Ok. This is over. The coaching staff held him out as a precaution today. Marrone announced during his interview after practice. Mario reported that he had a sore foot ad they held him out until the training staff could take a good look at it. We all need to calm down.

I wonder how that conversation went. They just arrived on campus for chrissakes. Tell me Marrone wasn't thinking "you what?? when? how???"

Bills fans who have been around a while should be used to our stud DE being AWOL at camp...as long as the results are there when the live bullets fly, I'm good.

The trouble is last year when the bullets were live he didn't show up

Ummm.... he is a professional football player, a sport known to be quite violent and, over time to take a toll on a person's health. Some injuries are traumatic, some happen as things degrade over time until they reach a critical point and begin to cause pain or limited movement. I am 52 and play soccer three times each week. I have lots of injuries that pop up which can't be traced to anything that happened on the field.

I don't see, apart from jealousy, why the amount of money he makes is at all relevant to the discussion. Oh, and he was at practice (you claim he "didn't show his face"). He reported the problem and the team, not Mario, the team, made the decision to keep him out of drills, etc. until they could evaluate the problem so they know whether or not this is a small problem that could turn in to a big problem if they don't let him sit down for a few days and heal. Given their investment in him, any other course of action would be foolish. Further, Williams is obligated to report any physical problem he is having, again, the team has a vested interest in his health and well being.

Ok, it always amazes me how professional athletes seem to get these issues by walking through college dorms. The report is out ... Mario Williams held out of practice because the poor multi-millionaire has a sore foot. WHERE IN THE WORLD did he pick that up? Were they playing kick the can in the dorms? So big Mario your toes are hurting you ... don't you think that you have an obligation to at least show your face on DAY ONE of training camp? Aren't there some drills that you can participate with your foot in an ice bucket? What about being supportive of your teammates? This is not a good omen ... his poor little footsy. My goodness ... how many of us go to work with some minor issues and then take care not to aggravate what ails us ... not Mario. http://blogs.buffalo...-has-sore-foot/

With so much $ invested, and so much at stake, I don't think the players have much say in the matter, at least at this point. I'd wager their absolutely encouraged to report ANY soreness or injury to the training staff and seek immediate treatment. This isn't high school or college. These players are investments on part of the organization. If anything is or could be amiss with their bodies, they seek treatment. It's that simple. If it was game time he'd be playing. But at this point, it's about immediately treating things that could turn into actual injuries when it counts, before they happen.

I pray the Bills rid themselfs of this HUGE mistake this offseason and fool someone into trading for him or just cut him flat out.

There's the kind of well crafted and thoughtful analysis I come to TBD to read. Flat out cut him! Now is the time!
