The rate at which we're learning about the universe and its components I staggering.  Just this week there are new discoveries about distant dark matter, galactic cores, individual molecule types on Venus and Titan and much more.

I'll give you three guesses at something for which zero evidence has been found. Go.

Pretty sure the answer to that should be on PPP.

buried 3 feet in the ground

The authorities won't give out it's location for fear of people getting lost and needing rescue trying to find it. News team proceeds to give out it's exact location...that's some responsible reporting right there.

Stoners think UFOs and aliens are like real man.  Math is such  a buzzkill dude.  We should like just admit that like every random piece of metal is like totally from aliens.

If you'd actually read the article you'd see that it had human made rivets so this was never a thing people were just having fun with it, but you felt it necessary to show up with your "but math" BS which you've never adequately explained to make me believe you actually know what math is.

Dude.  Someone put this in the UFO thread, not the man made obelisk thread.  That wasn't me.

And there are are plenty of online courses that can help with a general understanding of math.  You might want to consider enrolling.

Sometimes I appreciate your veil of humor, but underneath it seems you're taking this too seriously.

This is a weird, random trend to start up at the end of the year...

It might just be a message related to the symbolism of the triangle: unity; perfection

If we start seeing 4-sided monoliths pop up, watch out....

Either copycats or some sort of marketing ploy.  We all know what it isn’t.

What would the aliens possibly be marketing to us? They have to know the mathematical probability of success for such a gimmick is very low...

Aliens have been marketed to us for years.  It was intriguing until the notion was disproven.  Now it is just boring most of the time.  Some of the shows and movies can still be pretty cool.

Aliens exist and Trump almost let it slip, says Israeli professor and former space official

Eshed added that President Donald Trump was aware of the extraterrestrials' existence and had been "on the verge of revealing" information but was asked not to in order to prevent "mass hysteria."

This is the most ridiculous thing I've seen on the internet today.  Keep in mind I also saw someone stating that Baker Mayfield is superior to Josh Allen.

NASA recently extended the life of two of its planetary discovery missions, including the Juno mission to Jupiter. Now it's come to light Juno has discovered an FM signal emanating from one of the gas giant's moons, Ganymede.

Thought provoking new article that touches on a number of topics discussed in this thread:

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/01/25/have-we-already-been-visited-by-aliens?utm_source=pocket-newtab

A sample excerpt with an interesting take on the Fermi paradox:

_______________________

"Thus, not long after humanity became capable of signalling to other planets, it also became capable of wiping itself out. Since the invention of nuclear weapons, we’ve continued to come up with new ways to do ourselves in; these include unchecked climate change and manufactured microbes.

'It is quite conceivable that if we are not careful, our civilization’s next few centuries will be its last,' Loeb warns. Alien civilizations 'with the technological prowess to explore the universe' are, he infers, similarly 'vulnerable to annihilation by self-inflicted wounds.' Perhaps the reason no one has shown up is that there’s no one left to make the trip."

_______________________

Maybe the natural  progression of scientific research inevitably leads to turning the knobs on the Large Hadron Collider (or some as yet unimagined scientific experiment) to 11, and instead of Spinal Tap, we get Judgment Day.

The fifth and sixth words of that article are “Canadian Astronomer”.   Why I didn’t stop right there, I’ll never know.  But the article goes on to talk about that rock from outside the solar system that passed through a while back. The rock was proven to be .......a rock.  But that wasn’t good enough for the authors.  They had to go back to before it had been explained and rehash debunked assertions.  The horrific logic in the rest of the article, like that in the quote above, ignores so much math and data.  Then again those things have to be ignored for the idea of aliens to be realistic.
