Q: In the past four months how has Doug Whaley’s role grown and evolved?

RB: It’s been consistent with years past, really the past couple of years. Doug continues to mature within his role. Buddy keeps providing him opportunity within the department. There’s lot of speculation for whatever reason related to that. Buddy Nix is our general manager and will be for a long time. As I mentioned before, Doug is a vital part to the process but when it comes to football decisions in this organization, one person and one person only makes decisions and that’s Buddy Nix.

A long time in the NFL can be measured in months. Wasn't it last year about this time Buddy Nix was opining "Ryan Fitzpatrick is our quarterback and will be for a long time"?

I think its already happening as this draft doesn't hv a Nix feel to it

How does it not have a "Nix feel to it"?

Since Buddy got here the Bills have drafted almost exclusively for need and that's exactly what this draft was. They were receiver desperate, short on LB's, they had dumped their starting SS and their starting FS is going to want upwards of $10M per. And oh yeah, their QB situation is perilous. Kevin Kolb is a laughingstock. They had crying needs that they attempted to address with draft picks. It hasn't proven to be a successful approach in previous Nix drafts, but make no mistake, it is the same approach. Drafting for need.

Hell, last year they took a low production, undersized speed receiver in the third round.......and this year the EXACT same. This draft has Buddy Nix all over it......it's just that this time he is drafting for a different style of offense and defense.

That's somewhat cherry-picking Buddy trends. He usually southern guys and we went west, and northwest and southwest with four high picks. He usually likes character guys and we took two (three counting Da'Rick) that were problem guys. He likes three-four year starters and we took a few that played 1-2 years. To me, this had Marrone, Hackett and Pettine all over it.

Every bad team drafts for need because they have so many needs.

His name is BRANDON.

this board can be tedious , i know there are fact-checker police, but now spelling??? on a friggin football talk site! please.. stop.. stick to content!

The entirety of the guy's post history is calling "Branden" a scumbag and an "idiot." He mixes in "inept" once in awhile.

He's a bona fide troll and a person who can't spell names right and yet calls others idiots shouldn't get a free pass.

If he actually added some value around here you might have a valid case but this guy shouldn't be allowed to post here.

Drafting CJ Spiller was drafting for need?

So who thinks Buddy gives the keys to Whaley now? Nix could stay on as a scout or something.

PTR

only to park the car.

lol

Buddya has the best team assembled he could imagine and knows it. Let him gloat a bit.

The encouraging point might be, he does give Doug driving lessons on the weekends
