Well he did seem to get this one right. You addressed the messenger/headline and not the message.

The whole thing was spin. Why not just use Bill Clinton's own words? Can you possibly make your argument using the actually source or do you need the help of right wing spin minions?

Actually your being to kind. Since WWII we have never gone more than 3 consecutive years where growth remained under 3%. We are now heading into the 11th consecutive year of annual growth under 3%.

Doesn't matter to the left. Vast majority of left voters don't know what GDP is and if they do they don't care about growth rates. That's too much big picture thinking. Left politicians are making a great living with a patchwork quilt constituency made up of small minded grievance voters willing to sell their vote for a small personal benefit or the promise of making someone else pay or some other faux issue. Mushroom supporters. Keep them in the dark and throw **** on them.

That's because when we talk about GDP growth it's a very abstract concept for most voters, they know it should be higher but don't really feel it impact their lives. However, "73 straight months of job growth" is more easily witnessed by the average voter. Democrats offer simpler solutions, free or subsidized healthcare, more money for unemployment insurance, more money for welfare assistance, punish banks for ripping you off (so they think), etc etc.

It's tough to compete against that when you are dealing with a largely apathetic and ignorant population.

Then again, elements of the other side aren't too much better, build wall keep "invaders" out, transgenders potentially could threaten our kids in bathrooms, just lower taxes and cut spending and watch the economy boom.

Easily explained by the Public Choice Theory.

In order for democracy to keep the self-interest of politicians in check, voters need to have an understanding of what they’re voting on and what policies are good for the whole of society. This would take a tremendous amount of time and effort. A single bill may be several hundred pages of technical legalese, and most elected officials vote on hundreds of bills in each term. For a citizen to be informed enough to know what policies are good for society vs. good only for the politicians is incredibly costly. Yet the individual vote of a citizen has almost no chance of changing the outcome or conferring any benefit. The rational response is to be ignorant of policies, because the cost of being informed is so much greater than the chance of benefiting from being informed. A dedicated, informed voter has one vote that is cancelled out by just one ignorant voter.

I just get the sense that, in the final months of his reign, POTUS is acting like the little kid who sneaks down cellar and runs his electric train around the track as fast as he can waiting for it to derail. When it happens, he has his excuse ready-made for publication: Congress wouldn't play nice with me.

Republicans really are not offering anything to grow the economy, though. What in the world is the GOP saying will grow the economy? Cutting 20 million people off of health care by getting rid of Obamacare? Most voters see through that nonsense. I've seen proposals to cut the corporate tax rate, but to voters who lived through the promise of the Bush tax cuts and the miracles that was suppose to provide just see that as another tax cut for the wealthy. Can't really blame them

That is the heart of it right there.

Well, that and one party thinks it's job is to be Santa Claus and has the other party now trying to become elves. The high priest of the American Cargo Cult will simply be passing the baton to another fully indoctrinated "progressive" dedicated to the proposition that all votes can be bought - or at least enough votes to win - if the pandering with false promises and carefully targeted demonization of people who don't believe that government should be at the center of our lives and the main source of our well being, is continually promoted by all means possible.

You realize that the Bush tax cuts increased the take home paychecks or every taxpaying American that earned W-2 income, correct? You also realize that the economy grew at this time and the tax receipts to the Federal government went up. How did that not help people and the economy?

All true. Yet, medium household income actually declined during the Bush presidency. Americans were worse off

Americans were worse of compared to what?

1) Go away and do your own homework

2) You know, a reasonably intelligent person--obviously not you--would know that they were worse off than before Bush took office. Duh!
