  1. If there are no QB's at 21/22 and they have been unable to move up, I'd make the pick at 21 and try very hard to move down and acquire more picks for my 22nd. They have lots of holes and could use younger players and less middling free agents
  2. Yes! With Bryce Paup if a 3rd is allowed. Would love to see 2018 draft add these types of missing link players.
  3. Need 2 DT's and one of the 2 with pass rush/collapse the pocket ability would help. Need pass rush from either a DE beside Hughes or a line backer as well. The good thing I guess is if they can get the elusive "franchise QB" in the draft any other good pick they make will address a need besides secondary and RB (and depth at either would help). (Right OT, OG, WR, LB, Dline,). It actually is amazing to me that they've won 6 games with the paucity of talent and depth they have on this roster.
  4. That's very true. I forgot about that. It just seems like they never do anything out there but they played ok in that one.
  5. Under 100. Fall behind early, throw a lot. When was the last good game the Bills played in California?
  6. Jets have MUCH better receivers than the Bills. Not a Jets fan but they look well coached and have really played to McCown’s strengths. Bills wideouts are the worst I’ve ever seen here in Buffalo in my 55 years of watching this team
  7. This offense is unfixable. They have the worst wide receiving corp in the history of the franchise. They ludicrously decided to change the only successful thing from the last 2 years, the offensive blocking scheme that had the Bills first in rushing offense for 2 straight years, and replace it with one not suitable for their talent on the O-Line. McDermott seems like a bright fella but that was Rex Ryan like dumb. I see no hope for the O till they replace the personnel on it. THAT is the problem with regime change when the incoming regime can't keep what is working and replace what is not.
  8. If not sold out, it was pretty close. Had JK and his family a row or 2 ahead of me. It was a very unique performance and the review in the BN captured it pretty well. ALL the performers were tremendous. Needless to say the accoustics in Kleinhans are exceptional. Bill is not a singer per se but his voice was good, his inflections and readings were outstanding and, needless to say, his comedic timing is perfect. Though not involved last night, the other pro team in Buffalo is the orchestra and I am looking forward to seeing them this year for the first time in a long long time. Anyone that can play at the level of these people gets my attention and respect even if exactly what they are playing might not be in my wheelhouse.
  9. Mack Yoho. Kenny Davis. Terrence McGee. Is Fred Jackson too big of a name? Bob Kalsu. Lou Piccone. Tony Greene and Robert James
  10. None. We're tanking. They just won't acknowledge it. If anything, I see them cutting players we think will start and bringing in cheap marginal backups to fill roster spots.
  11. Love that! Midseason form with that answer. Anyone Whaley drafted or put on the roster is fair game to get cut. Anyone. Take your pick
  12. What are the cut down dates again? i know it changed drastically from the past.
  13. Still the same Leroi? Any word on subsequent rounds?
  14. Me either. Way too many needs to give up picks and fall in love with this guy or that. Unless it is an elite QB and I don't think there are any in this draft, then no!!
  15. That certainly may well be true. I have no idea. I didn't cite his article to boost him but rather because I thought it was interesting, both in thinking about the draft as a process and for what was said about some of this year's prospecrs.
  16. I did too. . One of the more interesting draft pieces I've read actually. That system makes so much sense to me. I also was interested in Lombardi's take on this years class and his failure with Mingo.
  17. This is a really interesting read (at least to me) on how the Pats rate players coming out and who fits as a potentially immediate starter on both offense and defense this year. I particularly agree with the reasoning for Belichick's trade down philosophy: https://theringer.com/2017-nfl-draft-top-prospects-leonard-fournette-deshaun-watson-302c5ae6434c
  18. 1) 51-3 2) Meeting Ralph in an elevator pregame on a Monday night game in Dallas in the 80's (Bills lost to Dallas so game was not memorable) 3) Watching Bills in a Super Bowl in person at the Rose Bowl (forget the game, at least I got to see one with them in it in person) 4) Being at the KC and Denver AFC Championship games (in addition to the Raiders game)
  19. My bad. I favor trading picks this year for more picks this year. They only have 6 which is not enough for the holes they have. In a deep draft like this one, you can find quality with only slight gradations of difference in talent, for many of the rounds. Why get one guy if you can get more and fill more holes depth wise at least?
  20. Amen to this! Should have just quoted you rather than trying my own post.
  21. In my opinion it will not be a successful draft unless they do so. It's a deep draft. If you can keep moving down in Round 1 you'll still get a really good player in 1 but also more really good players in rounds 2, 3 and 4. I don't even care if there is a guy they really really really like. When you have the holes this team has you shouldn't fall in love with one player. I don't care HOW elite the guy is. Is 1 guy worth 3 good players? To me, only if it is a QB. Keep getting more good ones all atround the field! This team is dying for some depth (and youthful energy). Many prior drafts have failed or we've traded up rather than down. It just doesn't seem like a sustainable approach to have to fill over half the roster with free agents. They need more players. Almost everywhere! Trade down (if possible) and get them!
  22. The Bills need bodies and cheap labor to avoid having to the fill the roster with free agents every year. There are a lot of roster holes to fill. It seems to me that there is depth in the draft at WR, CB and S. They might get very productive functional guys in the 3-4 round range. I personally hope they trade down as often as it is feasible and possible to do so and acquire picks throughout the entire draft. If people think we need an OT (Right side) as I do, I don't think there is much beyond round 2 that would qualify as starter material (we already have a backup level player starting). To fill this hole, they would have to prioritize it over WR, S, CB and DL/LB and hope to fill those other slots with acquired picks further down. In a draft deep in these positions that might be doable. Under no circumstances am I drafting a QB in round 1. I just do not see the necessary talent there to justify it. That player is NOT starting this year with TT here at his salary. Trade down early and often would be my motto throughout.
