johnwalter Posted November 7, 2014 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Jim Schwartz has eased the pain of losing Pettine by coming in and doing a gangbusters job, so it's easy to forget what's happening down in Cleveland, but Mike Pettine deserves some serious Kudos. Without Josh Gordon, without Alex Mack, without Jordan Cameron, and while juggling a Johnny Football media fire that he has miraculously extinguished, Mike Pettine has the Browns at 6-3 and at the top of a competitive division. Give the man some props! We'll see. I'm kind of like Hill after the game, Cleveland has yet to impress me with any of their wins this year. Gosh, imagine if someone started an I Think Thread on all sorts of possibilities, ya know? Bruce Arians came here? Tressman came here? Pettine was DC under them? Arians the OC with Pettine HC? Today, as it stands, I am pretty comfortable to where we are at - I don't think any coach was poised to come in and pull off a successful campaign in 3 seasons or less. If I said I thought Marrone was ahead of the curve I would be neglecting many of the flaws of the team is fielding, specifically at his forte - the OL. As it is I think we all need to reserve a little judgement for Marrone until the end of next year. He's solid. 2 picks in the first round next year….already set in a lot of key positions… If I were them and committed to Hoyer, I am pounding the phone in Dallas to get Jerruh to surrender their 1st rd pick for JFF. It was a long dark road to this point and anyone thinking the light is just going to flash over us is sadly mistaken. i think we were a little better in 2012 than the stats and memories play out to looking like. for instance, if today we were dealt an injury to mario, dareus checked out for 2 months and hughes got hurt -- wed probably look pretty rough some weeks. Hoyers accuracy and release makes him a quality starter. His passes are right on the money, he has a lot of brady in him.well trained. when weeden came in last year in our game the passes were all over the place.Cant believe we lost that game. Morrison, Bennett and Shepard. All of them, out of the league. Moats, the backup, ain't doing nothing worth mentioning on the garbage Steeler team. Yes, I know 2 sacks in 9 games/6 starting with 14 tackles... but he's a specialist at best. Our entire LB corp is out of the league from 2012 or a backup in Pburgh. They kicked the Bengals ass without their top three weapons in the receiving game. It will be a hard fought game but we should beat them. I think they finish 9-7 even at 6-3 now. Actually with a little greater sense of urgency from the front office prior to season #1 Marrone/Pettine probably get the Bills to the playoffs so I disagree that this was some kind of 3 year re-build. Arians would have obviously been the better choice but this team did not lack for talent. The Bills have slightly better personnel overall this year despite losing Byrd to FA and Kiko to injury......by virtue of adding Sammy and improving at so many positions with experience.......but the OL as a whole has regressed GREATLY. Glenn was actually good last year and Wood wasn't nearly as awful as he is this year and Urbik was a serviceable player. Now I'm not so sure... what the Browns Buffalo Bills have that's worth 7 points a game is a very strong belief in themselves and their system.... I think this is now true in Buffalo.. I think the Brownies GM has pulled his proverbial ... out of his behind , maybe ? They have a decent staff with a common vision seemingly. Not to short change Pettine. Has stabilized what once was a troubled team . Good for him. Glad to see good coaches climb the ladder. Thank goodness the guys who matter at One Bills Drive scored J Schwartz in a swooping kill . Best move Bills have made in a long ass time. Oh wait. When we scored Mike Pettine for a season , that was pretty impressive and lot of fun to watch the D play. TY Mike P. and best wishes ! I agree that Pettine deserves some kudos for the job he had done this year, but the Bills defense is better this year than last, and going into this weeks games, the Bills and Browns had the same record, so I am not sure why you could say say Pettine would be better than Marrone at this point.
