didn’t but it doesn’t matter” and from “a whistleblower has direct evidence” to “the whistleblower wasn’t involved and only has reports he overheard from others”.

The entire story is bogus. Asking the Ukraine to investigate corruption (which impacted our 2016 election) is not a crime. It’s not subverting the process or abusing power.

And there’s the fact that Trump likely knows much more than is public about what went down w in 2016 w the black ledger, Clinton foundation, and Biden’s corruption. There are active investigations at home into all those matters as we speak.
