Andy Reid!!!!! Forget college coaches... if you get Andy Reid a quarterback worth a damn at least, we're good. He just didn't all of a sudden forget how to coach- the place he's in now is an absolute pit that is far worse off than Buffalo.

Flame me if you wish, but it is time to stop pussyfooting around and get a guy who has proven he can win and win and win.

With Vick and a disgusting offensive line he's been terrible, you mean. I think that is on the GM for not realizing Vick isn't a franchise QB... and what drama???? Is it any more dramatic than it has been with Gregg Williams? Mike Mularkey? Dick Jauron? Chan Gailey?!?!? NONE of those guys had a winning record with ANY QB except the Bledsoe blip year of 2004 at 9-7!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Its on the GM" eh? You do realize that Andy Reid's title is head coach and EXECUTIVE VP OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONS right? As in, he has a whole hell of a lot of a say in personnel decisions.

I never said he was... someone else mentioned Kelly and others... I'm not against giving Arians a shot, but Reid is my #1 choice.

So what? Did Bill Parcells succeed with those powers? NO. He was a great coach and won 2 Super Bowls. Andy Reid can still be a great coach and someone else can manage the show. It has been done before!

Bruce Arians .

Living here in the Indianapolis area, I've been very impressed with the job he's done in the roles of both HC and OC since Chuck Pagano's illness. He definitely has his team "playing to win", rather than "playing not to lose". Yesterday's close game with the Titans is a good example. Less than 2 minutes to play, Titans out of time-outs, Colts ball on their own 25 yard line, up by 4, 2nd and 8, and he has his rookie qb throw a 12-yard strike to his rookie TE over the middle ...(which looked to be into tight coverage!) Luck got the completion, and the Colts did the "victory formation" to win the game.

MOST coaches probably would have played it safe at that point - run as much time off the clock as possible, punt it, and hope the defense could prevent a last-second touchdown. But Arians showed confidence in his offense, and it paid off. They've won 8 out of 10 since Arians took over for Pagano, and almost every win has been close, "gutty" football, requiring key calls in key situations, good clock management at "crunch time", and a willingness to take some risks - everything the Bills currently lack.

Colts expect Pagano to be back on the sideline by the last game of the season, (and hopefully into the playoffs). I don't know that Arians would consider taking a HC job somewhere else next year if it were offered - but he's at least the TYPE of coach I'd hope the Bills would go after if they get the chance.

GO BILLS!

Thought about this last week. Did not see the play you refer to, but it sure sounds like the "anti-Chan" to me. Nice call on your part.

Reid is just as pass happy as Chan is. I don't know if Spillers touches would go up that much. Plus they would have to pay him too much to come to Buffalo.

But he would be an upgrade over Chan over Chan.

Perry Fewell

At least he had the Bills ready to play each week and he now has a Super Bowl winner to his credit!

They had a chance to keep Perry. Let let him go.

Lets face it , the Bills are not that smart.

His teams were in the top 11 in rushing yards for half his career in Philly... I don't think he's THAT pass happy :D

Reid is known, especially recently, for his abysmal game day and clock management decisions. He also has a tendency to "play the [alleged] percentages" and play not to lose--the same problems Chan has. Just ask a Philly fan. Reid would be absolutely the wrong direction for this team.

David Shaw from Stanford

This guy is supposed to be the next great coach from the college ranks. I don't know much about him but the "talking heads" on TV love him. It would be nice to see the Bills out in front on a coaching hire and grab a guy like this..... if he's even interested in the NFL.

What has Reid done that is so impressive? Without McNabb he's been terrible. I would stay away from Reid and his drama.

How many coaches are any good without a top flight QB?

Belichick was nothing as a HC until Brady landed in his lap. Shanahan was great when he had Elway not so much when he retired. He goes to Washington and wasn't winning now he has RG3 and he's starting to look a lot better. Dungy was a decent enough coach with the Bucs he goes to Indy has Manning and suddenly he's a coaching savant. I could go on and on but I think you get my point.

I realize after yesterday's disaster with Gailey this may be a little controversial but I think a franchise QB is far more important to a teams success than just about any HC you want to name.

This is part of Reid's problems...while I understand the desire for the head coach to also be the GM, it just seems that performing both duties is too much for a guy to have and win at the same time. There's too much work to do with roster management in addition to preparing the game plan each week. Parcells had this when he was with the Jets - had one good year, then bottomed out. Mike Holmgren had this in Seattle - the team underperformed after their Superbowl appearance.

I'm all for giving Arians a shot. He's basically doing the job now and (so far) doing it well, especially given Pagano's illness.

Agreed, but it will never happen. My theory is that the recruitment/hiring of Shaw is the reason the Chargers have told Norv his services will no longer be needed after this season. He would be crazy to take the Bills job over S.D., for lots of reasons. The Bills will hire a re-tread who is poorly adapted to the modern NFL--bet on it.

arians throws the ball more than gailey though. hes successful because he has andrew luck. he would drive us crazy in buffalo

In yesterday's game, the Colts' running game in the first half was awful - total of 12 yards running in the first 2 quarters. They lost 2 starters on the OL in the first half. Made adjustments at half time, came out in the 2nd half and stuck with the run, put together 2 long TD drives, churning out a total of 86 yards on the ground. He keeps running it even when it's "not working", at least to keep the defense honest ... and eventually, wear the D down.

To be honest, he will have a number of quality offers from around the league. Why would he pick Buffalo? Id'd love him here but seriously I dont see it.

The only person who would accept the Bills offer is someone who can't go anywhere else and get a HC job. I'm sticking with Tom Cable for Bills coach.

PS: What are the chances the Colts fire Paagano and keep Ariens? Its a PR nightmare but winning is the only thing.....

I'm not sure there are a lot of options to "upgrade" at Head Coach out there that would actually come to Buffalo.

If Gailey stays, he needs to allow Buddy to bring in a young potential franchise QB that has talent. Gailey seems to like the Jay Fiedlers, Neil O'Donnell's and Ryan Fitzpatrick QBs. To win, they have to get some more talent.

If Gailey goes, maybe a realistic possibility would be to allow Wannstedt to be promoted to Head Coach and bring in a guy like Norv Turner as Offensive Coordinator. Similiar offense that could take off right away and has ties to Buddy from the past.

Might not be what fans want but these options might be what they need to win next year. They are definitely better than when Buddy got here and we know that they are just a piece or two away now. They have got to bring in a QB that can win some close games, not get shown up.
