Gillette Loses Billions after Shaming Men in Ad Campaign

by Jim Treacher

Original Article

Earlier this year, Gillette embarked on a bold new advertising campaign. For decades, the company had celebrated masculinity, telling us that being a man is good. But what this new campaign presupposes is: Maybe it isn't? [Video] OUT: The Best a Man Can Get IN: Aren't Men Just the Worst? It's a bold idea, expressly shaming the very market for your product. As I noted at the time: Gillette has learned that in [current year], it's not enough for a company to make a product that people want. It's not enough to make them feel inadequate about themselves, and then sell them the supposed cure for that inadequacy.

So the CEO over at Gillette or P&G said the $8 billion (with a B) dollar decline was worth it for the virtue signaling, thus basically admitting that is what happened.

There’s has to be SEC rules protecting shareholders from this sort of thing. Where are the institutional investors?

What kind of CEO does something like that-

That's not what he said.  That's a dishonest conflation of two different stories: P&G taking an $8B write-off on buying Gillette, and the CEO saying "it was worth it" to lose unwoke customers by running an ad campaign "targeting millennials."

He's still an idiot - millennials aren't buying Gillette because they're buying from online "new economy" providers (same reason they take Uber instead of cabs, even when cabs are cheaper and more convenient.)  Not because of Gillette's lack of support of LBGTQAIP rights ore the #MeToo movement.  (*^*&%^$^#CEO is a woke loonie who thinks structural problems can be cured by social positioning.  But let's call him a (*^*&%^$^#for the right reasons, and not falsify stories for it.

Wait.....since when are cabs cheaper and more convenient?

They are waaaaaaaaay more convenient at the airport, but I don't think they are cheaper.

BUT let's face it. Uber and Lyft are just glorified taxis.

I agree with the airport part. But can you hail a cab on your phone? Can you just leave a cab when they drop you off?  Can you tip a cab at your leisure.  Have you ever been in a cab with snacks and a charger for your phone (granted most Uber don’t but some do). Have you ever been in an Uber that reeked of cigarette smoke?   Ride sharing is so much better than a cab.  Keep in mind I’ve not taken a cab in years so some of this may have changed.

In DC?  They're crawling all over the place, and the zone pricing is cheaper than Uber, judging by the costs people quote me.  "I took an Uber across town for $40."  Really?  I can take a cab to Baltimore for less.

In NYC depending on time of day.   DeBlasio has hit ride sharing hard with fees and regulations.

David Gibson VIDEO: Oberlin College plans to drag out litigation because it knows I’m dying from pancreatic cancer

Posted by William A. Jacobson  ▪  August 6, 2019 at 11:09am

“They’re sending a clear message to me and to my 91-year-old dad that they will just wait us out.”

https://www.facebook.com/bakershanecheney/videos/1268860586628397/

David Gibson, one of the owners of Gibson’s Bakery and a plaintiff in the lawsuit that yielded almost $32 million in damages against Oberlin College, has just posted a video on Facebook announcing that he has pancreatic cancer. (h/t to multiple readers for alerting me)

In the video (below), David says that Oberlin College has known about his illness for several months, and made a motion in court to keep that information away from jurors.

From your link:

“One reason conservatives are so happy and [l]efists are so miserable is that capitalists need friends,” wrote Evan Sayet. “They need business partners and investors, trading partners and customers so satisfied they come back again and again.

“The socialist needs enemies,” Sayet went on. “There must be people who hate him and oppress him. If he’s not hated and oppressed then socialism doesn’t exist.

“If he [the socialist] can’t find any such hatred, he’s forced to make it up,” Sayet continued. “‘Dog whistles’ – he knows what you’re REALLY saying – and ‘micro-aggressions’ are all invented nonsense because this ‘oppression’ simply MUST be true or else there’s no socialist movement (and no free things.)”

Sayet concluded: “The socialist doesn't need to work well with others because he doesn't work. What he needs is an excuse to justify his theft.”

Trans-activist suing over ‘waxing’ NOW claims she was denied fries for being transgender

Y’all remember Yaniv, yes? The transgendered woman who filed a human rights complaint because women refused to wax his ***** … or her *****.

But women don’t have scrotums. Right? No?

You know what, never mind. We can’t.

Apparently, she asked for fries and was refused the fries because she’s transgender.

Except the manager of the restaurant has said this is not true.

So an employee who doesn’t speak great English and likely doesn’t even know the word ‘transgender’ denied Yaniv fries for being transgender.

Hrm.

We’re not entirely sure she’s being 100% honest here. Just a hunch.
