Reflection on stadium renovation

I have no problem calling anyone anything to their face. And I wasn't calling you a douchbag. I was simply stating many douchbags were complaining about that over and over again at the beginning of the year. The same people that would booze at their tailgate and walk Into the stadium half cocked and wonder why the game already started.

You clearly stated you are not one of those kind of people. That's fine. It is what it is. The facts are still simple. Get in a little early or miss some of the game. Can't expect to just walk in whenever you please and for the game to start the second you sit in your seat and the hell with everyone else at the stadium. You know what time kickoff is and have known all year long. So it's not like it's a surprise.

I've had seasons since I moved back to Buffalo since 2006 and before that had been to dozens of games. 1 time in my life I made the mistake of heading into the game late and I learned that time that it'll never happen again. I made my choice.

The old gate system was almost exactly the same only not as big but more gates. Overall, there are more lines now. Depends on what gate you enter. Of your on the north side of the stadium, it's gonna be busier than the south side. If your on the east side, it's not nearly as busy as the west. Basically, if you walk farther away from Southwestern or Abbott, the lines become less and less. But if your in line at 12pm it's about a 3 minute wait. Pick your poison.

And I still stand pat on the fact that heated concourses is not only ridiculous, it's borderline crazy to expect that out of any outdoor stadium.

When you compare one to something else its all in the same. Heat lamps at hockey rinks must be insane too but I notice everyone enjoys them. Its an inexpensive way for a little more comfort in a dated stadium. Anyways whatever, theres some nice things and some not so nice things.

i call it the way I see it. You started a thread to complain about the changes when many of them are on you.

You don't like how long it takes to get in.... Get in earlier.

You don't like how cold it is.... Wear a thicker jacket.

You don't like the fact that your concessions don't take credit cards... Carry cash

You don't like your bathrooms... Hold It or find one you do like.

You don't like the food... Bring in a wegmans sub.

Fixed.

What is your take on the 130 million dollar renovation? Personally, I have been trying to figure out where the 130 mil went to. Is there some improvements? Sure there is but overall I see it as lipstick on a pig. I am going to give my pro and cons and explain why.

-Getting to the lower bowl is much easier as they made new stairways and got rid of the winding ones. I sit on the 50, ten rows up and this was nice. +1

- The new gates are terrible, always jammed up. My son and I got in line at 1220 for one of the games and missed 3 minutes of the first quarter. It was never that bad and obviously was a marketing choice to get people to come even earlier to spend money once inside. -1

-Those damn boulders all over the outside of the stadium is plain ridiculous! Why not put in some large gas fire pits with outside vendors near by? And while they are at it have a band playing. -1

-The black paint scheme looks borderline gothic on the outside. It should of been Bills colors. -1

-The new Bills store is nice, but not much of an improvement overall and you have to enter the stadium on game day to access it. =

- Ah the restrooms!!!! Same darn urinals I have been pissing in since I was 4. They did get rid of those trough hand washing stations finally. -1

- The dingy concourses- I feel like I am in total filth. The concession stands are virtually the same as well, and please don't tell me that at least they take credit. It is 2014 and we were way behind the curve. And why not have heat lamps in the concourses? -1

-The new jumbotron and opposite end corner screens are really nice. I love it and give a +2 for this.

Overall I came up with a -2. Sure its a simple approach, but I just don't see the 130 million and overall I am disappointed.

Agree completely.

But the worst aspect is actually leaving the stadium with less gates. There used to be 2 separate flows of traffic on either side of the fence and now the sunny side is totally enclosed. It's like a tidal wave of civilly engineered douchebags trying to escape thru a fraction of the exits of the past There is going to be a point where fans start expecting the team to win and they will lose a highly charged game and some fights will be breaking out over people crashing into each other leaving.

1. Put down the beer bong and get into the stadium at noon. Take your time, wall right in to the stadium with almost zero wait, take a piss (I'll get to that in a minute), grab a beer and a pretzel (also in a minute) and get to your seat by the time they announce the starting ayers and the national a them. 20 minutes is seriously all it takes. But if you must insist on that extra minutes of tailgating, don't bother to complain about it.

2. Those "damn boulders" are more than just a waste of space. They are for security purposes. Regardless of you feel this way or not, the NFL is absolutely worried about terrorist and other attacks on their facilities, especially when there's 80k people involved every Sunday. Those boulders are a more visually pleasing way of placing parking lot barriers so that a giant vehicle with explosives could pull right up and drive into the stadium.

3. Can't argue too much about the paint scheme. While I agree that Blue and Red would be better becaise of team colors, black is completely neutral and it doesn't look bad.

4. The restrooms... Walk around the stadium and do some looking. I know you don't have much time to because you wait until the last minute to put down the beer bong and finally walk to the stadium, but many of the bathrooms have been remodeled and some have been added around the stadium. I have no troughs in my restroom and there was about a 30 second wait at halftime getting to a urinal. It actually took longer to wash my hands than it did waiting in line to use the pisser.

5. The concession stands have taken credit for years. I haven't brought cash into the stadium since 2010 and manage to buy food and beer all the time. The stands are also new and do offer new food items and are much better than they used to be. The chicken fingers from the La Nova stands are good. The Tacos seem to be a huge hot and the roast beef doesn't look to bad. As far as how packed they are. Again, take a walk around the stadium. If you head over to the Coors Light zone you will find a row of beer vendors that you virtually can walk up to and have a beer within 1 minute. Again, take a walk.

6. Heat lamps in the concourse? Really? This just explains it all. I'm sorry. I said out down the beer bong and get into the stadium. What I meant to say was out down your bottle of Dom and pack up the basket with 10 year aged Brie and put it into the back of your $60k Chevrolet Tahoe with heated leather seats and get into the stadium early.

;-)

As for you.....learn how to tailgate son. Anybody who leaves their tailgate and needs to get a pretzel or a boiled frickin hotdog the moment they walk in is a tailgating failure.

FAILURE.

34 is right, the gates take longer to get in than before...though they are more orderly.....and that fits well with getting people to come in early and drop an extra wad of bills on food they normally wouldn't waste any of the alotted 10K of calories on at a good tailgate.

fyi. I never said I anything about me leaving my tailgate for a pretzel or a boiled hot dog. I was stating what new concessions were available. I know how to tailgate. I've been doing it for 20 years.

And I'm not your F#%King son.

Maybe I should be telling you to Learn to get a watch and make it into the gates in time for kickoff!!!

Look. If you really think it's worse than before. So be it. I can't help it if not everyone can learn that some things change and maybe your entry before the renovations aren't the same as they are now.

Again, I leave a few minutes early to ensure I get into the stadium, get a few beers, take a piss and get to my seats before the opening kickoff it's not F%#King rocket science.

And telling me how to tailgate because I leave 20 minutes earlier??? Really? What time do you get to your tailgate in the morning? Because I'm usually at Hammers lot by 730am on game day.

Anyone who waits more than 5 minutes to get into a game simply hasn't explored the gates enough. We go to gate 2 at about 12:35-12:40 every week and are in the stadium within 5 minutes. Every week, week after week. These new gates totally rock in my opinion. I don't know why people wait in the longest lines when they can walk 30 feet farther and get right in.

I may be in the minority, but I like pretty much all the renovations. If I had to sit down and come up with good ideas on how to improve the stadium, I would have a really hard time coming up with anything meaningful. I think it is a terrific place to watch football. I can't believe how spoiled people have become. If you want luxury, then buy a club seat and sit in the bar for Christ's sake.

thats where I'm at Dave.

I've never waited more than 5 minutes. I often get Intoy seat with about 12-15 minutes left on the clock before kickoff.

And the luxuries... Same here. You want more? Spring for the club seats or better.

As it is, the people between the 30s are too wine and cheesy for real football anyway.

eh' we're getting a new multiplex anyway so don't sweat it.

won't the boulders make it easier for terrorist to hide behind. B-)

I was disappointed by the renovations.

I thought the NFL was doing all it could to compete with the product on TV, and trying to make the stadium experience as close to that as possible. (They don't have to do it for me, since I've been to games since '68 and have had seasons since '86, so I'm not the watch it on TV type).

But, the things I thought were being addressed never were. I didn't really notice any better time getting into the stadium............I thought the cell reception problem was supposed to get better. I thought we were even going to get wifi. I cannot get my emails most of the game, texting seems a little better.

The lines for the concessions and rest rooms seem the same, if not worse. These were supposed to be addressed, as well.

And, the friggin replay operator sucks! Things that you would have seen 3 angles on at home, you don't get one replay on.

I went to 4 games this year, and here was my observations

PLuses

1) New gates were great.Always used gate 5, get to stadium about 12.25..in in less than 5 minutes. No worries what so ever and i thought big improvement.

2) The extra concessions stands in the upper deck behind the walls were friggen awesome. Never waited more than 2 minutes at the two games i sat up there.

3) In terms of credit.it's not they didn't take before, it was that they did not have the ability to take at the POS right up front in line...that has been addressed,

4) Bathrooms were fresher...did not see a big improvement though.

Negatives in terms of my expectations

1) No redzone. I thought they were going to put on redzone during TV timeouts and halftime on one of the new boards..as someone mentioned helps to compete with the TV experience.

2) No TV's in the bathrooms.

In terms of heat in the concources, just remember the goa lwhen it came to the concourses.Namely, could not make them bigger, so how do we move people in and out quicker so they seem bigger with less people in them. Putting in heaters where people would congregate would do the exact opposite of that.

I get why that is not an option.

Having said all that, i am all 4 a full renovation of the Ralph instead of a new stadium. Would not mind being 6 feet under and the Ralph still being the Bills home.

Thank god those boulders are there otherwise we might get done blowed up by terrorists.

Wait until the lawsuits starts when $ch!ttfaced fans fall face first into those boulders.

We as a nation need to GET OVER this fear of terrorists. It's disgraceful.

Remember what Ben Franklin said about sacrificing Liberty for security??????
