Remembering Kyle Orton

unfortunately ill remember kyle orton by that one play where he could have ran for the 1st against Denver but slid too take a sack. I liked him but I don't think he really cared too much about winning. He fattened his bank account and cared about his health. (can't hate too much on that I guess)

I've ripped Orton pretty regularly this year, but his departure warrants a retrospective of his time in Buffalo.

So here it is.

Enjoy, and Happy New Year to everyone at Two Bills Drive,

Dave Staba

For all of the criticism of Orton here, his numbers here exceeded his career numbers for TDs/game, ypa, and compl. %., and rating. Statistically he had his best season ever here.

If you ask me, it's our rushing game, with no improvement in sight once again due to mismanagement and negligence in the personnel dept., was just as resonsible for the malaise of the offense. We can sit here and talk about a washed up Jackson, an overrated role player, a short-yardage specialist, and a cast-off role-player from another team as an elite group of RBs like one prominent media member on one of the big sports sites claimed this year, but the reality is that it's just that, overrated role players and a well past prime former standout that is equally if not more responsible.

Good thing we have these visionaries in our front office so that we don't waste a good D for two or three seasons until Mario's in his back-0 and Williams retires, before the offense is ever good.

Maybe we can trade all of our picks this year Whaley to go "be bold" and get one good player, a G or something. Fools!

I'm not defending Orton, he was mediocre at best, but the lack of being able to correctly assess the running game is pathetic.

not a big Orton fan appreciate what he did...honestly our run game is what killed this team. Prior to next year of I said the qb will have 4000 yds twice as many td's and int 24-12 and complete about 66% of the passes I think most of us with a brain would take it. Thats what we got from the qb's- its was the lack of a running game that killed our playoff hope. We could not run it a step

Orton was brought here to mentor and help bring EJ along as well as provide insurance, not be the starter for the season, it just worked out that way. He's not the kind of QB that was going to take the team deep into the playoffs even if we did get there. He served his purpose. Let's just hope EJ learned enough from him to take that next step. He's going to (and should) take over the position in 2015. It's way too soon to call him a bust or give up on him.

Kyle Orton is the all time Buffalo Bills leader in pass attempts and pass completions (and probably incompletions) in a game. That record is stamped in the Buffalo Bills record books.

Also the only the QB to play for the Buffalo Bills this millennium with a winning record 7-5.
