  1. I hear you...The point with Barr and Jordan was just comparing the talent from last year to this year...I think they are comparable players...I like Jordan more no question...But I still think they are comparable, and I think Barr is the better pure pass rusher of the two (and I'm not a big Barr fan) with Jordan being the more complete player...Compare their last 2 years in College and Barr had 11 more sacks than Jordan...So anyway...IMHO Jordan is still a borderline top 10 pick if he's in this Draft...In last years Draft I think he was absolutely worthy of #3 overall...Thus the difference in talent and why it will likely take a lot more to move up... And yes the Bills are not trading up for a QB...But in this completely hypothetical situation they would be trading up for a player considered to be a once-in-a-decade-type...So it still gets back to how much competition there is for the pick...I doubt very much the Bills are the only team interested in trading up for Clowney...There is just as much buzz about Atlanta wanting to get up for him, maybe more buzz...But the Falcons pick 6th...So if the Bills are in competition with the Falcons they have to give up more...If anyone above the Falcons wants to take a stab at #1 overall the price goes up...And so on...That's how this can get out of hand and too rich for the Bills quickly... Last year Oakland was hellbent on getting out of #3...Because the demand obviously was not much...or just because they are the Raiders...they took what they could get...If the same thing happens this year with the Texans, and the Bills are bidding against themselves, then sure...I could see it being less than 2-1st's, a 2nd, and something else...But I doubt that's the case this year...Maybe I'm wrong...If the only thing the Bills have to give up is a 2nd round pick to get to #1 then I'm all ears...Though I personally would take Robinson over Clowney...But that's a whole different discussion...
  2. It all depends on what else they are being offered by all teams to trade down, how much they prefer a QB in the 1st, and how willing they are to gamble that they will get their choice of the QB they want...
  3. I'm not saying you are right or wrong my friend...But I have a feeling he's the guy they want if Evans is not there...I think they would rather trade down a little and still get Ebron...But I just have a feeling he's the guy they covet most assuming Evans goes to Tampa...I had this feeling about Manuel last year too...It's just my gut and God knows I've been wrong before...But I think reading between the lines Whaley loves Ebron and the envisioned help he brings to EJ...I also think if the 3 OT's go in the top 8 it will make the decision to go with Ebron much easier on them... Like I said it's just a gut thing...But that's the feeling I'm getting...
  4. I don't know...I don't think that point is all that valid... The talent pool at the top last year is no where near the one for this year...That's why the Fish were able to move that far up for only a 2nd round pick...Dion Jordan compared to Robinson, Watkins, Clowney, Matthews, Evans, and Mack? There's not much comparison there...And I like Dion Jordan...But the best comparison to Dion Jordan in this Draft is Barr...And he's probably not going in the top 10...Maybe not in the top 15...Also, what the Redskins gave up had little to no bearing on what the Fish had to give up the following year contrary to what this author claims...The Skins were moving up for an unquestioned Franchise QB prospect...A QB who was considered at the time to be one of the best prospect QB's in a decade...You're always going to have to give up more to move up for a Franchise QB because in all likelihood there is going to be competition for that pick...Everyone knows that...I doubt there was too much competition for #2 overall last year considering the prospects...So...
  5. Completely agree with this take... I have not been too thrilled with many of Casserly's comments this off season pertaining to the Bills QB situation...But one of his rants recently caught my attention...He was basically going off about the perceived movement of prospects due to pre-Draft workouts and he completely destroyed the notion that it happens often...He said scouts always have, and always will, give their final grades based mainly off the game tape...He said workouts are mainly to separate two prospects who are bunched together at the same position with basically the same grade...He was very fired up while making this point...He was adamant about it, and I do believe he's correct on that much...
  6. I love it...I'm always in favor of more Playoff football...But admittedly that's just me...
  7. Well...I think the Bills would love to get Clowney...No doubt about it...That puts them in agreement with probably about 30 other NFL teams (I'm guessing there is at least one team that does not want him... )...I don't think whatsoever that they would love what it would take to go up and get him though...There is a huge difference in the two things, and it is considerable...Something that has been pretty much ignored by the "ga-ga for a trade up" bunch...Even though Whaley was crystal clear about it...It's going to be a King's ransom...then some... This situation has to be looked at logically and that's why at the end of the day it's a super long-shot...The one way I can see it happening is if the Texans really only want a QB with their 1st pick and internally are 100% in agreement that they would be happy with Manziel, Bortles, Bridgewater, or Carr at #9...Remember the Texans don't want a WR...So that takes Watkins and Evans out of the mix for them in a trade down...Then...what happens in their doomsday scenario if 3 QB's, Clowney, Robinson, Matthews, Mack, and Lewan go top 8? Suddenly the Texans are left with the 4th QB or...who? Barr? One of the WR's that they don't want? This is why I think #9 is just too far for the Texans to chance a trade down...Granted it's a worst case scenario and very unlikely...But stranger things have happened and you have to plan for all potential possibilities...And they could potentially eliminate themselves from the QB they like or any of the elite prospects in this Draft by trading down 8 spots...It's just seemingly too far for the Texans to drop... I think if you hooked Whaley up to a lie-detector his best-case scenario would be to trade down, get an extra 2nd, and still end up with Ebron in the 1st...I really think that's who the Bills want...But I think like last year with Manual they're very unsure about taking him in the top 10... And I should say that's who the Bills want assuming Evans is already gone...I think they want Evans most of all...
  8. Totally familiar with MIL...A lot of nice Subdivisions out that way...What is that huge Custom Home subdivision on the left side of the road going northwest? I can't remember the name...It's kind of set off 16 on the left...Real nice houses in there... Did they not just level Eastland Mall?...I thought I saw a picture of that recently?
  9. Just a couple years...I'm in home improvement estimating so I've seen every square inch of that City 3 times over...Some areas have really gone down hill over the past 25 years...Good grief...I lived mainly in Steele Creek and Pineville...I try to stay south...I loved Steele Creek though...My last office was in Ft Mill right over the border where 51 meets Carowinds Blvd...Really liked it there...
  10. Cool... I lived in Charlotte for 20 years...Moving back in January...My best friend lives 2 mins from that DSG...I might pop in when I'm down there in June...
  11. I do agree that Donald is a perfect fit for Lovie's D...There has been a lot of talk about Tampa wanting to trade out of #7...I would imagine if they do so Donald will one of their possible targets...I can't see them taking him at #7 though...But I could be wrong...
  12. I think you make some good points based on who the Bills have brought in... I do think there are a few names the Bills would be willing to just stay put and Draft at #9...I think those names are Clowney, Robinson, Watkins, Matthews, Mack, Lewan, and Evans...The questions come in if all of those names are gone, or maybe if the only name remaining is Lewan...I think it's at that time they field calls and see what they can get...I think the player the Bills would prefer to have in a trade down situation is Ebron...I think if all the other names are gone, and they can't get a trade down they like, they'll take Ebron at #9...The question is how far would they be willing to go down?...And I think based on the names they have brought in the Bills may be willing to trade down a bit...If they trade out of Ebron range my guess is the targets will be Martin, Donald, Moses, Kouandjio, or one of the CB's...
  13. Makes sense...Because teams never Draft and develop mid round prospects...
  14. Great thread idea Kirby!!! I was 5 years old at my Grandfathers house in Van Nuys Cali...It was 1970...My favorite animal was always the Buffalo as a little kid...A game was on the TV and I saw the helmet...I said "Daddy...I like that team..." I did not really understand at the time that meant something to my father who, along with my mother and both sides of my family, grew up in Rochester...My fathers reaction?..."Oh Jesus...just great..." I asked for and received a Buffalo Bills uniform for Christmas that year...I still have the helmet...It's beat up pretty bad...But it's one of my most prized possessions...Die hard...43 years and counting...Dad still does not understand or approve...
  15. Whaley did say that...But in the clip I watched it was in reference to OT's and the need to have strong bookends to block a Seattle type of Defense...
  16. I don't think there is any way Jerry passes on Manziel if he falls...I would be shocked if the Cowboys passed on him...I doubt he'll get that far...but you never know...
  17. I hear ya...And I understand Chandler is not the most talented guy...But I think he is more talented than Moeaki or Lee Smith (though I know Smith is more of a blocker)...I just think if you're trying to build a Championship roster you can do worse than having Scott Chandler around...That's all...
  18. And that's Chandler's fault? I'm not following that logic? So...Because Mario led the team in sacks, and we sucked while going 6-10, we should cut him if we Draft Clowney?
  19. I would be shocked... He led the Bills in receiving last year...He's not expensive...He's a vet...He's 6-7...I just don't see it...I think Moeaki would be in big trouble if we Drafted Ebron though...
  20. My Board for The Bills: 1. Robinson 2. Evans 3. Matthews 4. Watkins 5. Ebron 6. Clowney 7. Mack 8. Lewan - I'm not crazy about the character stuff but I recognize he would be a nice addition to the line... BIG DROPOFF 9. Aaron Donald 10. Zach Martin Bills Board (guess) : 1. Clowney 2. Robinson 3. Mack 4. Evans 5. Watkins 6. Matthews 7. Lewan 8. Ebron 9. Mosley 10. Martin
  21. #1 - Another match-up-type Receiver - I feel Evans and Ebron fit this need perfectly, though admittedly they are different talents...I do prefer Evans to Ebron... #2 - Right Tackle - An upgrade to Pears would certainly improve the Offense overall... #3 - Defensive End - The Bills need better quality depth... #4 - Safety/Big CB - They could use another mid rounder to develop in the secondary... #5 - ILB - Spikes is only signed for one year, and there's not much behind him right now...
  22. So Whaley gives a completely general stock quote that every GM gives when interviewed and that's vindication for Prisco?...Whatever... OK...Pete...You were right...Whaley did not guarantee 100% that there was no way the Bills would trade up in the Draft...Goodness...
  23. Clear they did not like him? I don't know about that...Granted Buddy did not rain praise on EJ...But in hindsight I think the way the question was phrased Buddy probably wanted to throw a bit of water on that fire...That's all... Q: Can you explain the perceived meteoric rise of Florida St. QB E.J. Manuel? Is it something induced by the darling of the NFL now, the zone read? Is that something that is kind of driving him up a little bit? Buddy Nix: I really do not pay much attention to that stuff so I did not know he was making a move with the media. I would say that is probably some of it, yeah. The fact that he can run the football. I think in this league it is kind of a fad deal. Not saying that is a fad, but I am saying the league does things like that. It always comes back to you. You have to be able to throw the football in this league to win and to score. If you have a guy that can run it, he better first of all be able to make NFL throws. Q: Can Manuel make the NFL throws? Buddy Nix: I have not seen him make NFL throws. I have seen him make them at Florida St. He made throws and he was maybe a little inconsistent with it. He has plenty of arm and great athletic ability. It is just a matter of whether or not you can get him consistent in that part of it.
  24. Depends...What's the kitchen like?...
