Who knows maybe a new agreement between owners and players will work out in favor of teams like the Bills in not having to pay top rookies that much. Back to the article. I'm not so sure I agree that hitting bottom is any sort of answer. In fact it felt like we hit bottom last year; ditching a starting OT and an offensive coordinator just before the season started, the number of players on IR, converting players from other positions to play LB, etc. That was a joke! Jerry is using last years team in December and he forgets about the talent that never made the field. Even if it were true (which it isn't), how would you go about executing the plan? No one involved in the organization, from ball boy to owner, could possibly function with this goal in mind. PleskowPlayer Posted September 9, 2010 Share Posted September 9, 2010 He makes good comments about the passion of fans adn i do not doubt his...i feel where Bills Fans and the rest of the world are miscommunicating is simply this--are team was not that bad last year definitly not as bad as the record shows--realistically we should ahve won game number 1 and perhaps if we had we would have gone into game 3 against the saints at 2-0 just as they were... and if no one remebers the bills played with the saints for 3 and a half quarters at 7-7 and jauron played it safe all game and we got no where and ended up getting crushed with 2 offensive drives for touchdowns...one think I feel mos toptimistic about this year is the fact that the team looks like they can put up points for once..from what I have seen are offense looks 300% better then last year for a few reasons--droping dead weight in TO and Josh Reed...the guy did not want to play here definitly not after losing that first game and he showed no passion in his route running or blocking...second our head coach is putting trust in Edwards and the offense to lead rather then the defense and although the old adage goes the best offense is a good defense the best defense is also a fresh defense provided by an offense that eats clock...which I thought we did pretty well in the preaseason definitly in the colts game...third we won 6 games last year with a college level O-line that is impressive in my book that shows the character of some of the players on both sides of the ball...All i have seen is predictions against the bills for week 1 my prediction ...Henne throws atleast 1 int and crumbles...miami runs the ball well as they do but we compete with them...the new look offense of the Bills is a surprise to Miami and they are unable to contain it...Bills win 31-24 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The team should just lose to get a top pick so we can draft a QB that has a 25% chance of becoming decent? This is a better idea than the team playing together and getting better and better as the season moves on as they get used to the new schemes, each other, and Gailey? As the OL finally gets a chance to have the same five guys in there at the same time? The players learning how to trust one another and their coach that they are on the right track? The comparison to Greggo's first year is a crappy one, too. We got rid of most of our good players before the season started. We lost our best player who was on the verge of being a superstar in the first half of the first game. We had a coach who knew nothing about being a head coach. If having your team run by a "marketing guy" instead of a "football guy" If bringing in a big "name" player because he can put butts in the seats instead of improve the team, If trading away your starting left tackle in the off season, If trying to fit the square peg of the (servicable) Right tackle into the round hole of the left tackle position and then cutting him days before the start of the season because the "experiment" didn't work, If firing your OC a week before the season, and replacing him with a guy who is an inexperianced even as a QB coach, If having a coach (who bye the way is enjoying a new contract extension)incapable of making game time adjustments Isn't hitting rock bottom I don't know what is. IMHO, somebody (Ralph???) realized we were going about this all wrong last year and decided to clean house and start anew. I don't think "hitting rock bottom" can necessarily be tied to won/loss numbers ... I think it's tied to the realization the organization is just too "honked up" to be sucessful. I remain surprised at the lack of respect for talent on this football team. The players won 6 games despite the very best Dick Jauron could throw at them in lousy coaching, game planning and coaching chaos and the epidemic of injuries. And somehow, this year, with a competent coaching staff and a smooth 2-2 preseason (that easily could have been 3-1), there's lesser expectation. I don't get it.
