Have you ever worn Bills gear to an away game?

Recommended Posts

More than half don't know. Most of the "M!@#$s" are Tom Brady era fair weather fans. GO BILLS!!

I do all the time as well. In Miami you would get some heckling.

The best was in New England like 3 years ago (Bills lost a close game). I had on my Andre Reed jersey and some guy was heckling me on the way into the stadium. The last thing that he said was, "Who's Reed anyways"? My cousin who is a 95 lb girl from Boston explained it to him in a rather esmasculating manner. Everyone was laughing at that guy.

That is what you deal with in NE. Bar none the least educated football fans in the country. No one cared about the Patriots before the tuck rule. Next time you meet a "die hard" Pats fan ask them who were the starting QBs from their first Super Bowl appearance to now. At least half won't know.

Bills hat and hooded sweatshirt to Cleveland game in 2012. Tailgated with BIL who is a Brownie season ticket holder. No problems, although got a lot of, "Go Browns!" from the Cleveland faithful.

I've always worn a Bills hat to games away. I've Ben to San Francisco, Seattle, Oakland and San Diego and never had a problem. I got more comments at a home game on Monday night against Dallas. That was a brutal night- lots of Dallas fans in Buffalo and fights all over.

Bills at Browns "Ronnie Harmon drop" game, back in January of 1990, pre-internet, and the days when 'tickets going on sale Saturday' meant physically waiting in line at AM&A's very early Saturday morning. Made the mistake of answering the question "which section would you like?" with a youthfully exuberant 'how about two down there in the Dawg Pound'. Drove down the 90 with three other buddies, fresh out of high school, two of whom had seats with other fellow Bills fans travelling via bus. Checked into the Stouffer Tower City Plaza down near Cleveland Municipal Stadium the night before, saw OJ in the lobby prepping for NBC work, no big deal, no problem, the Bills are going to win this one. My buddy and I dressed head-to-toe in red white and blue for the game, our outfits topped off with our new Bills shiny-red OSHA-approved hard helmets. Whooped it up in the hotel room before making the short walk to the stadium as game time approached, and with pre-game beverages running their course, felt quite invincible. Hello Cleveland!! Let's go!!! this is the playoffs, baby!

First sign of trouble occurred as we approached our entry gate near the Dawg Pound. A "Buffalo sucks!" chant was growing louder as we waited to have our tickets ripped, and we then slowly realized that all sets of eyes were focused squarely on us with our shiny new red helmets, nary another Bills supporter to be found. Have you ever had an angry mob chanting, pointing, and staring you down? It's a little unsettling. Recall thinking, 'OK, this might not have been the best idea'.

Got to our seats, the last two on the aisle about halfway up from field level, in mid-Dawg Pound. Faced a barrage of insults, jeers and threats ... which we were certainly opening ourselves up to with our choice of threads (and especially helmets). We vowed from that moment on to go incognito to any and all future away games (like the two quiet, un-heckled Bills fans in front of us).

Amazing game, Beebe gets bounced off his head, and the Kelly-era Bills come of age and of course come up just short. Browns fans would get right up in our grills and threaten all manners of bodily harm. At one point someone came down the aisle from behind and in one motion ripped my buddy's helmet off and chucked it ten rows lower. A short time later, a Browns enthusiast came down the aisle and told my buddy that he was "... going to piss in that helmet ... and dump it on your head!!" He sure sounded like he meant business, but this thankfully never came to pass. I believe that it was broken into pieces and devoured by him and/or his fellow crazy denizens of the Dawg Pound as a sort of playoff biscuit.

Felt quite demoralized and less than human afterwards, and on the long walk back to hotel, someone grabbed my helmet from behind and tossed it over a fence. Hadn't we been through enough, Cleveland? I climbed it to retrieve my precious headgear ... they weren't getting both of those helmets, dammit! I really don't blame Browns fans, we were young and stupid and pretty much asking for it. And come playoff time, I am certain that I have (verbally) treated neighboring fans of the opposition at the Ralph in ways that I am not proud of in retrospect, perhaps as payback for this day.

Went Richie Incognito to Bills at Steelers playoff tilt at Three Rivers the next year, a nice Bills victory, and had a wonderful experience. Even if you are outed when you forego a high-five to a neighbor after an opposing score, you don't have to walk around the concourse sticking out like a sore thumb. Also went to Bills at Dolphins playoff game in ~1999, a huge game from Mouldsey, Thurman's swan song I believe, with Trace Armstrong sacking Flutie to seal it. No issues, Dolphins fans/orange seats seem to be pretty tolerant of us snow birds.

Yes, for games in Charlotte and Atlanta. There were as many Bills fans as panthers fans in Charlotte, and the group i was with were way more obnoxious in ATL than any of the dumbass bandwagon Failcons fans.

So you and your fellow Bills fans were being apparently very obnoxious, but the Falcon fans who were not were the dumbasses.

This thread has opened my eyes a lot.

I too was at that game - my first roadie. We were at about the 10 yard line toward the dawg pound so we could see it pretty well and were glad we weren't in it. We had a couple of guys behind us talk smack for a while, but when it got interesting in the 4th quarter they shut up til the pick at the end. All we had to say to them after was "Denver's gonna kick your ass".

I wore my Bills hat, jersey, jacket, jockstrap and other items to the game in Fedex a few years back against the Redskins when Joe Gibbs called back to back timeouts. But then again, there were more BIlls fans in the parking lot we were in then Skins fans. Worst football atmosphere out of the 4 or 5 Stadiums I have been to.

I wore my Bills gear to a Bills-Dolphins game in Miami - the Bills last playoff win. There were 10,000 or more Bills fans there and we were heckled and booed and flipped off a lot. Great fun!

I also wore Bills gear to a couple 49er games where I was mostly ignored. We won one of those games handily and as 49er fans left in disgust in the 4th quarter, I could proudly see more blue in the stands than red.

  • Dodgers fans go to Arizona to watch team play Diamondbacks
  • Dodgers fans pay $3,000 apiece to sit in the ground-level suite directly behind home plate (where the fans are seen in their Dodger gear on TV on every pitch)
  • Diamondbacks owner sees this, and orders security to force the Dodgers fans to wear Diamondbacks gear

“Though the stadium was publicly funded, the Diamondbacks say they have the right to dictate what fans do and do not wear, just as teams can determine whether fans are allowed to bring signage into stadiums.”

Yes to a couple of Raiders games in LA (only got punched once) and to a couple of Chargers games. Oh and even thought I hate the Dodgers the D'Backs owner sounds like a major douche.

Been to Patriots, Redskin, Panthers and Ravens games in Bill gear. Booed by the Patriots, Got picture taken with Washington "Hogs", Was told by several Charlotte police officers that out of all 31 visiting teams, the best were the Bills fans,in the stadium and in the tailgate parking lots. In Baltimore, went to a Bills tailgate at Slider's Bar across from Camden Yards stadium. All kinds of Ravens fans were in attendance. Lots of "sympathy" and joking about being a fan for over 40 years of the Bill trials and tribulations. Never been totally abused at a game. Most of the issues were alcohol related and just considered the source.

Entertaining story, appreciate it. The playoffs are a different animal. I have been to a ton of road games for the Bills & I just don't get people trying to flaunt their team's colors in enemy territory. Sit down, relax, have a few beers, slap the occasional high five & keep a low profile. That is my motto. Call me a p*ssy, a wimp whatever but in the end a football game win or lose is not really worth spending a night in jail for & get your head pounded in. Show the opposing team which your a guest in some respect. It works both ways too. I really never get into harrassing opposing team's fans @ the Ralph, but I don't mind when it happens. Even though we suck, if another teams fans are going to come into our house, even though we suck they should be seen & not heard. I even told my son, who loves the Falcons, when we go to the game this year he is not wearing his Matty Ice jersey. My wife thinks I am being stupid but I don't feel like getting into a fight with some alchy that decides it is a good idea to throw a beer at my 9 year old son for wearing a Falcons Jersey.

I live just outside of Philly and went to a Bills Eagles game at the Vet wearing a lot of Bills gear

Someone set off what sounded like an M80 but was prob just a firecracker in the concourse during the first half, guy behind taps me on the shoulder and says next one is for me...couldnt help but laugh. I was there with my brother who is an Eagles fan and was giving it to me just as much as everyone around us.

I went to a Yankees game at the new park wearing a Phillies hat and jersey, didnt hear anything before or during the game but a lot after Lidge blew the save. The funniest was a 10 year old kid telling me it was going to be a long train ride home.

Back in the late 90's it was the year actually the Yankees set the all time regular season win record I went with my friend for the weekend to NY to see the Yanks play the Redsox. It was maybe early June. Now I am a Mets fan so I can not stand the Yankees or the Red Sox. My friend is a die hard Yankee fan. The Saturday game we sat up in the upper decks & I did not notice any problem. Of course I was pretty loaded so I don't remember too much. The Sunday game even though the plan was to drive down to Philly & catch the Mets game my friend somehow talked me into going to the Yankees game again. I reluctantly agreed because I think the pitching matchup was enticing(I know Pedro was pitching for the Sox & I think Clemons was pitching for the yanks) + I was really hungover & did not feel like making the drive to Philly. We ended up sitting in the bleachers. It was about 95 degrees that day & man were there ever some tensions in the bleachers. This young couple were both wearing Red Sox jersey & I honestly did not think they were going to get out of their alive. There were NYPD in ailes, not security guards, but NYPD. Eventually the fans were so brutal & it was getting so violent the police escorted them out of there. I never witnessed anything like it in a sporting event before.
