Bills vs Jags Game Week Thread - MNF
Big Turk replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
That was still under Dorsey who had a pedestrian run game and relied on Allen a lot throwing. I'm not saying they won't have similar issues, but I don't think Brady gets away from it...I think he continue to utilize the ground game and try and wear them down over the course of a game and mix in some shots and play action. In today's NFL it is beyond absurd the Bills have gone almost 3 full seasons between losing by more than 6 points. -
Until midseason when teams figure him out like always and he goes back to looking meh. That's the problem with being physically limited...when teams take something away, you don't have the ability to do something else.

So is it Tua or just that defenses wear out and get tired in the heat? -

Is it true? That's exactly what Daboll did and he had an MVP worthy season in 2020. -
Yikes...that was brutal after seeing the closeup replay... main thing I see is that it looks like his plant foot is too far in front which means when his back leg follows thru, it is going to naturally turn his body to the right due to momentum. This is kinda something basic that I would not expect to see from someone professionally kicking...this is something that happened to me when I first started kicking a football for the first month or so and gradually declined once you figured out where to put your plant foot and have your targets. Almost like he is in his head and experimenting with a new stance/approach and he doesn't have it down yet. That is something that happens when you get in your own head...you start trying to make changes to what you are doing and then sometimes those changes lead to stuff like this because you don't have the years and years of muscle memory and practice with it.

Josh is a system QB...whatever system he is in will look like genius and turn that OC into a hot name for a head coaching job. -
Heard on a show where they were talking about injuries that he will be having surgery and going on IR and the minimum time is 6 weeks for the injury to heal up after surgery but expecting 8 and if there is associated ligament damage like there often is when they get in that has to be repaired, it could be even longer than that.

Yeah apparently the University of Miami game that was played there Saturday was a disaster too for that. Yes he did. Almost impossible to hit a ball that poorly unless you slip, and it had the same trajectory and direction as a slip would.
-
potentially injured himself on that slip of the plant foot on the turf? Calf strain/quad strain?

I don't think the Bills could even waive Bass if they wanted to...his cap hit would put them over the cap. Cap hit would be $7.4 million plus the cost to sign another kicker.

Our offense has been far better than KC's for much of the last 1.5 years week in and week out. -

There are no such thing as trap games. They don't exist. -

No...they beat us here in week 1 during the drought when Leftwich threw a TD in the back of the EZ to Ernest Wilford as time expired. That was in 2004, so 20 years, but then we also lost 36-26 in 2010 which was in OP as well, which means it's been 14 years. A far cry from 30. -

Eddie George, for my money, is the most overrated "great" player of all time. The man averaged 3.6 YPC for his CAREER and only averaged over 4 YPC twice for a season, both barely at 4.1...people confuse his college career with his pro career. Essentially he was a dude who put up lots of yards but only because he got a ton of carries. The only year he had under 300 carries was his final year in the league with Dallas. Holmes averaged 4.6 YPC for his career, and averaged over 5 YPC in a season twice. He also led the league in rushing one year and yards rushing/game another year, something George never did. Holmes also was a fantastic receiving back as well, having over 2,000 yards from scrimmage 3 straight years, including 2 where he led the NFL. Thurman Thomas led the NFL in yards from scrimmage 4 straight years, but he only had 2 that were over 2,000 yards. George was a first round pick, Holmes was a UDFA. Honestly they deserved to be swapped and that would have been more like the way they performed in the NFL. Holmes earned his carries and touches in the NFL, George, in large part, did not. -

I can't argue that...there are several people who got in that made me do a double take, especially since I watched some of them play and they weren't all that...and yet Sterling Sharpe still isn't in...that is a travesty. -

Thomas is a 5x All-Pro, 7x Pro-Bowler(back when it still meant something), is in the HOF and also on the HOF All-2000s Team. So to answer your question, no, they weren't. -

Zach Thomas...5th round pick, made the HOF. Priest Holmes...UDFA, was headed to the HOF until injuries derailed his career...3x All-Pro, led the NFL in rushing in 2001. -

End of the day...he isn't Josh Allen...not even close to Josh Allen on his best day...that's where they failed. They could have taken Allen at 1 and passed. -

I wasn't specifically referring to your post, just in a general sense, many people don't look at context when they talk about stats or even why things happen during games. It will likely depend on if the D re-adjusts...so many have gone smaller and faster on defense that you can just bring in an extra O-lineman and maul them on run plays and many times get big chunk plays(see Cook's 49 yard house call) -

Context matters. I know to most people that's a lot to ask, but it still matters. -

They can choose to die slowly or quickly, it's their choice. -
"You know who the beasts of the AFC East... We gonna grind this thing out for 17 weeks... You Hatin' on the Bills then you way off... Talk is cheap, meet us in the playoffs... Gameday, you know we goin' off... Got your team captain shakin' at the coin toss..."
