The only way I see this working out in our favor is if they move to the falls and are still named the BUFFALO BILLS...any variation of Niagara Bills or anything like that would not work at all..If that is the case then it would be a great move because, yes, they are in a different country but are also only a few miles farther away than before. They can remain long term as well as help out Niagara Falls economy, because we all know that they aren't doing particularly great either. They already have the falls, casinos, clubs etc. so it could definitely work.

As long as it's Niagara Falls, NY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is Canada, no way.....but NY is more than OK with me! Means they stay!

So, if the team could move to Canada (1/4 mile away from N.Y. state), you would be against that? Especially since it is likely that the spot could be the closest place they will end up. It's a moot point, because it is a blue sky idea that Kelly and his buddies wish for, but what would be wrong with it? You could still get to the stadium in approximately the same amount of time and there is no problem going to our Canadian brothers' house. Consider this:

1. In Ontario, there are buyers who have the cash to purchase the team (and keep it close by.)

2. There would also be a lot more money available for building a modern stadium (with a dome that should have been built in Orchard Park.) Sellouts would be more likely because of it being a dome as well as being located between Buffalo and Toronto.

3. There would probably be several more corporations willing to pay for luxury boxes, making the team financially competitive with Boston, Dallas and the rest of the league.

4. Many players and staff members would still choose to live in New York state (the only way there would still be a benefit to the state economy.)

5. The area has a reputation for being a tourist destination and having a thriving economy and population. Buffalo is unfairly thought to be the opposite.

6. Ontario will support the team better than NY, who favors the Jets and Giants.

7. The NFL will be happier with the franchise, because it will add money and fans to the whole league.

8. The fans will be happier because the team will be able to acquire and keep elite players; and win more games.

players and coaches would have to pay CANADIAN income tax. If the game is played in Canada, its Canada source income.

This also applies to visiting players for their 1/16 salary.

This is why so many NBA players dont want to play for Toronto. Canadian tax is HEAVY.

(perhaps I am incorrect. Looks like Canadian tax rates are lower than USA rates. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/fq/txrts-eng.html. Then it will all depend on the strength of the Canadian dollar. Will players be paid in Canadian dollars?)

Can someone answer these questions?

REVENUE:

1) Exactly how does a Bills move to NF generate "new money" to pay for higher ticket prices and higher-cost luxury box contracts?

2) Do WNY sports fans suddenly get richer and more able to pay for higher-priced tickets as a result of this move? No. So I guess all the ADDITIONAL revenue to the Bills would come from a huge influx of NEW Canadian fans and corporations? Really? Who thinks this move would spur a wave of NEW Canadian fans/corporations big enough to turn around revenue numbers?

DEBT:

3) Who inherits the massive construction debt from the new stadium - NYS taxpayers or the franchise? Is NYS willing to absorb this debt? If it's the franchise assuming the debt, how does this new debt service improve the team's bottom line over where it is now (with ZERO stadium debt)?

It's great for Kelly to talk about a move to NF. It's a nice dream, but who's run the numbers for him, and how solid are the assumptions that underlie those numbers?

I don't know.....I just don't like the idea of them going to Canada at all. If that happens, they become a Canadian Team....no longer a Western NY team. No longer the Buffalo Bills.

I am sure I could find a way to overcome it, but it would be tough. It is all about the thought that they are OUR team....if they go to Canada, that will change. Even if they mover to Niagara Falls, NY and became the Niagara Bills, at least they are still in our backyard.....not on Canadian soil. It may not appear to be that big a deal on the surface, but it changes things dramatically. It is hard to explain....just a feeling.

Personally, I just hope for once Buffalo and NYS can get something right and keep the Bills here, in WNY. Going to be tough to get a new stadium here, but eventually, it will become a necessity. I need my BUFFALO Bills.........

I think its a long time coming that New York State actually use some of the tax money on city's like Buffalo. They keep wasting money on New York City and its surrounding areas. Buffalonian's should be outraged that a major portion of their taxes go to support the antics of NYC. They owe Buffalo a stadium.

Players are paid in American dollars, even in the NHL, NBA and MLBA.

I totally get what your sayin man, i would not want this to happen at all. I happen to live on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls and even though it would seem to be awesome to have my favorite sports team in my own city it just wouldnt be the same as it being in the B-LO. Most Canadians are terrible football fans and only care about hockey and it would ruin the franchise to have a team in Canada, especially Toronto. The Toronto-Bills games have made me wanna hurl. The place is barely 3 quarters full and its so quiet u can actually here the players talk to eachother on every play. and the traffic in TO is ridiculous. It would take about 7 hours to actually get to the game.

And since i am from Niagara Falls i can guarantee to everyone on this board that this would NEVER EVER EVER happen because Niagara Falls is so freakin poor! Seriously, i got no idea why people wanna vacation here its pathetic. Whenever i see TV commercials or brochures for Niagara Falls tourism they make it look so great when in reality it sucks. ITS FREAKIN WATER FALLING OVER A ROCK WHO GIVES A CRAP!?

Well it is just water falling over a cliff, but it's world famous. And being a place people everywhere have heard of makes it special. And while NF, NY will probably never compare to NF, ON...on NFL game days it would be the place to be. But it can't be a half-assed job. It has to be the complete package: domed stadium with hotel and entertainment complex within walking distance to the casino and Rainbow bridge.

Also being in NF, it's 30 minutes closer to Toronto so that means a lot. Canadian fans could park in Canada and cross the bridge by foot which ought to go faster if they have enough border agents on the job.

So who pays for it? It won't be NYS or Niagara County. They might chip in for some infrastructure, but most of it has to be built by the new owners of the Bills...and that means PSL's. No way around it. Hey, the NFL is a billionaire's club and if you want to stay in the club you have to have the crib.

Would a new stadium generate more income? Probably some. You'd probably get some more Toronto money but not much more than now. But a new stadium would likely ensure the Bills would stay. In fact the NFL usually throws a bone to new stadium builders by giving them a Super Bowl. Indy is getting one. NF has enough hotels and tourist stuff to pull it off. Plus you could also host big events like an NCAA Final Four. I'd like to see an annual Sabres/Leafs game.

Lastly, think about free agents visiting the Bills seeing a gorgeous domed stadium and tourist area outside. Fun stuff to do and they won't have to play in the cold. It would do wonders for the team's image. IMO putting the stadium in downtown Buffalo or in the middle of nowhere Erie or Niagara County would be a huge mistake.

A dome is still a dumb idea. Why give up something that makes visiting teams dread coming here? Do you think the Fish are going to build a stadium and over-AC it to accommodate us? If you can't stand the cold snowy games, stay home. The rest of us will keep home field advantage intact. Now, if we could just get a few good cold-weather players like we used to have.

What do you think if the Bills moved from Orchard Park to Niagara Falls?

I love Jim Kelly, but this is perhaps the most assinine thing I have heard in some time.

Last I checked, they were called the BUFFALO Bills. Not the Orchard Park Bills. Not the Niagara Falls Bills. The BUFFALO Bills. We have a horrible brown field on the waterfront, just south of the City that would THE perfect site to build a new stadium. Knock down that old plant, build a state-of-the-art stadium and plentiful parking, and Buffalo would benefit because of it. People will want to eat before and after the game, and restaurants will flourish, shops will open in the downtown area, and money will stay in Buffalo.

Let Niagara Falls get all of the Casinos they want. I say allow it to become the Las Vegas of NY. You are guaranteed people from all over the world every year just to see the Falls. The problem is, that once they get to the Falls, there is little to nothing to KEEP them on the American side. Casinos would do that. The only stipulations I would have is that the casinos have to give back to the City of Niagara Falls (help pay costs of increased police force, rescue workers, and community improvement/ development), and cannot monopolize the area as outside restaurants, shops, etc would be part of the development program. As long as they could comply with those 2 requests, I say build as many high-end casinos as you can!

But the Bills belong in Buffalo; and not anywhere else.

I like the American side idea. I wonder what amenities Jim Kelly would like to have in the owners box?

Even now the televised games have cutaway shots of the falls.

Imagine this shot.. the falls at night, then the camera pulls back and in the foreground is the new stadium (sans dome) filled with red and blue bills fans. While I'm at it the scoreboard should show the Bills up 35-10 on the patriots. Put them in throwback unis too.

I'll bet we would get some prime tv time slots. People would want to see this thing. Hell, we might even eclipse Fairy Jones and his billion dollar monstrosity.

F the cowboys, F the patriots!

That's your representatives, man.

Stop voting the same idiots to office, demand accountability, and things will change. I love how people complain about politics, etc...then when it comes to time to be heard, every baffoon and his uncle votes for the incumbent.

Get rid of 'business as usual' and demand accountability. With the exception of Brian Higgins and the lawyer actually bringing about smaller government in WNY, no one is worth a darn.
