Freddie's Dead Posted November 29, 2015 Share Posted November 29, 2015 Its like the same repeatable things that has cost us games earlier in the season all came out in todays game: -Cant stop the big plays on third down defense -Poor strategic managment by the coaches <----you should never chase the score with two point conversions, only go for them when you absolutely have to due to time on the clock. Logic says that going for a 2 pointer in the 3rd quarter means you aren't planning on scoring anymore points the rest of the game -Jerry Hughes with ANOTHER personal foul for an idiotic boneheaded play <---- This guy needs to be benched for multiple games, this is something belichick would never stand for. Play the right way or dont suite up for the game you freaking moron. -Darby and Gilmore giving up big big plays -Defense getting gashed by yet ANOTHER RB that nobody has ever heard of -Rex not challenging the right calls-- Maclins catch + Hogans "incompletion" -Sammy watkins dominants and your offense moves the ball at will when you just throw it up to him and let him make plays...then in the 2nd half he gets 0 targets and surprise surprise....we lose Rex has lost faith in Carp, clearly. He wasn't chasing the points, he was giving Carp a no confidence vote. Hughes couldn't be benched because they already had the last string LB playing because XTC was racked up. Rex and roman lost this game. Horrible replay challenge management, clock management (down 8 3:00 to play, you HUDDLE? WTF!!!!), and the refusal to use Sammy Watkins. The team is a perfect reflection of its head coach: brash, loud, undisciplined, stupid, and constantly losing focus. Today was a microcosm of the season, which was a microcosm of Rex's career. His teams are talented but lack the discipline and attention to detail that is required to become elite. I was in favor of the hire because I really hoped that Rex would learn from his mistakes in New Jersey and would thrive under a more stable ownership and GM situation. But the freedom has actually brought out the worst of Rex - no one is stopping him from destroying himself. Rex is responsible for deciding who to put in charge of the challenges and replays. He's responsible for not firing his ST coach or cutting his kicker and finding a better one. What's worse is that in his presser, Rex was blaming his andnhis staff's complete whiff on someone ("they") notnshowing the replays. How about your staff in the booth watching the CBS feed?For those of you who couldn't figure it out in his first press conference after being hired, Rex is just not bright enough to be an effective HC. The guys upstairs have to tell him when it is right and when it isn't. The head coach is one guy that rarely gets a good look unless they show it on the big screen from a few different angles before the call needs to be made. You cannot blame most challenges on the head coach. That said, Rex was awful. His game plan was terrible and his defensive calls were awful. And he HAD TO force Roman and TT to get Sammy the ball. Rex lost us the game as much or more than anyone but challenges are not usually on the HC. They can't be. There are HCs who are offensive oriented and there are HCs who are defensive oriented. Rex Ryan is a defensive inclined HC. What happened to the defense that he inherited? The challenging issue is understandably going to get a lot of attention. But the story of the game was the performance of our defense. He inherited an elite defense that was known for its unrelenting pressure on the qb. In this game there was minimal pressure especially from the inside and the Chiefs were running wild into the inside of the line. This is one of the most penalized teams in the league. It lacks discipline and collective intelligence. Hughes may be a physical talent but he is a mental midget. In a league and system devised for parity don't let anyone tell you that coaching doesn't matter. It is clearly evident when the loquacious Rex is at the helm. If the HC and the OC aren't watching the result of a critical play they just called, then they don't belong on the sideline. The late call of incomplete pass should have prompted BOTH of them to question the call, just like you and I and everyone else did right away. If thins how they function, maybe the Pegulas can sport some cash to pay a guy to watch the network broadcast, where they were screaming for Rex to challenge. He blitzes the hell out of Brady but decides Smith should get a pass. The play calling is very questionable as are the challenges. The special teams are far from special. Watkins is going nuts in the first half so it's decided he needs a break in the second half. You have a weak place kicker who can't get the ball near the end zone and misses extra and a so called specialist, taking up a roster spot, whose kicks are frequently being returned. My question is, does anyone doubt that Jim Schwartz's defense, plus Greg Roman's offense, would have any problem making the playoffs? Last year the Bills had a High School-grade offensive coordinator. This year they have a real one. And they have a good QB, Shady, Sammy, Clay, and an O line that is doing a lot better than anyone expected. The offense is making plays and sustaining drives. The defense is crumbling at the worst possible times. Last week Ryan looked really good against the Patriots. Brady was confused and needed a couple of breaks to beat the Bills. Is Alex Smith a better QB than Tom Brady, so that Ryan was afraid to try the same tactics he used against the Pats? Seriously?
