Give Me Your Top Nine Players In Round 2
Maddog69 replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be happy with anyone on your list along with Lavonte David. I'm hoping we go Glenn or Martin and then look for WR next. There are a ton of good ones. But adding a LB like Upshaw or David would not be a bad idea either. -
wow. This is a complete non-issue for me. Their are numerous people in the war room manning the phones, if something came up they would certainly interrupt the interview. I'm sure Buddy had a grasp on what players were still available, what they other teams were planning and what picks were available via trade. He decided he could take a few minutes to do an interview. Who cares? Sounds to me like the Bills are moving in the right direction if this is the biggest issue to complain about.

I have no interest in players 6-10 on your list. If 1-5 are all gone, we should take Floyd or trade down

With the 10th pick in the Draft, the Buffalo Bills . . .

trade for Kalil -
I want to know what your first thoughts will be, if...

1. Gilmore: Annoyed. Overrated. Over Hyped. Not a stud. We have more important needs 2. Barron: Annoyed. No Thank You to a Safety in the top 10 especially with the guys we already have. 3. Kuechly: Happy. He can cover the TEs just as well as Barron could IMO. 4. Floyd: Surprised and happy. 5. any LT other than Kalil: Perfectly content. Huge are of need and I trust Buddy to pick the right guy. 6. a trade up for Kalil: VERY HAPPY regardless of the cost. This is the move I want most. 7. Tannehill: Excited. If Nix identifies him as worthy of this pick, I would be excited that we have a QB of the future to develop behind Fitz. -
at this point, I don't even think Buddy knows for sure. Minnesota is really the big domino in this draft. Our draft hinges on what they decide to do. They could: 1.) trade with us, we grab Kalil. 2.) Take Kalil or trade the pick to a team who takes Kalil. Then we shift our focus to another player or consider moving down. 3.) Take another player or trade to a team that takes someone other than Kalil. Then Buddy starts working the phones to continue to get a deal in place to move up for Kalil. That third pick is going to be the jump off point. I cannot wait for the draft to get started. The Bills are in such a great spot. Their roster is solid with no huge glaring holes. They have starters they are comfortable with at all positions and are simply looking to upgrade. They have lots of picks available to maneuver around the draft to secure the players they feel with give them the biggest upgrades. I think they are in good position and have so much wiggle room, they almost can't lose. If they trade up, they get a great player (Kalil). If they stay put, the get a solid player at a position or need (WR, CB, LB or S) and still have the rest of their picks. If they slide down, they get extra picks and have better odds of hitting on atleast a few of them. And it allows them to take a player they like in a better value position. Tonight is going to be fun.

Sources: Bills looking to trade up

I would be happy with Keuchly and Glenn. That would be great. I like Keuchly. That is who I want if we stay at 10. But nothing I have read about him makes me think he will be great. He seems to be the closest thing to a guarantee at being good and versatile, but Kalil has superstar talent. I would gladly give up whatever it takes to go get him. I think the Bills have set their price, they will offer 10 and 41 to whomever will take it. So if Kalil slides past Minnesota, then Buddy will be calling Cleveland, TB, St Louis and Jax. -

they are not a quick passing offense by choice. They are doing it because their line (especially LT) was not good at pass blocking. Maybe if we had a legit NFL LT, we could stretch the field and not have to keep backs and TE's in to help block. We have 4 decent CBs on the roster, we have 1 LT -

sure. because a mediocre LB and a less than mediocre WR will help us so much more than a stud LT. -

I would need a new TV if we traded up to 3 and then did not take Kalil. I honestly think my head would explode. I am getting mad just thinking about it. Our line would be pretty damn impressive if we had Kalil at LT along with Levitre, Wood, Urbik and Pears. Fitzy would go to sleep tomorrow with a smile from ear to ear. -

this is exactly what the bills should do. Look for elite talent and go get it. We don't need two mediocre prospects. We need a LT. Kalil is the best and only true LT prospect. Make it happen. I would take Kalil over any two prospects we could get with 10 and 41. The problem is that we will probably have to give up more than just our 1 and 2. I would offer our 1 and 3 along with a 2 and 4 next year. This is the kind of move that could throw an already excited fanbase into an absolute ticket buying frenzy. -

I haven't seen it. My friend always tells me I should watch it because I would love it. I'm going to have to check it out.

Isn't it the network's job to try to get the scoop before it happens? Why not just have the draft behind closed doors and then just have an Academy Awards type show to reveal them? This is just a silly thing. It is such a non-issue. It is fun flipping back and forth watching the two stations try to out-do each other. If they are going to do it this way, there is absolutely no point in having the guys in the green room with all the cameras. This is just another example of the NFL trying to micromanage everything.

IIRC, the Bills liked Poz and tried to keep him. He chose to leave and BTW was paid handsomely by another NFL team that thought he was good. It would not be at all surprising if they also like Keuchly if he does indeed compare favorably to Poz.

Let's be honest here. Your measurables are a joke. You lack any skill whatsoever and your 'red flags' are a major concern. Most teams will eliminate you from their draft boards right away. But I like you attitude. If I win the lottery (multiple times) and purchase of professional sports team, I will sign you. Not as a player, but as a human tackling dummy. It would be worth the money to watch you running for your life out there, screaming like a little girl and then ending up curled up like an armadillo. BTW - Thanks for the thread. It is a nice distraction from the rest of the regurgitated draft talk. -
if we hadnt already signed Mario Williams and Mark Anderson, I would be onboard with this. Giving up a third seems fair. and getting him signed to a decent contract would have filled a big need for us. But now it just doesn't make sense.

the cliches are great. The decriptors from some of the scouts (plays like his hair is on fire, etc) are also entertaining. And don;t forget the concealed racism: High motor (=white guy). Athletic QB (=black guy)

I don't think it will be a surprise pick. The FO has a list of their top 10 players ranked in order. Whichever one of those 10 is still available, he will be the pick. The big question is exactly who is in their top 10. That might be the surprise part. They may have the DBs, OLs or WRs ranked in different order than some others. We will see tomorrow. I cannot wait. I trust Buddy and I expect that we will get a good player regardless of position. I personally would be disappointed with Barron, but I understand that he could very well be the next Ronnie Lott and that would be great. But I think we should be looking for a OT, WR or LB and not a S at #10.
-
Thanks for the insisght, John. As always, you rock. I would prefer a WR or OT but it sure looks like they are heading in the direction you are suggesting. I'd be OK with Gilmore but I would not be happy with Barron. I just don't see safety is a position worthy of a top 10 pick especially with the depth at the position on our roster.
