  1. There is just no sugar coating this loss. It is squarely on the coaches. McD and Frazier have been so good the last month. But they choked and coached scared yesterday. Maybe they thought our front four could bring enough pressure. Even if they did, by the second quarter it was obvious to everyone it wasn't working. Teams have beaten the Patriots by bringing pressure. Tom and that WR group are not to be feared. What is sad, is McD preaches learning from the past and getting better. He and Frazier are not when they face the most critical moments. This is entirely correctable. Edmunds was awful yesterday. I watched him almost exclusively on defense as the game wore on. Most of the run damage was straight at him. Again the issue was recognition and angle to the ball. On the big screen play in the second half he is 8 yards down field trying to engage the linemen when he could have easily split between them and made a play on the runner. Awful instincts. Only two years and only 21 has been the excuse, but I'm starting to doubt he will ever be the star MLB he was drafted to be. And on to Daboll. He should be forced to watch the Patriots gameplan. Short passes and throwing to the running backs. Why is this such a hard concept? Or maybe he should be forced to watch SB XXV and see how Thurman almost beat Belichick single handed. Bills have Singletary (they should be using Yeldon too) and Beasley to do exaclty what Patriots did to them. Keep Hightower on the field by formation and then make him drop in coverage. I have no issue with the amount of run plays. A little more play action on first down would be nice. Josh did him no favors missing a few easy throws early but Daboll could have been better But rejoice, this is all fixable. They can get back to the fearless mode they played the last month. And a playoff win on the road is still possible.
  2. First time 3 brothers will ever play in the same game in NFL History when the Bills play the Steelers Sunday night... https://www.yahoo.com/sports/edmunds-brothers-will-make-history-when-bills-and-steelers-face-off-sunday-183710395.html?bcmt=1
  3. Brian Baldinger (@BaldyNFL) Tweeted: .@BuffaloBills @maine_savage23 @steelers @_Dbush11 are both just 21 year old QB’s of their defenses. Lead their team in tackles and the talent is off the page. What were you doing when you were 21!? #BaldysBreakdowns https://t.co/pxFcReVaGG Am I the only one who didn't know he tipped that pass as well?!? Like Baldy said, that's one of the great defensive plays I've seen all year! Edmunds has been popping off the screen lately. I think he'll be an ALL PRO by the end of next year, at 22! I've never heard his teammates or coaches not just rave about him when broughten up. He's a special, unique talent. Guys like him at mlb , surrounded by great talent is a great way to build a Championship level defense. Imagine him and Kuechley on the field?
  4. While the D as a whole played great he was lights out I thought. He was getting his nose dirty like I havent seen from him before. Coming down into the gaps and sticking guys like Ingram and Edward's is NOT easy. He also did a great job getting contain on lamar a few times. The light is really on for this guy right now.
  5. When the Bills play the Steelers, it’ll be the first time all three of the Edmunds brothers will be competing in the same NFL game. Tremaine, of course, plus Terrell (Steeler’s safety) and Trey (Steeler’s RB). Don’t know if this has ever taken place in the NFL.
  6. I've heard all the talk that our second year MLB is a physical freak with size and speed. My eyes, however, tell me he's not tough or instinctive enough to be a good MLB, let alone a great one. IMO Beane and McDermott need to take a serious look at this position in the off season and upgrade. Perhaps Edmonds is better suited for OLB? Fans can speculate but only the coaching staff can make an educated guess. So... is Tremaine Edmunds the answer at MLB?
  7. Even with the loss, I look for the positives. First and foremost is Edmunds: he was hammering runs and was solid in pass coverage.
  8. I have a feeling that with the way the Bills secondary is playing that the offense game plan for New England will target against Tremaine Edmunds. He had a very good week against the Jets stopping Bell, he did fairly well against Saquan Barkley after the first drive. While Mixon was held in held for the most part, he did break a long screen when Edmunds blew containment. One major problem with Edmunds is that he’s allowed blockers to take him out of plays. He just doesn’t shed blocks well. Based on the success NE had last year on the ground, and with Edleman hobbled by an injury, I can see BB trying to pound the ball on the defense again. But specifically I think he’ll run off the edges and try to hit some RB screens to target Edmunds’ weakness. I don’t see Brady throwing for a ton of yards on our defense but I do think the plan is to pound the defense.

  10. While it's hard to be sold on Mr Beane quite yet, one thing that you can really appreciate about him is that he understands that most football games are won from the inside out. They've invested heavily in the middle of their units on both sides of the ball and that willingness to invest both significant draft capital and financial resources into these keystones is very encouraging. Edmunds, Oliver and Morse are three of the best ballplayers on this roster and if Beane continues to focus his assets on maintaining that kind of interior infrastructure, I think it bodes very well for the Bills going forward.
  11. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/08/15/panthers-impressed-by-tremaine-edmunds-in-joint-practices/ “It was kind of neat first-hand to watch him,” Edmunds said, via WGR550.com. “We ran a screen against them. It looked like it was going to pick up some pretty good yardage, and he was able to break through and run it down and keep it about four yards. I think the young man is on his way to being one of those types of players that can be with a team for 10-12 years and be an impact guy for a long time.”
  12. I didn't see this talked about anywhere else so I figured I'd start a thread because why not? Not sure how many people caught Brian Baldinger's breakdown on Edmunds last week, but he highlighted the fact that Edmunds led the team not only in tackles, but passes defensed as well. Three of those pass defenses ended up as interceptions as two were deflected to Poyer and one to Milano. So, to me, that kinda adjusts his stat-line a little bit. He had 121 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. Add in the three deflections and he caused seven turnovers last season. Just thought that kinda stood out. We know it took him some time to settle into his new position but as the season went on you could definitely see improvement. And that's one of the things I'm most excited for this year, is seeing their top two picks from 2018 taking the next step. Towards the end of the season, they occasionally let Edmunds rush the passer from the edge. I hope they continue to do that just to throw some different things at opponents. What does everyone think Edmunds is capable of in year two?
  13. NFL 2019: Five players who are poised to make the leap and become Year 2 breakouts This isn't a surprise to Bills fans. But, it is fun to see the national media recognize it. One positive that strikes me about our defense, is how well-balanced it is in age. Youth, and the future core, is served with Edmunds, Oliver, Milano and White. Meanwhile, our veterans, still in their prime, with Hughes, Poyer and Hyde, are leading the way. We are set up for a 5-7 year run as one of the NFL's dominant defenses.
  14. When McD drafted a 6'5 250 LB rangy LBr these are the type of disrupting plays he envisioned Far from a finished product and he needs to trust his instincts but even when he diagnosis wrong he has the athleticism to make up for it It's awfully hard to throw over a long dude like Tremaine in the middle and he's great in blitz situations Super excited for year 2
  15. I routinely scour the internet for good stuff on the bills, and came across this on youtube (searched the board for it, don't think it has been posted). What really impressed me from the video was how much potential Phillips showed, considering how little attention most of us pay to his impact. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfZ15Fxfddw
  16. The only thing I'm taking out of today's presser is that Tremaine Edmunds is on equal footing with Josh Allen. Leader of the Offense and leader of the Defense both fielding questions in their second seasons. He's definitely staying in at MLB and he's going to take the LEAP!

  18. If the Bills had evaluated Mahomes and thought he could end up looking anything like the guy who has ripped apart the NFL this season, they obviously would have taken him with their first-round pick. Instead, they sent the 10th selection to the Chiefs for the 27th and 91st selections, along with Kansas City's 2018 first-round pick, which ended up as the 22nd pick. The Bills drafted star cornerback Tre'Davious White with Kansas City's 2017 first-rounder, and then used the other two picks in trades that eventually netted them Zay Jones and Tremaine Edmunds. Sean McDermott undoubtedly loves his two defensive building blocks, and the Bills believe that Josh Allen, their other first-rounder in 2018, can turn into a viable starter, but they would undoubtedly trade all three for Mahomes in a heartbeat. I don't think that I would. Thoughts? BTW the article crushes the Bills over Gilmore as well.
  19. He is a stud. Can’t wait to see him bigger, stronger, faster and understanding this Defense fully.
