Perhaps they know internally they are far more than 1 WR away from being a SB contender this year? And if that's the case, then I don't really see what the point is of winning the division again and making the playoffs when you know you have no shot...get a higher draft pick and reload with higher end talent.

Typically what we have is an Allen leading us to a late score to take the lead and the D/ST giving it up problem. That's at least 5 of those games.

Worst (regular season) coached game in the entire McD era

Got to the point Allen was bailing in anticipation of getting pressure or releasing the ball early even when it didn't materialize. They got to do something to shore that up. No real excuse to be that bad in pass pro, especially since they are normally pretty good. -
Allen almost always does too and is let down by his D and special teams. How many times have they lost in instances where we needed a TD late in the 4th quarter to win the game and then the D to shut the door and we get the TD from Allen but then the D not slamming the door? I can think of 5 right off the top of my head at least and I am sure there are more. IMO, Mahomes should be thanking Chris Jones for a lot of those victories.

I can agree with that...looked like he had some easy completions short on the first throw to Hollins... Allen was seeing ghosts yesterday towards the end...he was under pressure so frequently, he was expecting it even he it didn't materialize.

Josh Allen Performance Yesterday..a Redux
Big Turk replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Where are the screens to slow down the pressure? That's how you force them to stop...invite the blitz then throw a screen right behind it for huge gains -
have you watched Mahomes over the last year and a half? He is downright bad in many games.
-
Bills O has looked bad on the road the last 2 years against them.
-
Offensively played about as bad as you'll ever see and still almost won the game against a team that is supposed to be a top-tier team but honestly doesn't really look like one. The offense needs to come up with a better plan. Not sure what it is, but whatever they have done the past 2 weeks clearly isn't working. It might be even worse next week. The Jets defense is no joke and full of studs.
-
But he is also the reason they are in a $70 million handicap with the contracts he doled out.
-
If Beane isn't willing to surround Allen with top tier talent then he needs to be fired. This is ridiculous. We watch the Bills not be able to do anything against Baltimore and then watch Cincinnati and Burrow carve them up like a Thanksgiving turkey thru the air with Chase going off on them twice for long TDs.

I agree, but there was no "right" answer that was going to get them out of that situation and end result short of getting a first down. IMO, maybe the thing that would have helped most is josh running out of the pocket and launching the ball as far and as high as he could throw it downfield which would mean that the clock doesn't stop til the ball hits the ground. The Hollins throw took about 8-10 seconds off the clock...they might have been able to get down to around 5 seconds left before punting if they did that
-
Why are you assuming they would have gained yards? They just as easily could have been stuffed or lost yards. The run game was NOT effective most of the 2nd half and that wasn't even when the Texans assumed it was coming like they would have down there. Also, if they didn't get a first down, they are handing the Texans an additional 10-15 seconds of clock time since running plays are only 2-3 seconds most of the time. The Bills weren't fighting the timeouts, they were fighting the clock. They needed to get a first down. Doesn't matter what they did, unless they got a first down the outcomes would have been the same.
-
That deep throw to Hollins literally took about 8-10 seconds off the clock on it's own by the time the ball landed, that's probably more than 2 running plays would have. IMO, Bills might have been better off letting Allen just launch the ball as far and as high as he could to try and run time off the clock...could have probably damn near ran it down under 5 seconds before they had to punt.
-
So if they run the ball 3 times and get next to nothing like they had been all 2nd half, especially with the Texans expecting runs down there, force Houston to burn their 3 timeouts AND likely give them an extra 10-15 seconds of clock time since run plays are much quicker than passing plays, how does that change the outcome? The Texans still easily could have done exactly what they did and kicked the FG. That's something that is lost on most posters. You run 3 times and don't get a first down, you are handing them an extra 10-15 seconds of time on the clock.

The game was lost when the Bills had to settle for 3 after getting the turnover at the Houston 12 yard line. People are making far too many assumptions on "what would have happened" if the Bills ran the ball. First, the Texans were mostly stuffing our run game in the 2nd half and backed up to the end zone they were likely heavily playing the run. Assuming we would have gotten 3-5 yards "easily" is simply not something you can assume. We just as easily could have gotten stuffed in the backfield and lost yards on the first play. Second, they had all their timeouts, it wouldn't have mattered if they ran 3 times, they still would have gotten the ball back because it was unlikely the Bills would have gotten a first down based on how they had been running. Third, Houston could have done exactly the same thing they did, spiked the ball and then kicked the FG. At the end of the day, the O lost this game, they were atrocious. The game was there for the taking and we played one of the worst offensive games I have seen...on par with the Jaguars game that they lost 9-6 -
This is one of those games the Bills would have won by at least 10 points the previous 4 years. Texans did everything to hand us the game and we refused to take it.

What O adjustments can the Bills make short of a trade?
Big Turk replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I believe teams are clogging up the middle of the field and taking those away and telling the Bills to beat them outside. They can't do it. That's the issue. Additionally, the O-Line has not been holding up well in pass pro the last 2 weeks, even on 4 man rushes...when you are getting pressure with 4 and dropping 7 it causes a lot of issues when you have substandard WRs that take longer to get open. -
The Hollins throw wasn't one of them...he put the ball where it was supposed to be and Hollins wasn't good enough to track it. Davis would have caught that 90/100.

These look pretty good to me... perhaps you have a short memory?

9/23/24 GAMEDAY Bills vs Jaguars MNF PREGAME THREAD
Big Turk replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
He had 4, but as the Bills only had 45 total last week and most of the second half was essentially trying to kill the clock after the Tua pick 6, I wouldn't read much into it -

Xavier Worthy: So far, not much more than a gadget guy
Big Turk replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you think Worthy can add 30 lbs of muscle to that frame and still perform at that level you don't go to the gym. Why can't he add that much weight? Because he has a slight frame, not a spark plug type frame like Hill has. -

Apparently my posts about the Mahomes/Allen comparison was too much for some hidden Chiefs fans that are on this board to bear so they got removed 😂
