McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation

Does it matter if he connects? If so, why? And won;t the cop claim the punch connected?

And what would McCoy or the NFLPA say in their appeal meeting while that video is rolling that would convince the NFL (or an arbitrator) that the suspension was grossly misapplied and must be reversed?

Where Goodell often gets in trouble with his rulings is not that he is out of bounds in punishing players but very often he is wrong in the scale of his punishment, and in the consistency from his prior rulings. For the sake of argument if Roger gave McCoy a one game suspension or a fine the union would be in a weak position to successfully challenge the ruling by the very erratic commissioner.

Going back to your original question whether McCoy connected or not being involved in a bar room brawl is enough for him to invoke the off field conduct clause. The same issue of off duty behavior and repercussions will be addressed by the department the officers work for.(That's my opinion.)

Does it matter if he connects? Really? How do you injure someone if you don't actually make contact him/her?

And if it doesn't matter, how does Rog justify suspending him? Because he threw an air punch? Again players aren't even suspended for throwing punches during games.

This in a nutshell. This matter will quietly close with a whimper and McCoy isn't getting any time.

he has been noticeably absent in this matter. Weighing the evidence against the opinion polls perhaps?

True. But that would require the DA to charge him with that.

of course. just saying the video if entered as evidence shows an intent to injure. i might guess this is just going to fall off the media radar. funny how significant personal and or legal indiscretions disappear when the weapons are off safety.

Welcome my friends to the legal Machine.

You are off base in your interpretation of the law/s associated with assault. If you swing at someone you don't have to hit the person in order to qualify it as an assault. If the person you are involved with feels threatened then technically it qualifies as an assault.

I don't believe that McCoy is going to be charged. There is a good chance that no one will be charged in this case.

After this long, I would be shocked if anyone is charged.

Goodie-dell is present. He is still counting his bonus. That is an awful lot of cash to count. He should be done by draft day so he can get booed again. He knows we love him.

Doubtful that they pay him in cash. Its probably a wire transfer or an ACH.

Charge him with intent to...what?

You don't need to "connect" on a punch to be charged with assault.

In this case, yeah, you would. If anyone were to get charged with assault in this case, it would be the cop. And probably the bottle-wielder. Edited by Doc
