Oh yes, your projections were "at odds with" reality. So you couldn't even predict what was going to happen a couple years ahead yet when you extrapolate the same flawed assumptions over decades or centuries, we should rely on those fantasies?? George Burgess, director of the International Shark Attack File at the University of Florida, warned that the United States could expect more than 100 attacks this year – thanks, in part, to global warming. ‘We should have more bites this year than last,’ Burgess, said in an interviewshortly before the Memorial Day holiday weekend that signals the unofficial start of America’s summer vacation – and beach – season. In 2015, there were 98 shark attacks, including six fatalities, according to Burgess. But this year could surpass the number as shark populations recover from historiclows in the 1990s, while the world’s human population has grown and rising temperatures are leading more people to go swimming, Burgess said. Still, the university notes that fatal shark attacks, while undeniably graphic, are so infrequent that beachgoers face a higher risk of being killed by sand collapsing as the result of over achieving sand castle builders. A panel of Democrats voted Friday to approve a final draft of the party’s platform to promote “Progressive Democratic Values,” which apparently includes investigating energy companies who “misled” shareholders about global warming. “Another joint proposal calling on the Department of Justice to investigate alleged corporate fraud on the part of fossil fuel companies who have reportedly misled shareholders and the public on the scientific reality of climate change was also adopted by unanimous consent,” according to the Democratic National Convention’s website. The drafting committee, led by DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, has decided to back ongoing investigations by mostly Democratic state attorneys general into ExxonMobil’s stance on global warming.
