D.C. Attorney General Ignores Court Order, Refuses Gun Permits

May 25, 2016

By Devin Watkins

Less than a year ago, Kim Davis ignored a court order from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky and refused to issue a marriage license to same-sex couples. She was held in contempt of court, served five days in jail, and was ruthlessly attacked in the media.

Now the office of Karl Racine, the Washington, D.C. attorney general, has ordered D.C. government employees to ignore a court order from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The order by the D.C. District Court Judge Richard Leon was to stop denying individuals applying for a concealed-carry permit from requiring a “good reason,” and to immediately update the forms to no longer require that.

The rule of law is worth more than this by an officer of the court such as the attorney general. The D.C. attorney general is free to seek a stay of the court order from the D.C. Circuit Court, but until that opinion is properly stayed it must be obeyed. It is the AG’s duty to see that the court order is properly followed even if he thinks it is wrong. It will take time for D.C. to update the forms as required, but the AG’s office cannot legally order them to ignore the court order and not at least start to draft new forms to inform people that they are not required to submit a “good cause” to exercise a constitutional right

Audio Shows Katie Couric Documentary Deceptively Edited Interview with Pro-Gun Activists

http://freebeacon.com/issues/audio-shows-katie-couric-gun-documentary-deceptively-edited-interview-pro-gun-activists/

The makers of a new Katie Couric documentary on gun violence deceptively edited an interview between Couric and a group of gun rights activists in an apparent attempt to embarrass the activists, an audio recording of the full interview shows.

At the 21:48 mark of Under the Gun a scene of Katie Couric interviewing members of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a gun rights organization, is shown.

Couric can be heard in the interview asking activists from the group, “If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun?”

The documentary then shows the activists sitting silently for nine awkward seconds, unable to provide an answer. It then cuts to the next scene. The moment can be watched here: At the link

However, raw audio of the interview between Katie Couric and the activists provided to the Washington Free Beacon shows the scene was deceptively edited. Instead of silence, Couric’s question is met immediately with answers from the activists. A back and forth between a number of the league’s members and Couric over the issue of background checks proceeds for more than four minutes after the original question is asked.

Listen to the raw audio; it’s yet another reminder that anyone being interviewed should always demand to record separate audio and/or video. If if the producer or journalist refuses, you can pretty much be assured of what’s to come.

Here's the immediate response to the dishonest Katie Couric. There is NO 9 second silence whatsoever. She dishonestly completely truncates the group's response to her pointed question.

This is despicable "journalism". She should be fired.

More than that she should be exposed as an example of the fraudulent media. How simple it is to totally misrepresent. I don't know how she sleeps at night knowing how dishonest she is at her job. I suppose she does though. All left wing extremists believe in any means to a end for their cause.

The correct thread...........................

Folks, they are simply, absolutely, totally out of their ever-loving minds. This is the dumbest possible thing.

A gun cannot commit a crime. This is a fact of science and law. A person commits a crime. In this case, we even know the name of the person. And we even know what he himself declared as his reason for committing the crime. The gun did not make any claims. The gun did not swear allegiance to anyone. The gun does not have a birth certificate. It does not have parents from Afghanistan.

I mean, they don't suggest it, I'm not rephrasing it. They literally say the gun did it.

THINK PROGRESS...................yeah right.

FROM GAY GUN-RIGHTS GROUP THE PINK PISTOLS, a comment on the Orlando shooting.

From you good link on the Pink Pistols:

“This is exactly the kind of heinous act that justifies our existence. At such a time of tragedy, let us not reach for the low-hanging fruit of blaming the killer’s guns. Let us stay focused on the fact that someone hated gay people so much they were ready to kill or injure so many. A human being did this. The human being’s tools are unimportant when compared to the bleakness of that person’s soul. I say again, GUNS did not do this. A human being did this, a dead human being. Our job now is not to demonize the man’s tools, but to condemn his acts and work to prevent such acts in the future.”
