With guys coming off injuries (K.Williams, and Merriman) not good to leave yourself to thin. Plus with the way Wanny wants his 4 dlinemen to win one on one's, you need fresh guys rotating in often. Could maybe keep Johnson and cut Batten? I cut Johnson because of salary. Batten did play some OLB last year too, right? So maybe more flexible player/ST. And this is if we dont draft any DEs. However, Im not sure Merriman makes it through camp healthy. Same can be said for Troup. And I could see Kelsay being a cap casualty, but who knows, the Bills seem to love him. Batten probably doesnt make it, but he's good on Special Teams. Troup and S.Johnson will likely be the incumbents at the two backups but Heard, D.Edwards and who ever else will be given a legit shot to unseat either guy. Mario Williams, Anderson, and Kelsay will be the top 3 DE's while Carrington will be the incumbent at the 4th DE. Merriman will likely be a flex DE/OLB type player. It makes sense to keep him, but we aren't the ones coaching him and evaluating him day in day out. He should be a great 3 technique DT and if they plan on playing a hybrid 3/4 look at times, that would give them another great reason to keep him. Spencer Johnson is gone before Edwards and I think as of right now Edwards is the 3rd DT.
