Fitz was outstanding.. for all you haters

Well...That's probably because QB's like Brees regularly follow up poor performances with REAL good ones, then another good one, and so on...Brady has bad Games...Rodgers too...But you know damn well they are going to even those out and then some...Fitz? Not so much... I swear I don't want to be a dick about this whole Fitz thing with other Bills Fans...But if you can sit and watch Fitzpatrick over these three years and come away thinking he's good enough...Well...I don't know what to say to you...You're watching a different game than I am...And that's not to say that Fitz can't do some things well, and have a great game every now and again...It is saying that over an extended period you get what you get with Fitz...And it's never, ever going to be good enough...

Yawn..Yawn...Yawn...Yawn...Yawn... -
Well...The record and performance makes it pretty hard to say "no doubt..." Even though I tend to agree...In a way at least... But your point about the QB is dead on...Fitz does not elevate anyone...He gives this Team no hope...It does show up in the performance...It may not be fair to QB's, but they do inspire...The good ones do at least...And Fitz is just not good enough to do that...

I think, for some reason, because Fitz takes off and runs a few times for nice gains when the coverage has it's back turned, certain folks believe he's actually a decent scrambler...He's not...He's a bit clumsy when scrambling, almost always drops his head instead of keeping his eyes down-field, and he can't extend a play in the pocket to save his life...This is all a HUGE part of being a good NFL QB...Watch a guy like Flacco who is long, lanky, and not that fast...But he can move in the pocket and extend plays while he's looking down-field...Same with Josh Freeman...And I point out those two because they are big, slower guys...But Fitz can't do what they can...He ducks and tries to run...Usually between the tackles...If there is any pressure Fitz is pretty much done...That is a massive problem if you want to be a good NFL QB...Just a massive problem...

Theory why we did not draft a QB....

Unfortunately, I think this is the correct answer... This is another valid reason... -
The Marshawn Lynch trade; three years later
KOKBILLS replied to peterpan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, it sounds like that is your opinion...And admittedly the opinion of others around here...And sure Spiller should get the ball more...I don't want this to sound like I'm bashing Spiller either...Because I'm not...He's a great player and now, he's ours...I love watching him on Sunday... But that's not what my post was about...Spiller is unquestionably amazing at times no matter how much he touches the ball...Still, it's my opinion that The Bills should have gone elsewhere and kept Lynch and Freddie...I said it that Draft day, and I'm not going to waver on that opinion...It's about building a team, not grabbing a player at a position of great depth and saying..."Oh! Look!!! Shiny TD machine!!!" And furthermore, if your HC is unwilling, or unable to get the kid the ball more, then the pick is even dumber...It was, in retrospect, a predictable pick by a GM who has proven he's in a bit over his head... The Bills O-Line has improved quite a bit since Lynch was here... -

Bryant has his issues...But he's also a beast of a WR when he's on his game...I think it may have been better for Bryant to get out of Texas anyway...Maybe it would help his concentration off the field... -
The Marshawn Lynch trade; three years later
KOKBILLS replied to peterpan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Spiller's electric ability as much as anyone...I loved the kid in College...But I never expected The Bills to take him because of Lynch and Jackson...And I still think it was the wrong move for this Franchise... I know how some of you hate the hindsight thing...But there was no shortage of talent in that 2010 1st Round...Imagine what keeping Lynch, and adding Dez Bryant, JPP, or Demaryius Thomas, would have done for this Roster...Anthony Davis is a super solid OT...You have to build a Roster in the NFL...And Nix showed from his initial 1st Round Pick he does not have a great grasp on that idea...CJ is pretty much exactly the home run hitter Nix told us he would be...He's electrifying...But The Bills still suck WAY too much on Offense...Nix ignored the QB position in the Draft...Broken record time, but understanding how you build a winning Franchise MUST include a heck of a good plan at QB...And yet again, they lose more than they win... And here we go again, Nix will be grasping for that winning formula yet another year...Oh boy! -
Well..I used to think that was going to happen in our lifetime Bro... Now I'm not so sure...I'm getting freaking old...

Jaguars’ Jason Babin fined $21,000 for hit on Fitz
KOKBILLS replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly! IMHO that was WAY worse than the hit on Fitz...He should have been tossed for that hit on Freddie...The intent was SO obvious on that one... -
Who are the active "elite" QB's?
KOKBILLS replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed... -
Trade for Phillip Rivers?
KOKBILLS replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've always liked Rivers a lot...But my reservations come from wondering if he's now on the permanent decline path...He seems to have peaked in those 3 years (08-10) and now he's on a steady, albeit only 2 year, decline... Bledsoe 2.0? -
There were plenty of people high on Dalton and Kaepernick...Those 2 QB's were all over NFL Network for months leading up to the Draft...I know Charles Davis was REAL high on Kaepernick...I remember him saying he felt Kaepernick would be the best QB in that Draft a few years down the road...I have a good friend that lives in Texas, loves the Longhorns, and liked Aaron Williams a lot...But he told me on Draft day, and every day since then (he's a jackass... ), how we were going to regret not taking Dalton...My friend was raving about Dalton when he was a Jr...And he's definitely no NFL Scout... I don't think it's hindsight whatsoever on those two...Both were very highly regarded by some...But not highly regarded enough by The Bills and Nix...And it does not help that the guy The Bills took instead can't cover to save his life...That was a HUGE miss by Buddy and his boys...Just huge...And a big reason why I'm not much of a Nix fan...

Some would gladly trade Fitz for Palmer
KOKBILLS replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No offense but if you followed that Draft you would know the Raiders were the only Team in the NFL that was going to take Heyward-Bey in the Top 10...They took some serious flack for that Pick...Still do...But maybe that was sarcasm... To the OP's question...I would take Palmer with The Bills supporting cast over Fitz any day...He would do much better in Buffalo purely because of the talent at RB/O-Line, and Gailey...I still don't think he would be elite...But I do think he would be better than Fitz for sure... -
Very good point...But on whole I would still go with that 74 Steelers Draft...4 Hall Of Famers from one Draft is insane...

What College QB's are the Bills Currently Scouting?
KOKBILLS replied to Storm Front's topic in College Football
I heard that as well... And I found this article by Bucky Brooks... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000087375/article/nc-state-quarterback-mike-glennon-set-to-climb-draft-boards -
Fitz's stats have not been terrible dating back to the beginning of last season...He's a streaky player who can have great moments, and terrible moments, sometimes in the same half...He's currently 18th in the NFL in traditional QB Rating, and 25th in the newer Total QB Rating...You numb-skulls can come up with any way you want to defend Fitz...He's not good enough...It simply does not hold up most Sunday's... So I'll say this again...And I know some folks around here disagree...But if you can't tell by watching him that Fitz is not good enough, maybe commenting or evaluating NFL QB's is just not your thing... It's OK...Nobody is good at everything...
-
I completely agree with this...While I think Gailey gets a bit too pass happy, and can be his own worse enemy as a play-caller, I do believe he has got more out of Fitz than most Offensive Coaches could...I do believe that...I would personally get rid of Fitz and Nix before Gailey, because I think Gailey is a good Offensive Coordinator....He's just not a great HC...Though I have to admit I would not shed a tear if all 3 were gone...

I truly feel horrible for Ryan Fitzpatrick.
KOKBILLS replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So?...Fitz wouldn't?... The point is still the same...Smith>Fitz...Are you unfamiliar with Kaepernick? Or...are you just trolling?
