  1. I would not mind seeing Smith AND a Draft pick in 2013...Thing is, if I could be convinced The Bills Defense would be MUCH improved next year, I'd be more excited about grabbing a QB like Smith for a year or two... But I'd rather see The Bills simply Draft a QB in 2013 and play him from day #1...I understand the growing pains part...But at this point that does not phase me much..I still think The Bills have plenty of talent on the Offensive side with Spiller, Freddie, CJ, TJ in his 2nd year...Nelson coming back, a solid O-Line, etc...I think the right Rookie could come in and do OK...We'll see...
  2. I don't think he needs to throw Fitz under the bus either...What he should do is be honest about the effect the QB position has on NFL Offenses, and basically say this Season is not over...When it is, they will look at the QB position, just like they will look at all positions...And if they decide an improvement is necessary at QB, or anywhere else, they will be aggressive in pursuing all options for the immediate and distant future...That's all he has to say...IMHO of course...
  3. Seriously? No...really...You're not serious...Right?... You may not be alone, but you don't have much company either... Just giving you a hard time...
  4. I hear what you're saying...I don't really agree...But I understand... Seeing as though we're really only talking about The Bills...IMHO Nix falls short no matter how you decide to evaluate the guy...The hindsight deal may very well be best judged as a combination of who they picked, and who they passed on...Again Nix falls terribly short under that microscope...It simply does not matter much how you look at it, you're not going to find a single NFL GM who would prefer to have Aaron Williams instead of Dalton or Kaepernick...Sure it's 20/20 hindsight...But it's not just who Nix passed, it's who he picked... To me at least, the lack of laser focus on improving the QB position is the biggest black mark on Nix record...Dalton, Kaepernick, and every other QB the Bills may have grabbed, could have become complete bombs in Buffalo...That's always a possibility...And sure IF that happened many fans would be well up in arms...But at the very least Nix could say, (in a politically correct way... ) right now, that the problems with Fitz were properly identified, and they used a premium pick at an attempt to find his replacement...He could at least say they tried... It's not just about the decision to go with Fitz...That's bad enough...But to expect that this Franchise can get by only bringing in Thigpen, Levi Brown, Tarvaris Jackson, and Vince Young to compete for the Starting job with Fitz??? Drafting basically NOTHING at QB over 3 entire Drafts knowing Ryan Fitzpatrick is your QB??? It's just unacceptable...It's unacceptable under any type of evaluation process IMHO...It's just a bad job by a 1st time GM who GREATLY underestimated the importance of the QB position, and greatly overestimated the abilities of the QB's he had on the Roster... Anyway...Sigh...
  5. Who's giving him a bust? The only question here is, right now, would you rather have Kaepernick or Fitz? Compared to what we have, the dream of a kid like Kaepernick would understandably take most Bills fans into fantasy land...He's a wet dream compared to what we see on most Sundays... I'm pretty sure any Bills Fan would take their chances with Kaepernick, noob or not, over our current situation...I don't think Kaepernick has proven much...But he's got a massive upside compared to Fitz...At this point any Bills Fan who would not LOVE to have, at minimum, the hope that Kaepernick brings...Well...You would have to be a massive glutton for punishment...
  6. I agree...That's why it really shocks me how infatuated with Fitz Gailey seems to be...You have to know every time Fitz misses one of these open deep passes it takes more than a few minutes off Chan's life...It has to kill the guy when he sees his Offense get EXACTLY what they want, his QB properly read the play then throw to the correct receiver, only to have the pass go woefully off-target...Those plays are Coach killers in more way than one...
  7. A-freaking-men...Agree 100%...
  8. Based on what I heard just now on the drive home WGR...I would say that no one in the Bills Organization would confuse the current WGR discussion with any "company line." In fact I enjoyed the topic and the opinions...And I pretty much agreed with everything they said...I'm pretty sure Buddy Nix would not agree though...Pretty sure...
  9. Great, great post!!! An All-timer!!! Congrats!!!
  10. Except in the 49ers case both QB are good, not the other way around... I thought it was a mistake at first...But now I'm not sure...Kaepernick's ceiling is a mile high...We'll see... We'll see...This Pats Defense can look REAL bad at times (they're 27th in the league...The Bills are 26th so...)...It could go either way...
  11. 100% agree Joe...But at this point it's like salt on an open wound...The thought that we could have had Kaepernick, or Dalton, and all we would have to give up is Aaron Williams...That thought alone is enough to send a few Bills fans to one of those padded rooms...Or the nearest bridge... Let alone Nix made that Pick KNOWING that Ryan Fitzpatrick was our Starting QB, and Tyler Thigpen was our Back-Up...He did know that...Right?...
  12. So exactly how do you judge a GM on whether or not he's done a good job? I'm guessing looking back at past Drafts and UFA moves is the way 99.9% of NFL Owners do it...Hindsight is 20/20...So what? It's Nix's job to have FORESIGHT...This way he does not have to get clobbered by hindsight and fired by Ralph...It's his job...We all get judged in hindsight on our decisions at work ..If I make a stupid decision...(which never happens btw... )...The Owner of My Company is going to want to know why I decided that way...And guess what he's going to say if I tell him..."Well Boss...Hindsight is 20/20..." And no question I was OK with the Dareus pick...Thrilled as a matter of fact...But that kind of makes my point...I'm not an NFL GM...And if I could not see that AJ Green, Patrick Peterson, Julio Jones, JJ Watt, and Aldon Smith were going to be better Pro's than Dareus that's OK...I'm not getting paid millions of dollars to make those decisions...Nix is...And he blew the Williams Pick WAY worse than the Dareus Pick because even most casual fans KNEW that Fitz was not a Franchise QB...And when you don't have a Franchise QB it damn well better be your 1st priority in the Draft to get one... And as for Andy Dalton...I game with a guy from Dallas that told me Dalton was going to be real good NFL QB when the Kid was a Jr...Believe me he reminds me of it on a weekly basis...So plenty of Folks knew...Just not Nix...Why? And even more importantly how in God's name could Nix and his Scouts think aaron Williams would be a better choice there for the future of this Franchise than Dalton or Kaepernick? Hindsight is s B word is it not?
  13. Like I said in another thread, I'm pretty sure it was Sal Capaccio a couple days ago who reported that Glennon is the one to keep an eye on...He said The Bills like him a lot and are Scouting him big-time...He seemed to have some inside info on it...I was pretty surprised when I heard it...
  14. Believe me I know...I've been saying the same for a couple Months now... I'd still love to have the Kid though...A man can dream right?...
  15. Well...Not to nitpick your post...But that statement makes it tough... Smith is a decent athlete, but he's a QB 1st and foremost...QB's who complete 70% of their passes in their final College Season usually do pretty well in the NFL...Smith is at 70.2% so far this year...His worst completion % was in 2010 when he completed 64.8% of his passes...He's thrown 93 TD Passes to only 20 INT's in his WV Career...That is pretty amazing...The Kid can sling it...I'd LOVE to have him in Buffalo...
  16. Agreed...And it's just my opinion...But I think Te'o is much closer to Rey Maualuga than he is Willis...I'm certain Te'o is a bit faster than Maualuga, and not nearly as fast and quick as Willis...Maualuga was a heck of a good College player...REAL good...And he was a 2nd Round Pick...He's been a solid, if not spectacular Pro...He leads the Bengals in Tackles this year...He's good...But he's not Willis...And I don't think Te'o is anywhere close to Willis either...That's why, at this point, I'm not crazy about spending a Top 10 Pick on Te'o...There is an absolute TON of hype attached to that Kid right now...I'd like to wait and let the process play out before I decide he's truly an elite prospect...A sub 4.6 40 time would go a LONG way in selling me on Te'o...We'll see...
  17. Seriously? Do you live in some sort of alternate universe where over-generalization, over-exaggeration, and the lack of ability to discern between fanaticism and good discussion are acceptable norms? If so, I'm beginning to understand your recent Posts a lot more...
  18. Fitz...For me at least, it's not even close... I'd rather see the whole lot go...And take Nix with them...
  19. No offense...But threads like this may very well be the biggest waste of space we endure around here... First off McShay? Really? McShay? Next...At this point in their final year of College did anyone see Brady, Brees, Rogers, etc being elite NFL QB prospects? It's still WAY early in the process...We don't even know who is coming out for certain...There will be a couple good QB Prospects in this Draft...You can pretty much count on it...
  20. Apparently...Though I do admit it's the time of year around here where nerves get pretty frazzled...Happens every year...I'm no exception...
  21. Right..The Buffalo Bills, who have not made the Playoffs in well over a decade now, have all kinds of bandwagon jumping Fans... Sure they do...
