Whole different world being a head coach. Lions have a lot of good players on offense. Why isn't Dan Campbell getting the same props? He is the head coach and has them playing real solid football. But they looked lousy against the Packers on Thanksgiving. And their offense was dreadful in Chicago in the second half. Everyone always thinks some young young guy calling plays on the sidelines is going to be the next NFL guru. How did that work out for Brandon Staley? Where are the good ex NFL players when it comes to coaching? I love the Dan Campbell tough guy schtick. Where are all the Ray Lewis types? How come they aren't coaching? All the black guys are good enough to play and bust their bodies for years in the NFL. But most never get a shot at coaching. Good to see Al Harris coaching the DB's for the Cowboys. Not trying to turn this into a discussion about race or prejudices in the NFL. Just an observation of watching years of football.

A Few Thoughts about the Cowboys Game, in no particular order
Paup 1995MVP replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Milano is our toughest player on defense period. He has lit up many players. Ask Mike White about that from last year. People sometimes forget that football was built on intimidation violence and brutality. That is how the game was played by pretty much every team (the Raiders played it a little better then the rest many years ago) for decades upon decades. (watch on YouTube the story of the 1970 or 1971 season. The hitting and pummeling QB's was absolutely ridiculous.) Most of that has been taken out of the game since Roger Goddell took over as Czar of the league. But you need guys who play like Poyer Rapp and Dodson. It sends a message. -
Steelers Damontae Kazee Suspended Rest of Season
Paup 1995MVP replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
He barely skimmed his helmet. That was a weak call. Good for Rapp. Prescott is a *****, who is soft as Peanut Butter. We have been soft for far too long on defense. We sent a big message to the Cowboys, And to the rest of the NFL yesterday. This is our house. And we are going to beat you down when we play you. Better buckle your chin strap because you are in for a long day. Did you see the look on their eyes by the second half? The Cowboys wanted nothing to do w us. Having a mean bad ass team in 2023 NFL football is a beautiful thing. Embrace it. -

You really think Minshew is thinking all that as fast as everything is happening out there?? Thats on the DB. If you want, blame whichever coach diagrammed the play. Minshew is just trying to make a play to help his team win. -
Bills Hire DJ Mangas as Offensive Assistant
Paup 1995MVP replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Your points are valid. But speaking of points look at how many the Cowboys are averaging at home versus the road. The Cowboys always get a lot of hype. They looked good against Philly on Sunday nite. They just don't strike me as a lights out type of team. McCarthy is one guy who will not outcoach McDermott. This game just does not set up well for them. Coming off two big home games in primetime, and now going on the road to Buffalo in December for a 4:25 start. I don't see them bringing their best. We will be fired up w a rauckus crowd. There is a reason that we are 2 1/2 point favorites. -
Bills Hire DJ Mangas as Offensive Assistant

You are seriously going back 10 years for a comparison. The Seattle defense that year was lights out regardless who was coaching them. And to be quite honest Dan Quinn's defense with the Falcons allowed the Pats to come back from a 28-3 deficit to win the Super Bowl after the 2016 season. I would not be too scared of the Cowboys defense after their performance against Seattle two weeks ago. We will have a good game plan. We will play physical on both sides of the ball. And we have Josh Allen. Lets go. -
Leonard Floyd is what Von Miller was supposed to be
Paup 1995MVP replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lets hope he runs right by Stephon Gilmore, who looked good against the Eagles.. -
My son played w Bass at Georgia Southern. Says he made 65 yarders in practice. Said he had the leg to get it there. Stupid move by McDermott not to try the FG. It may have gone wide. But it would have been long enough that they weren't getting a big return the other way. Overall I thought the team came out prepared and McDermott had a good defensive scheme. There is only so much to work with given who is playing defense for us at this point. The win last night should give us a big boost to keep the momentum going forward. I see us matching up well with the Cowboys. Josh Allen is very difficult to stop when he is on.

No reason Shakir can't catch 6-8 passes per game. He is athletic, runs solid routes and has reasonably good hands. And I would love Diggs to be the Alfa receiver again that we have come to expect. Just not seeing that guy of late.

Paup 1995MVP replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
You were watching a different offense then I was my friend. Diggs is running half speed most of the time, and isn't breaking any tackles. He also isn't getting any separation from the guys who are covering him. You can not tell me he has been dominant in the slightest the second half of the season. And to be honest, he doesn't have to even dominate. Just get open some and make 3 or 4 big catches per game. And show some fire!! -
Exactly. Our supposed top 2 WR’s did nothing positive tonight. The drop off in Diggs play the second half of the season has been staggering. He is never open anymore. And he looks like he could care less out there. Right now Shakir is our most explosive WR. We need to be feeding him Kincaid and Cook. They are the future of this offense w some nice additions at WR in the offseason. But big time kudos to the defense stepping up at the end. We have a pulse! Next week against Dallas should be another big time game! Let’s go Buffalo.

Davis will be a free agent. He brings nothing. We won’t be resigning him. We need two big time new receivers next year. Diggs looks shot. But his contract makes it prohibitive to cut or trade him. The same w Von. Ugh. -
I think you summed things up well Barley. The team plays like they can't win big with this HC. And watching the games, you get that sense. The defense especially plays passive in big moments, and without Milano has noone who will knock your lights out. We are just not a cocky bunch out on the field anymore. Even Diggs has lost his swag. That being said, I am always pumped when we take the field. And am very pumped for this Sunday's matchup w the Chiefs. The Chiefs are not a confident strong team right now, especially on offense. We have had two weeks to prepare. And need to come out and play fast and hard from the opening whistle. No reason with a good game plan that we should not beat the Chiefs by at least two scores. They have nothing at WR. Their O line is overrated. Kelce is showing his age. And this year has not been the best version of Mahomes by far. If we look flat, timid, disinterested, and unfocused, it's all on McDermott. And the eulogy for this season and our head coach will have been written. But I think Josh shines and we win 34-20. Lets go Buffalo.

Calling it now: Bills are going to at least reach the AFCCG
Paup 1995MVP replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
You are one positive MF Alpha. I will give you that. I am excited for the KC game. We need to play aggressive on offense and not dink and dunk all over the field. I like us putting up in the 30's against KC, who certainly does not have the magic this year, as in years past. I worry about the defense especially our safeties. They look old slow and tentative at this point. Hopefully we can get a strong pass rush on Mahomes, and don't let him out the back door for too many scrambling first downs. That takes the starch out of the defense. Especially one with the age that we have. Lets keep Kincaid involved all game too. Get him running down the field on his routes. No reason he can't be at least what Sam LaPorta is for the Lions. We win this week, then we can think about the Cowboys. Their offense is good. Not sure who we have that can cover Lamb and Ferguson. But Dak won't play as well in the cold as he will in Big D. But their defense is marginal at best. Keep track of Parsons, and noone else is going to dominate on their D. We can score a lot of points on the Boys. We win a big game at Arrowhead, that can change the entire trajectory of the season. McDermott needs to bring a solid defensive game plan this week. And then just stay out of the way during the game. The guy is just not a smart gameday coach. -
Mac Jones misery (a salacious read)
Paup 1995MVP replied to co_springs_billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
They ran a screen to the rt side of the field on their first play. We forgot how to tackle and their RB gained at least 30-35 yards. From there it was a pretty foregone conclusion that they were going to beat us on that last drive. You can blame coaching. But our defense gets beaten down week after week in the 4th qtr. I was getting PTSD watching the Niners-Eagles game on Sunday. -
That's a pretty succinct summary of things. Our offense has always played well in Arrowhead. I think Josh feels real comfortable going up against Mahomes and playing in the big game atmosphere you always get there. Its the defense that is questionable. We need some new wrinkles to throw at Mahomes and the Chiefs. Reid is a great coach. And just playing our basic vanilla isn't likely to throw much of a wrench into their game plan. Mahomes' running is underrated. We need a spy on him, (maybe Taron Johnson because he is a good tackler, and can't cover anyone) to keep him from getting loose when the pocket breaks down. Do that and the Chiefs offense is nothing special anymore. Lets see what McDermott's got at this point.

The problem is the defense can't hold up late in games because we have a lot of older players that look absolutely gassed at the end of games. So we play soft defense and get taken to the wood shed far too often. That being said, Josh Allen when at his best is the most dominant player in the NFL. So a 5-0 run is possible. We need Joe Brady to be scheming up some bigtime offense that suits Josh, and the Bills secondary especially our safeties really need to tighten things up. Hyde and Poyer's fall off in play this year has really been surprising.

Rumor re: Brandon Staley (to be let go at year's end)
Paup 1995MVP replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
Joe Brady has certainly invigorated the offense. If the offense continues to roll with him at the controls, no reason to not consider him. Given the talent on our roster over the past several years, I believe McDermott has accomplished as little as a head coach could have with it. So we can only go up with the next hire. Brandon Staley gives a good interview and comes off as a sharp dude. But the results on the field have not been stellar. Keenan Allen is a beast. But they don't have a good enough ground game. There O line is porous. And Herbert is not a winner. -
How is McDermott a good leader? What does he say that is remotely smart witty intelligent or inspiring? As for a team brotherhood. That's on the players. Most like each other. Some are outliers, as in any group in society. But when they are on the field they should all want to win for themselves, each other and their fans. Coaches need to put a game plan together given who their opponent is that gives their team the best chance to be successful. And while the game is being played, they need to scheme and make decisions on the fly that continue to give their team the best chance to come out victorious. In the biggest games, McDermott has come up short time and again. He has hit his ceiling, and has been figured out. Time for a change.

We're Going To The Playoffs. (edit: Updated - Super Bowl)
Paup 1995MVP replied to Doc Brown's topic in The Stadium Wall
The defense and game management on our team is crap. Pittsburgh is 7-4 w a horrible offense because their coach is a winner and knows how to win w less. We have an excellent QB and offense and we are 6-6. Our head coach loses us games. That is a huge problem. Winning 5 games in a row w this schedule takes tremendous leadership and gameday strategy. We don’t have that. And we have 2 starting safeties who can’t cover NFL receivers anymore. But we do have Josh Allen. So anything is possible. (Just so much disappointment from last nights loss. That was our game for the taking. And we let it get away.) -

Can we have a conversation about Diggs?
Paup 1995MVP replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Open your eyes bro. Diggs is still good. But he hasn't been the alpha dominant receiver he has been. We aren't maklng it up. Watch the games. -
Can we have a conversation about Diggs?
Paup 1995MVP replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's a pretty weak response. Diggs has definitely not been the same receiver he has been in previous years. Not nearly as dominant. And his demeanor is not nearly as intense as previous seasons. He still has some tread on the tires. But this has been a rough season. -
Really good game for von to become von again
Paup 1995MVP replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall
Von can't move anymore. He is beyond slow. Hyde can't cover anymore. He was awful tonite. And has been getting beat all year. Poyer is almost as bad in coverage. At least he can still hit. We need some serious young talent on defense.
