  1. Yea, it is that time fo the year for all the off-season optimism to get ground to powder and made to look laughable in retrospect. It is kinda like getting a flu shot each year though, getting to the point where it has been going on for so long, I am kinda immune to it. Sad really.
  2. I don't think he is faking, in fact don't think I have even heard that, but what I have heard is that Byrd didn't hesitate to play with the same injury last year (in a contract year), and now a different story. What it boils down to is, Byrd and his agent are going to try to make it miserable for the Bills all year so they won't tag him again next year. If I were the Bills I would just approach Byrd and tell him "We ARE going to tag you next year, now you might as well sit down and work out a contract when this year is over." He is a really good safety, not great, but how important is safety compared to other defensive positions? Gonna be tough to trade him, to find a team who will give up good value to the Bills for him, then sign him to about 2-3 million more a year then the going rate for really good safeties. For having a bad attitude? Would never happen, absolutely never. A team can't just suspend someone without pay, the union would go nuts. As long as he shows up, or has a doctor say he can't show up, a suspension would and could never happen. The Bills are going to have if not "The worst" then one of the worst defensive backfields in the NFL, especially with Gilmore out, so is a disgruntled, hobbled safety really going to make a big difference anyway?
  3. When it was suggested here a week ago after he signed his tender that he may try to screw the Bills or get some type of revenge, people went bananas. Well, he hasn't even done anything now he can't play because of a foot injury? Good chance that here comes the hissy fit on Byrd's part, and if it isn't obvious he is done here after this year then nothing would make it obvious.
  4. I agree with you. Doing something charitable is a great thing, but then turning right around and putting the pics online so everyone knows you did something are kinda "Oprah Like" or desperate for attention. But with Stevie, and I like him too for the most part, he really needs to stay away from the internet, with his saggy pants pics and his disrespect for the military with his "USS FUC*MORE" shirt on. Stevie is a good receiver, nothing more until he devotes more time to working out, catching the ball and hanging on to it after he does catch it. Maybe if the did that he wouldn't be hurt or have nagging injuries all the time too.
  5. I think it will be Tuel Time for a series, maybe two, then it will be all Leinart then "What's His Name?" will play the second half.
  6. He can't be any worse then having an undrafted rookie start on opening day? Either way this team is doomed, but it is no different then the past 13 or 14 seasons.
  7. In a perfect world, McKelvin would be my choice and we wouldn't need him to play CB because he is terrible there. But since this is so far from a perfect world, at least at One BIlls Drive, I would say have Goodwin return both Kickoffs and punts if they aren't going to use him much as a receiver. It appears that Graham and Woods will be on the field most of the time with Stevie "stone hands" Johnson.
  8. Not gonna get a top CB for a top safety, just isn't gonna happen, safetys are much more easier to come by, which is one reason the Bills wouldn't pay Byrd, and another example is Aaron Williams not hacking it at CB so he moves to safety and does much better. Not gonna get much for Byrd at this point, since no team can extend him now. The Bills blew the Byrd issue big time.
  9. I think the last and maybe only other time a undrafted rookie started at QB in week one was 1976 with Jim Zorn of the Seattle Seahawks.
  10. I wouldn't even go above average. At best I would say he looked good "for a rookie." Not in the same ballpark as Revis. This is gonna be ugly.
  11. Can it get any uglier at this point? Damn, sure wish the 2014 season would get here quick.
  12. I was at the game at FEDEX and a few thing I took from the game are: 1. As a whole, the Bills effort was pathetic. 2. it seemed that even though the Skins went right down the field and scored, the Bills did with their second possession. The next Bills' series they were going in to score again when Stevie Johnson, as he often does, fumbles the ball in a crucial situation and it really seemed like from that point on the Bills were just going through the motions. They would walk slower back to the defensive huddle then someone walking to his execution would walk. I really can't even point out one player who I can say had a really good game. 3. Even despite the lackluster effort, they still had chances for big plays given to them and they failed. Brooks and Gilmore had Grossman throws hit them in the numbers and they dropped the ball. Two fumbles, one from them and one from Robey's fumbled punts had Bills players the first one on top of the ball and if both circumstances they let it be ripped away from them. 4. Tackling was horrendous. Alot of the 200+ yards rushing for the Skins were through gaping holes, but alot of it was also missed tackles, many at or behind the line of scrimmage. 5. Alot of people criticize Joe Theissman, but at least one thing he said makes alot of sense. The hurry up offense that the Bills are running is great, but you have to get first downs. When they go 3 and out over and over like they did Saturday, no defense, much less one that doesn't have a great history of being good anyway, can withstand that much time on the field. Our bad offense may be our defenses' worst enemy this year. 6. Not sure about everyone, but I am sure I am not the only person who with the little optimism from the first two preseason games, that is long gone, and it sure appears we are in for another long, playoffless season at One Bills Drive. Fred has lost at least part of a step, but there weren't may holes to run through either. The only run Spiller had of any success was outside and only because of his speed not the blocking.
  13. You are correct, as soon as Byrd signed that tender, Parker needs the Bills permission to call around. Up to that point, they could do whatever they wanted, Byrd was a free agent under no contract.
  14. Kind of a no win situation for the Bills. If his mind is made up, and it probably is, he will be gone either way. If you do trade him, and that would probably be the smartest move, you most likely will be lucky to get a 3rd round pick for him. Skill position players near an elite level have been going for that and less lately. If the Bills were going to give him what he wants, they would have given it to him already. I say trade him to the Seahawks like we seem to have been doing the past few years and watch him play in the Pro Bowl with Marshawn Lynch, but at least he would be in the NFC.
  15. As far as the other questions, like I said, I don't disagree that the BIlls are wanting to get him ready quickly, it is Byrd himself that is going to take his time. As far as the others, without spending the afternoon researching, I am not sure Vick ever played under the tag, he played under a one year deal he signed, which is way different. Also, now that Welker left New England, he hasn't had many kind words to say about Belicheat either.
  16. Toronto is a cool city, but those games will never feel like a home game, for many reasons, a few of which you mentioned. The passport requirement is a big one for sure. You can look at these games in anyway one wants to, but the Bills start the season at a disadvantage, having only 7 home games every year, compared to 8 for every other team except the couple that lose a home game to overseas each season, and they rotate. One question though, with the Bills losing this game to Toronto, are they exempted from losing another one if they get tapped to play overseas? That would really suck having just 6 home games.
  17. Who says theres ill will? Do you have electricity, a radio, a tv, internet? Really? I am sure the Bills do want him ready quickly, but he is gonna take his time. I don't believe I said he wanted to screw the team "no matter what." Those are you words, or someone else's besides mine.http://www.nfl.com/n...y-buffalo-bills
  18. So you know Byrd better then the reporters and insiders do that hang around the team? I hope there are no problems, but Byrd has it in his mind he wants to be the highest paid safety, and the Bills don't think he should be. Only time will tell, but don't be surprised. I don't believe it is the fans that are putting this out because they are angry, it is media and insiders. There are several people reporting this, even from sites like NFL.com. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000232635/article/jairus-byrd-open-to-being-traded-by-buffalo-bills
  19. After six seasons in the league, you would have to see what condition his small body is in before throwing money at Spiller. He appears to be turning the corner into being one of the best backs in the league, but with a few exceptions, running back careers aren't usually too long.
  20. Gonna just get uglier from here. The bridges are burned and they will either have to let him walk next year or tag him again and go through this again. Word is there is alot of ill will between the sides, probably mostly from Byrd's side, but those situations usually never get resolved. They say he is going to make sure he takes him time getting ready for the field, so he is going to try to screw the team anyway he can. He is a good player, but they would be better off without him if he turns into a cancer.
  21. I still don't see why this is an issue? Why because he makes alot of money? Who tips on drive thru, a tip is for the personal service you receive getting refilled drinks and your food in a timely manner when you are sitting at a table inside. If anything, the waitress should be held accountable for copying a customers receipt and sharing it on social media.
  22. Maybe if he worked out during the off season a little more often instead of doing advertisements for Saggy Pants and taking pictures disrespecting the U.S. Navy and the military with fake ribbons and USS F**KMORE patches on he might not get hurt every other time he practices or plays. He may never grow up.
  23. Maybe if he spent more time working out then he does doing advertisements for Saggy Pants.com and taking photos disrespecting the U.S. Navy with fake ribbons and USS !@#$MORE patches he might not get injured 4 times a year. He may never grow up.
  24. He said during an interview with WGR a few days ago that he was told by the coaching staff that they were going to go with the hot hand, so who knows, since they also said they think Spiller can get 2,000 yards. Fred mentioned they were working on several things with both of them on the field, which I think the more they do that, the better, more weapons for the defense to have to concentrate on the better.
